Score from 117 reviews Very good
the help and assistance from staff members, nothing was to much trouble, food was perfectly cooked and well presented,
the lack of an easy chair in the bedroom, the coffee sachets on the bedroom trays, change your supplier,it really was the worst instant coffee I had have tasted.
Staff was very very friendly and helpful. Close to airport yet was on a nice quiet area. Very clean
There wasn't anything
I thought that the food in the restaurant was excellent
the rooms and general look of the hotel was tired and need of some tlc
The bus ride to the city was easy, cheap and quick. The receptionist and bar staff were friendly and helpful. In many ways, the hotel had interesting character. I liked the interior design of the room. Computer access and internet were provided on the ground floor. Good evening meal + breakfast. Overall, the hotel was good value for money.
Some degree of 'chemical' smell in the room. A sign is needed to explain how the shower and bath taps work. The décor, furnishings and lay-out of chairs / tables in the dining room needs to be improved. I was woken up in the night by deliveries + the bin men.
Very helpful and pleasant staff Kitchen staff flexible and try to please excellent breakfast. Will use on return visits for business over next 6 months or so
The building is tired, decore is tired but good to see that this is being sorted, hopefully this will also apply to window replacement mine was posh rotten
Attractive façade Staff were very friendly and helpful
Carpets on stairs need replaced Room furniture was basic and the decoration needs an upgrade One of the reasons we chose the hotel over others locally was for the quality breakfast but it was disappointing
Had the look & service of an expensive hotel at an affordable price.
Could do with a bit of paint
On bus route to/from airport.
The comforting feeling of almost coming home. The extremely friendly and chatty staff and their helpfulness.
Our room was fine but the bathroom needs a bit of an update. (room 129).
Friendly staff, good breakfast, lift for luggage, old fashioned charm of interior lobby, reception and breakfast room. Clean linen & towels.
Unfortunately very tired interior that desperately needs attention. Rooms a bit too warm.
It is a good friendly well run hotel with good basic facilities and good pricing
Decent size room. Good breakfast. Off street parking. Relaxing lounge.
Carpet in bedroom old and well worn.
The total experience was excellent, making for a very relaxing and enjoyable stay. Quality of food in restaurant excellent. Staff superb, efficient and friendly.
Bedrooms a little tired, in need of refurbishment, but still very comfortable and clean, did not detract from a most enjoyable stay. It would appear from the hallways that work to upgrade had started.
Staff were all helpful and friendly. All seemed prepared to go the extra mile to ensure their guests had a positive experience.
The hotel has seen better days and is need of renovation but the attitude of the staff compensated for this in large measure.
Staff very helpful and breakfast good.
Room certainly needed refurbishment and noisy people in the next room
Lovely property. Located in a quiet residential area. GREAT food (breakfast and dinner). Staff were excellent, very accommodating. Room was large and comfortable. Free WiFi. Nice bar. Around the corner from Murrayfield stadium we got to see a bunch of Hibernian fans going to a game it was great fun! EASY bus/public transit 10 min into the city.
Only downside was that they didn't restock the bathroom with toilet tissue and Kleenex but once in a 5 night stay! We had to ask for more toilet tissue at reception which was a little awkward. Not the biggest issue in the world, but it was a little weird...
Location and charming building Good restaurant and great breakfast
Property accommodation floors are obviously under renovation although we were not made aware of condition by staff. Threadbare carpets in room and hallways Completion of work was deferred due to high occupancy in Edinburgh due to Festival events
The friendly staff - lobby, bar area, sitting area off the lobby and dining hall was very lovely
section we stayed in needed remodeling and painted - it was stated in the lobby remodeling was in progress, however we didn't notice any remodelling activity. If they are in the proccess of updating the older rooms this hotel would be beautiful. Was very difficult to find the hotel without a gps - we arrived late and parking was full someone advised us they were pulling out so we were able to .
staff were friendly and helpful.. the location was very good.. brealfast was good.. We think that room was clean and enough big.. also the hotel was clean.. we loved the historic structure of the buiding.. ps: in august we got cold so you need to ask for blanket :)
Staff were lovely and building itself and bar were beautiful.
Room was in need of refurbishment. Bathroom was poor and had mould. Also sash windows were dangerous for toddler accommodation but could have been easily safeguarded.
The location was very good- out of the city but a short walk to the bus stop and good parking at the hotel. Beautiful reception area and bar/lounge. Breakfast was very nice and staff very friendly and helpful.
The wifi didn't work in the room only in the public areas. We were in a ground floor room which had a disabled shower and no bath. No fridge in room.
Excellent Breakfast in a pleasant restaurant. Entrance area and bar comfortable.
Bedroom faded and forty years out of date. A number of minor deficiencies you would not expect of a hotel of this standard. e.g no toilet pan lid! Next to a constantly used door. Bedrooms not of the same standard as public rooms.
the location to the city was perfect, the staff polite and helpful room was adequate but basic, local transport both bus and tram service were excellent, buffet full breakfast cooked well and what was on your plate is exactly what you wanted.
Thought price for an overnight stay bed and breakfast was a bit high though I do appreciate it was the Fringe and Tattoo event at this time.
