The location was excellent
Staff were friendly and helpful especially Doug who went out of his way to cater for my wife's Gluten free allergy in the early hours of the morning!!
The rooms are tired and in need of refurbishment. The paintwork, walls all seen better days. Too much Formica and dated colours. However this does not detract from the facilities being adequate and it did not ruin our stay.
Rooms with bed and bathroom good
Missing a fridge to keep my water cold
Food good.staff good a bit pricey
Paid extra for upgrade TV had fault in aerial connection had to continually re adjust. Bedside lamp not working . Wash basin not running away
close to M20 and Kent main towns.. also near channel tunnel..
Comfort of the bed
No tea/coffee, kettle in the room Standard of decor was abit shabby
Great comfortable bed in a good sized room with smart bathroom. Everything worked and, though worn in places, it's all immaculately clean; in the hotel at any rate.
The hotel and spa is a very tired and worn 1980's leftover and needs updating badly. Spa changing rooms disgusting- worse than a junior school on sports day. The food & drink prices were expensive (£40 for a salad, a sandwich and two rounds) Also no room refreshments or vending machine - so you need to add £7 for hot drinks plus another £20 for breakfast.
Friendly staff, good location and comfortable room. Wedding reception on but largely confined to the function room so no noise or disruption.
Minor building works were going on which stopped after dark on the Saturday night but resumed again at 8 am on the Sunday morning. I do think the reception staff should inform guests when checking in.
Room was nice and clean and the restaurant was good.
Was too hot in the room. After day of long travel we wanted to sleep in but there was a cleaninglady with her little son who was making noise was not so great......
The comfort and the pool
It would be nice to get a drink / snack at the pool side
Overall a good stay. However, room could do with some attention. Mildew in grouting in shower and holes in the wall where I'm assuming there may've been a trouser press. Also, I had no transport and was reliant on a taxi to take me to a wedding I was attending at leeds castle on Saturday. When I asked reception to order one, I explained that I had no cash on me to pay for the taxi. I asked for some cash back, but was told this was not allowed. I had to pay by card when I got to the venue, which made me late for the service as I had a foreign taxi driver that took ages to take the details of the card. I felt, given the circumstances cash back could've been accepted with a small charge instead if leaving me with no cash. No cash point for miles, no transport and staying there in my own.
Restaurant food and service excellent. Gentleman who checked us out very helpful Nice to see Peacock's early in the morning!
Piece of enamel missing from bottom of the bath. Awkward to try and not stand on
I was attending a seminar being run at the hotel, all the staff were extremely helpful and courteous. I thoroughly enjoyed my evening meal, which was to a high standard
Everything was ok
Within easy walking distance if you wanted to visit Leeds Castle
First room offered was so small you couldn't walk around 1 side of the bed. 2nd room bigger but in desperate need of updating, large gap at bottom of door so let in a lot of light & noise from main hallway. No air con & could only open window about 2" & no fridge in room. Outside of building looks like a council block, bit too close to motorway so can hear constant noise of traffic. If I hadn't pre-booked the 2 night stay I would have left after 1 night. Sorry but wouldn't return!
Very disappointed with the size of the room and also accessibility. Very annoyed at housemaid knocking on door at 8.20a.m.Have stayed at Mercure hotels in various locations and this is the worst. Sorry
Swimming pool Very polite receptionist who provided me with a fridge-one off
Apathetic staff, poor housekeeping at weekend, dirty linen in corridors, bedroom doors slam shut, broken glass in grounds.
The facilities at the Mercure Maidstone were excellent - swimming pool, gym, and the grounds are a picture, relaxing to have a walk around. The bed was extremely comfortable, great night's sleep
Our room looked out over the main road and the motorway, and there was a lot of noise from the constant traffic. Make sure you ask for a room at the back of the hotel if you want quiet.
initial reception seemed very promising
room222. was very cramped and we were kept awake by tv next door and chattering If you go to breakfast after 0900 don't bother its all dried up and you may end up being sat next to ladies conference table in dining room
Hotel is nice looking and has a decent pool. It also has gym and spa facilities though I didn't get to use these so can't comment on quality. Staff are very friendly and polite.
Room has no a/c! This was a massive issue as the room became very stuffy and hot especially at night even with the windows open! Also wasn't a big fan of their shower facilities as the shower head can't be removed and its not the most powerful flow. The wifi connection also pretty poor as the connection kept getting dropped. The hotel is directly off the motorway and there's no way to go anywhere without driving. This wasn't an issue for me, but I thought I'd flag it up for others planning to stay there. One other minor complaint. The lift can only be accessed by going down a small flight of steps first. As we had a pushchair with us this was a bit of an inconvenience as we kept having to take baby out and carrying the pushchair down the steps in order to use the lift!
Location, breakfast, facilities
Confusing stairs, room was way too hot with no air con.
1. The wonderful pool - sumptuous and lagoon like and so relaxing. 2. Friendly staff and a perfect spring water spritzer 3. A non-intrusive but very pleasant singer at dinner 5. massive bed - luxurious
A little awkwardness in accessing the room - you had to go down from the ground floor to go up to the first floor - making luggage carrying and accessibility for my disabled a partner a little challenging. (there was a stair lift for the "down" part of the journey but this needed a member of staff to operate it).
Rude reception when I went to check in, room was very dated needed a refurb, didn't check in til midnight as was at a wedding and cleaners knocking at 9.15 in the morning, wouldn't go back and not value for money
Bed was very comfortable
Firstly the room was a long walk away from the reception (badly designed layout) The room was very cramped - hardly any room between the bed, dressing table/unit and side window. Weak WIFI signal
