The location and the comfortable facilities. Friendly staff.
All the staff we encountered were terrific. Helpful, friendly and courteous. The bedroom was comfortable and very well appointed.
For us, the bedroom was far too hot for comfortable sleeping. We were not able to control the bathroom temperature, and slept with the window open.
Historic building, close to Museum and historic churches, within close walking distance to stores and restaurants. Love the people of Scotland. Within close driving distance to East and West Coast.
Heating very hot kept windows open day and night, both faucets supplied sclalding hot water. No automatic baggage assistance. No flexibility by staff rigid adherance to their schedules and job descriptions. did not get wake up call requested upon departure
Location and parking made the difference.
The bath was dirty and had not been cleaned.
Rooms were spotless and the staff were all very helpful and friendly.
Drink prices were a bit steep and the lounge area was unheated and slightly cold.
Beautifully restored historic building and cosy bar & restaurant surroundings.
Hotel Central and car park great.
The mattress on bed
Wi fi signal good
Wedding function was on during my stay . Guests were drunkenly swearing loudly outside my window at 230 in the morning. Dirty dusty rooms with cheap quilts that were very old and thin probably stacked full of dust mites. Bar , dire ... Restaurant served rubbish pub food. Key card kept losing its ability to open room door so each time I tried to get in I had to walk back down to reception to get it sorted out 5 times ! Stay at the premier inn in town and avoid this place like the plague ( which is possibly what you could catch staying here ) Expensive , Er thats about it !!
Friendly staff ...nice... old ...interesting hotel
I was in a room next to the front of the hotel and people where smoking outside my room until 1am...so it was a bit noisey
The hotel was a bit dated. But otherwise pleasent and clean especially the bathroom which is always good to notice. Staff very friendly and accommodating. However we ordered room service and the panini left much to be desired. We ordered a roasted vegetable panini but received some toasted French bread with mozerella, peas abs red onions! A bit of a shock. We were hungry so ate it all the same and to be fair it was edible. But it wasn't really what we expected. The chips were good however and the staff comp'ed the meal once we notified them. So it didn't hamper our enjoyment of our stay. It shall now become an amusing anecdote of our time in Perth.
Location Food Helpful staff
Old fashioned rooms Difficulty keeping the window open
Far too hot and stuffy. Had to have window open and then very loud. Beds also very hard.
Staff were lovely and the room looked great.
However we had no sleep as the room was unbelievably hot. A look outside showed every room had windows wide open. There was a function in the hotel which was very noisy and even when we closed the windows (single glazed) we could still here the noise. Finally when we left in the morning, someone had blocked our car in and we were unable to find the owner as the hotel didn't take registration numbers when residents booked in. A disappointing stay for the money we paid.
Not a lot
An hotel in need of a total renovation. Tatty, rambling, rooms too small. Meals poor.
close to town centre
room very cramped and difficult to ventilate, constant noise from heating or water system, dark and dowdy, one to avoid
Service at a wedding was awful. White Wine was warm and served half table food and then left half of us waiting. Very disorganised
Bedrooms and bathroom tied need refurbe
Location, room was comfortable. Waiter in the bar-lounge very pleasant and helpful. Availability of parking!
Breakfast service finishes rather early.
Location first class for city centre Very fair breakfast Good reception and bar area. Staff enthusiastic and helpful Good size room
Room and in particular the bathroom very out of date. Poor shower even on ground floor Very creaky floor on ground floor room , but also room above which woke us several times in the night as they went to their bathroom.
was persuaded to upgrade to 'Privillege' room which turned out to be uncomfortably hot due to water pipes encased round the room which banged through the night and on two nights unable to open window due to excessive noise and loud music. All in all a miserable stay
Brilliant, central location. Lovely old mill building which hasn't been 'messed about' too much and still maintains many original characteristics. Service was excellent, nothing was too much trouble and even moved our original room location to accomodate my need for crutches after breaking my leg, so I didn't have to go up too many stairs. Great food, if not a little on the medium portion size. On the whole, a great hotel.
Our room was at the front of the hotel and there was a lot of noise. This was probably caused by the smokers' group congregating out the front every night, as traffic noise was not a problem.
The location, the local environment
The bathroom needs a lot of work. Silicon sealant is not the answer.
We booked this hotel as our last stop in a 14 day tour of Scotland and I thought a hotel in this renowned group would be a pleasant end to our holiday. However I was sadly wrong! When I arrived the very first question reception asked me was can I take your credit card, we were given our key and directed to our room. Nothing about breakfast, where the restaurant was, local amenities etc. Our room was off a corridor that looked like a hospital, beige walls, no pictures and a carpet that had seen better days. It took us ages to find the restaurant which wasn't signposted and when we finally did locate it we found it was totally without character so we went elsewhere. Our sleep was disturbed by creaky floorboards from the room above us when the occupants arrived back in the early hours of the morning, when they went to the bathroom in the night and when they got up early the next day. When we left our key someone who I think was the manager seemed more worried that we might not have paid that he didn't tell me the keycode to get my car out of the car park. Would I go back to this hotel NO, would I go back to a Mercure hotel in the future probably not.
The hotel is spotless and the staff very helpful. The breakfast was excellent as was the dinner. The hotel is 5 minutes walk from Perth high street, bars, restaurants and museum.
