Apart from two problems we had a very nice room and a good view and nice and quiet. Staff excelent. No noise, even though it was a special package time. (We were not booked in for this christmas Package) Problems No Lift and lots of stairs, not advised with the booking. Mixup with room allocation on arrival. Booked twin had been allocated double. Recified within 15 minutes. Also provided the twin room with less staircase than the double room.

Hotel staff very good, very nice and modern style. The pool and gym area seemed like they needed updating, seemed quite dirty and not very well looked after. Could do with some money being spent on, especially the steam room which is very smelly

Very nice, modern hotel. Very Friendly Staff, and lovely food, and although not used, gym and spa facilities are available. Rooms very comfortable. The only down side was the bar prices. £3.90 a pint and £3.65 for a Bottle of beer.

The staff quickly found another hotel for me to stay at when the hotel was unexpectedly full and my booking could not be fulfilled. The service in this instance was excellent.

I thought the staff were extremely pleasent and the room was very clean. One minor complaint was that the water power for the shower was very poor. Not to the extent that I had to complain to the staff however.

Most of the facilities were good, staff were friendly and polite. Better than it's 3* status. Low rise, so few stairs. The tennis courts were in poor condition, frankly quite hazardous. If they advertise the fact they have them (which was an attraction for us as we were in Gloucester for a Tennis Toutmament) than they should invest in their upkeep. They are in desparate need of resurfacing, regular cleaning and maybe the addition of fllodlights. An hourly charge would easily recoup the initial cost of this work.

A very nice location just outside the city centre. The room was clean and spacious. We didn't use any of the facilities but they appeared to be very popular with both residents and members The room was cold both early morning and late night I thought the breakfast especially was over-priced at £9.95 The evening meal was expensive for a three course £24.50 but I discovered each meal could be purchased seperately. We were kept waiting when we first arrived as the staff were unable to find the booking by booking.com.( Fortunately I had taken the information with me ) It took about 20-30 mins to sort out but the two staff members were so friendly and apologetic we laughed it off but decided we would settle the account the day before we left which was just as well as the total sum didn't agree with the amount quoted by booking.com so again we were kept waiting whilst a phone call was made. Its difficult to say if I would recommend Hallmark Hotel. for the above reasons

It's a shame I have to complain. The staff were nice and trying hard but understaffed. The phone lines were down to start but no problem. The menu for evening meal was v limited in choice. We ordered at 9pm soon as seated. Starter arrived promptly, sea food grill in garlic butter. It arrived undercooked and in a tasteless large amount of water. This was mentioned to waitress and more drinks were ordered. She came back to say chef agreed but no attempt from chef of a apology gesture. We then waited 20 mins for drinks. My partner went to the bar to remind them..they had forgot. It was now 10.15pm and still no main course. The waitress came over to say error on till and sorry so have free drink. 10.25pm the mains arrived..they were ok but after the wait disappointing and the "chunk chips" were stringfellow fries balanced on the serving platter. Following a false fire alarm the next morning 9am we had then had enough and very disappointed in our stay which we paid nearly 200 pounds just for 2 nights stay

Helpful, friendly staff both during the booking exercise - which included alterations as the party size changed. Very polite and helpful in the hotel. All the staff were pleasant and well spoken The room and en-suite were very comfortable. The breakfast buffet was extensive, tasty and good quality. Only negative comment is that the fruit display on the4 self service counter at breakfast was so high that most of the Japanese guests were left seriously vertically challenged Alan Dent - organiser of party of 13!

Refurbished rooms were excellent. Good breakfast selection in restaurant. Staff very friendly. I had asked for disabled room if available. This we did not get. This was not a problem for me, but for my mother there was no grab handles on the bath or around the shower over the bath. I was suprised about that. I did ask at reception if there was anything that could be done - they offerred to see if disabled room was available, but were not able to provide a small stool for my mother to use in bathroommin mean time. Swiftness of coffee and tea arriving at breakfast was dependant on how many guests had arrived for their meal as the drinks wer dispebnsed from machine at bar and could take up to 15 minutes at busy times. One evening at 10.45pm I asked at reception for extra skimmed milk for the room - hotel had run out of milk completely!

The rooms were spacious and clean,a very pleasant area and hotel if they could just tweek care for the guests, it would be ideal to spend weekends at this hotel , Did not know about the major building works when I booked the hotel, watching film on tv did not see the ending power went, woken up at 8am by builders working, sign on door do not disturb, ignored by housekeeping, who knocked on door and followed by quickly opening door to get in, no a/c in room, told staff when checking out,who didnt give a damn,

When we reached the hotel,we found we had no room, although the reception staff were excellent and found us a room.We had coffee and afternoon tea while they got the room ready, which was excellent. The hotel is under renovation, the reception lobby area is lovely, the restaurant and bar area were also nice. The rooms were a little of a let down, not really how we would have expected them not the little luxurys you would have expected. The rooms were just like a premier inn really. We spent a little time in the pool, which was lovely and warm. The breakfast was nice ,fresh items being bought out all the time. Many by the manager who seemed to be runing around all over the place. Not a bad place when the hotel is finished and the rooms updated

Comfort and room facilities. Great for the business traveller. The outside refurbishment is a little off putting but once I stepped inside that all changed! The gym equipment was not brilliant and did not match the refurbished standards of the hotel however the spinning area and squash courts were a surprise.

“Our stay at the Ibis was very impressive, it was both comfortable and very clean. The staff were excellent, especially the two staff members that were on duty Sunday morning breakfast, one being the shift manager Alison, and the other being a well turned out polite and courteous young man, (unfortunately I can not remember his name) he was also on duty Saturday and always had a smile on his face and spoke to everyone whom he came in contact with, he was a credit to the hotel. We will definitely be staying there again. And will recommend the Ibis.” Ray, Trusthorpe |
