The reception rooms and dinning rooms were very good
We changed rooms because the bathroom in the first rom had signs of damp residue on the ceiling of the bathroom.
thank the stuff for being so great to the guests! Thank you very much for the service!
Really easy to get to from the airport and from Murrayfield, very pleasant staff and great rooms for a great value - upgraded to the suite
Limited choice on food at the bar/restaurant but it was very tasty and service was excellent
Ground floor room next car park
Attention of staff
Could not condemn anything
Welcoming and friendly staff. Good room especially for a solo traveller- better than usual single room
Disappointing restaurant menu
Location, comfort, bed, facilities
Room too hot, temperature tricky to control
very nice accommodation great staff good selection of meals
location, price and staff. overall facilities were good.
The staff are very friendly and helpful. The full Scottish breakfast was just perfect. Our room was quiet and we slept well.
There are some renovations going on and our room is ready for an update but it was comfortable and there wasn't any noise when we were there.
Everything but as its closing this week I can't think this review will help
Beautiful old world building, friendliest staff I encountered, room was old but clean and ok. Parking off street for hire car was a bonus
Pleasant staff, although they were all under notice as the owner is selling up.
No point in going into detail of the poor condition of our room as it will soon be demolished.
Staff - extremely helpful and obliging Bar and lounge - comfortable and relaxing
Car parking is poor and cramped. Many spaces for guests occupied by taxis or trade vehicles. Room decour needs refurbishment. Bathrooms need to be redecorated (paint flaking off ceilings) and cleaned regularly (sink and bath both dirty with mould on the tiling) Carpets also dirty. The hotel is thus poor value.
Room was very big and very clean. Great facilities in bedroom - television, wardrobe, dressing table, hairdryer, kettle along with snacks! The house itself was gorgeous inside and outside and staff were very friendly.
The fact that the hotel is closing down so will not get to returnn
Hotel is very good base for exploring the city- good bus links to town centre. Very friendly staff, food was good value and of a good standard.
Staff were very polite and helpful
The room and bathroom were a bit shoddy.
Lovely spacious bedroom with en suite bath and shower; nice bar and restaurant; quiet at night; friendly staff, clean and tidy; good parking facilities
Pleasant staff, good breakfast for the price.
Hard beds, black mould in bathroom, dust round light fittings.
Good parking [for a large van],the staff are all very friendly and the room was comfortable.
Can be noisy in some rooms due to the layout of the entrance, taxis coming and going etc.
Great staff. Lovely hotel. A little worn around the edges but still nice. Easy access to the city
Bathroom in serious need of refurb!
Staff were wonderful. Food was very good - the chef should be complimented.
Condition of room - peeling wallpaper, stained carpet, window was painted shut. Cleanliness Bathroom was worse than horrid. Discovered that the hotel was closing on 8 Nov 14 to be "redeveloped"! Lack of bar stocks because of imminent closure.
The hotel is elegant, close to a bus stop, and the staff went out of their way to help us.
Took 2 days to figure out the operation of the shower head.
Wonderful staff, beautifully furnished with a homely feel.
The staff was very helpful and polite. The public lounge was comfortable and the breakfast buffet was excellent.
The first night we were given a room in an area of the hotel which seemed little used and the hallway and room carpets were very worn with holes through the carpet in spots. Our room was cold and the window was poorly fitted. Since the weather was very cold and windy, we had to stuff some of our smaller clothing items along the window frame to keep put some of the cold. The room eventually heated up to a tolerable coolness, but was never comfortable. The plumbing was very old and hard to adjust/turn off the shower. After voicing our complaints, the hotel staff was helpful in providing a different and much more comfortable room for the second night. However the shower in the new room was also hard to adjust due to the age of the plumbing. Since we also ended up paying for 3 nights instead of two due to a problem with the booking, we felt fairly ambivalent about our stay.
