Food was very good both dinner and breakfast. Manager Vicky very helpful
Restaurant a bit cold.
Excellent location being so close to the station and very nice room with fabulous view. Reception staff were very helpful. Did not notice any traffic noise due to sleeping really well.
Service in the bar area was a bit slow
Excellent location Many shopping, eating and sightseeing possibilities right next to the hotel.
The windows are quite old, so the noise from the bus station in front of the hotel can be a problem during the early night.
Excellent Location and view .Polite efficient staff . Clean and comfortable room.
A family emergency came up and I tried to swap dates was willing to pay extra for the change but was refused so never got to stay won't be using in the future
the location was perfect - within easy walking distance from the railway station and also to the theatre in the evening. It was quiet and we had a good nights sleep - hard to believe we were on Princes Street.
The grumpy rude chambermaid the next morning who obviously thought we should vacate our room before 12 judging by the rude looks we got when we went back to the room after breakfast and all the banging of doors etc and she even knocked on our door although she knew we were there. She could do with more training.
Location close to Waverley St Rail and for the Airport Bus. Good size rooms Excellent meals at Dining Rooms
Superb Location,Dining Room and Breakfasts. Nice bay window in room overlooking Princes Street.
No complimentary biscuits with in room tea?coffee. Paper tissues not renewed when empty, proably just oversight.
Super breakfast selections, even had my fvourite, peanut butter. Beautiful breakfast area. Close to buses, trams, Royal Mile, etc.
Our room faces the backlots, not the Castle.
We asked for heating in the room but were refused.
The ambience and the room was really average. The room furniture looked like it came from a charity shop and bathroom interior was dull and looks dirty.
The location can't more best. We can leave our luggage 3 days before we check in, that's a really great help for us!
The shower design was not really good, the floor was too wet after shower.
Excellent position and fantastic view made up for the noise at nite. Sunday better than Friday & Saturday. Can't have if all ways!!! Very impressed how staff happy to give us sheet & blanket instead of duvet!
The noise from outside but appreciate hotel is in an older building centrally located. In spite of this comment we would be very happy to stay here again.
On Princes Street, view of castle. Buses, tram, train all outside hotel entrance. Most interesting places within walking distance. Edinburgh so lovely, wished we had stayed longer in city.
Room small for two people. No fridge, although did have tea/coffee facilities.
Easy access to all areas I wanted to visit
Request met high floor overlooking the castle . Quick easy check in. Am regular customer good value for money great location near to railway station
Having been a guest for many years think the hotel good value but is getting a bit dated and could do with a wee fresh up
the situation was excellent and the breakfast really good choice.
we liked the location of this hotel easy to get around town. the staff were very friendly and helpful. we will be back thank you all at the mercure hotel for making our stay so comfortable.
cant say there was nothing we were very happy with our stay enjoyed it very much
location, nice staff ,comfortable
Location. Comfort. Ease. First class
Perhaps a little dated in places
bedroom over late night bus stop very difficult to get decent nights sleep
Paid 20 pounds extra and got a suite with a view of the Castle and a coffee machine!
Booked a standard room and arrived to find it was a tiny room with a view of the fire escape!
- Location - Room size - Balcony - View - Bartender
Do not book into this hotel, motel one or premier inn are far better.
