Near to where I needed to be with easy access to city. Large room. Safe and secure. Swimming pool. Relaxed atmosphere. Things didn't work eg hiardryer but staff happy to sort problems quickly. Convenient car parking with no extra charge. Where my room was, corridors were cold and room became cold in evening. Also bit of a maze to get to pool. Swimming pool area could do with makeover.

Friendly, helpful staff especially reception. The bed! We expected the quintessential large bed that one gets at the various 'lodge' type establishments but it was just about a king size and not very comfortable either. Had we known we would have booked a twin room. We certainly will in futre stays

Good location for our needs and reasonable price. Good facilities. Staff were helpful when problem arose with internet. Lots of rooms - gives it a slight "rabbit warren" feel in the corridors.

It was smart and clean; the room was nicely appointed. The public areas seemed attractive, and the staff were helpful. Breakfast at £13.95 (or even £10 as offered online) seemed outrageously expensive, so we didn't have it. We have never skipped breakfast in a hotel before. The first night we were there it was very windy and the secondary glazing, such as it was, was so inadequate that the toilet paper was blowing in the draft, and the rather large en suite was very chilly. It is a lot further out of Leeds than where we usually stay.

When I needed an extra bag, as I knew I would not be able to get my small suitcase as cabin luggage, the staff went out of their way to get me a bag I could use. I also liked the price for all movies & internet. The food was decent and the room was good. I would have liked the person at reception to ask me upfront for my ceditcard to get everything billed on the room, not once I was back at the bar.

Comfortable hotel, friendly staff and has great potential It does the basics well but doesnt really live up to full potential, the original building is beautiful but needs some updating and possibly some double glazing as some of the hallways were quite chilly. I was quite disappointed by the pool and esp the jacuzzi which was cold and came out shivering after just a few minutes.

Staff were friendly and efficient. It happened to be convenient for where we needed to be. The hotel has just been taken over and I understand that Mercure intends to carry out much needed renovations. We ate in the hotel and had a perfectly reasonable meal. The hotel needs extensive updating and renovation. It is not of the standard that people would expect nowadays in terms of decor and furnishings. The room was ok but the small double (in quite a large room) was cramped for two people. The hotel was overheated and our room was hot at night. The radiator was turned to off but was constantly warm and there was a constant water-trickling noise in it which was disturbing during the night. We were only there for one night; if I had booked for longer I would probably have moved. However I can imagine that if Mercure brings it up to standard, this hotel will be fine.

The hotel has just changed ownership and is a little outdated & the fixtures & fittings are "tired" however everywhere was clean & tidy. All the staff were helpful, friendly & cheerful. The bedroom was not fitted out for a long stay. The breakfast was excellent. The hotel description says no pets obviously this does not include howling dogs which had been left whilst the owners had breakfast

I booked two double rooms and my son and I spent two nights at this beautidul hotel which is situated on the edge of open countryside and next to a beautiful woodland park that boasts a picturesque lake that is teeming with wildlife. The bathroom had a power shower that was to die for. The array of foods on offer at breakfast time was absolutely wonderful and the room service was speedy and efficient. My son took advantage of the pool and enjoyed his early morning swim before breakfast. The downside of this hotel was the lack of WiFi access in the rooms, although chargable ethernet access was available, but having to pay for the priviledge in this day and age was quite shocking. To blatantly charge £5.99 an hour to have wireless access when using own laptop is appalling In an age of WiFi, iphones, ipads, tablets and laptops I would have expected the hotel to use free wifi as a major selling point. For my third night away I chose another hotel in the area soley for the free WiFi in our rooms.I Would recommend this hotel but would also warn of excessive charges.

The leisure centre/swimming pool In need of refurbishment: chain has recently been taken over, so let's hope this leads to new investment. Bed: mattresses were tired and uncomfortable. Linen had 1 small nick/hole though otherwise clean. 1 Duvet looked matted and dirty. Lights in room were very bright spots: no dimmer, no soft lighting, the spots meant it was difficult to get good light in bathroom for looking in mirror. No extra towels in one room as promised at reception.

The location, near to family we were visiting was fine. The quality of the room was good and ok for a weekend stay. The hotel was very busy on the Sunday morning which meant that the restaurant was not able to cope with the numbers of people wanting breakfast. When we arrived in the dining room just before 9.30am there were lots of dirty tables which had not been cleared away. We finally found a table but it didnot have any mugs for tea. The food was ok but not of the quality of the previous day. We had to ask five times for a cup of tea - the same waiter came on those five occasions - each time either without the tea or without mugs. The day before we had been given a teapot but on Sunday it was all served from one pot. There simply werenot enought staff on to cope...and the restaurant manager was around but not giving these waiters the practical, hands on help they needed. This was a real shame as our initial opinion had been of a well run hotel in a good location with a decent breakfast. I doubt we will not be returning.
