The staff were not that friendly, we paid twice for breakfast then had trouble being reimbursed. Very expensive at the bar for drinks. One glass of wine and a large whisky £15 over the top. Food cock up no veg supplied with meal, dinner then took back for reheating, my partner finished hers before l even got mine. Not a very enjoyable experience......Will l hear from you about this, l doubt it. Regards Peter Wallbank

This was for a very short stay at an excellent hotel. While we would not have stayed at this hotel if we had not enjoyed a heavily dicounted rate through Booking.com. Access to parts of the accommodation were through what seemed to be a maze of corridors and short staircases

We stayed in an executive suite. The room was very clean and comfortably furnished, with some lovely feature windows. What struck us was how fantastically quite the rooms were at night, there was not the normal annoying hum of a hotel instead you could have been at home. A great nights sleep, lovely big bed aswell. Little boy well catered for on a zed bed in the lounge area he was delighted, tv in his room! The hotel also has a large selection of games available to loan in the reception great for after breakfast or dinner. The 'Fitness area' was a let down as there is no gym, child enjoyed the pool, changing rooms a bit grim but we could change in our hotel room so spent little time in them. Jacuzzi broken with no signs of immediate repair. This is not a spa hotel simply a hotel with a pool, do not be confused.

Good situation just outside Tunbridge Wells. TW is a great place except for parking so the Mercure allowed us to make a good compromise. Aprat from the two negatives below, this is a comfortable relaxing hotel. Breakfast can be improved. e.g. eggs cooked to order instead of being kept warm for I do not know how long. Internet via a cable in the room at £20 a day is too expensive, and outmoded! Wi-Fi, provided in the lounge for free, should also be available in the rooms at no cost.

It was an easy come easy go type of place. I didnt like being checked in incorrectly, I didnt like being charged twice for my stay once on check in and once on check out. I didnt like being charged £14 for a bowl of corn flakes and a pot of tea.

The room was well equipped and comfortable. The swimming pool and jacuzzi area were nice. Good reception & breakfast staff. Breakfast was very disappointing and we did mention this to reception who very kindly reimbursed us. We were unable to eat in the restaurant due to a christmas party. We had only booked our room the day before and were not advised of the party or possibility we wouldnt be able to eat in the hotel. However the local pub recommended by the receptionist was worth the walk to.

Room was clean and reasonably priced. Buffet breakfast was overpriced at £15.50 per person. Sausages, bacon etc left on hotplates and rather dried out. Eggs left to congeal- not nice at all. Very disappointed, staff were uninterested and busy setting up tables for lunch. Either drop the price of breakfast, or improve it. Room was clean and reasonably priced. Nice setting, conveniently located. A tired hotel, in need of upgrading. The mattresses were excruciatingly uncomfortable in room 1208 and the bathroom, as in so many medium priced hotel, was in dire need of re-doing. I know that it has only recently been taken over by Mercure, but there was no evidence of plans to upgrade the rooms--and they do need it.

Efficient and friendly counter check in/out staff The slim, blonde female member of staff (no name badge) in the breakfast area that morning who rudely and inappropriately reprimanded a young indian/asian gentleman member of staff when he accidentally smashed a glass on a table he was setting for the lunch, and then set about verbally abusing him again when he got something else wrong. Her approach was unprofessional, wholly uncalled for and unmotivational. When I asked the gentleman in question if She'd acted this way towards him before, he replied 'Yes, every time She's under pressure.'

Out of town location, but easy to get at if wanted. A party on the saturday night, did not make the bar area relaxing nor on the sunday as this area was taken up by alot of bodies spread over this area . I thought staff could have been alittle more customer friendly even though they were busy I would like to see a smile on there faces. A few more benches in the sun would prompt people to stay longer but most are in the shade. Its all there but not quite right.

The location was good and it was in lovely surroundings. We booked via the internet and was at first shown to a guastly room that was depressing and had mould on the walls of the shower with cobwebs in the corner of the room. Room I think 200. We complained and was shown to a much impoved room but the bed was terrible. We stayed 4 nights and the carpet did not appear to cleaned due to the fact a piece of dirt lay on the carpet in the same place the whole time. You could feel the springs in the mattress and the sheets were only changed once when Mercure took over. The first morning for breakfast the carpet was covered in crumbs in the dining room. The sausesages looked nice but when I cut into one large pieces of white fat came out, Sorry to be negative it is a nice hotel that needs rrealy sorting out. The cost was quite expensive and I expect better!

Swimming pool, breakfast Room was ridiculously hot. Had to have the window open all night, then the traffic noise made it impossible to sleep. Also, given room right next door to a group of blokes on a stag party who proceeded to wake us up at 4.30 in the morning just as we had finally managed to get off to sleep. A number of functions in the hotel meant the small bar area was busy all evening (even though the functions had their own rooms).
