The Spa Hotel is an elegant country mansion just a 10 minute walk from Tunbridge Wells Train Station. It is in 14 acres of gardens and parkland, and has a swimming pool and sauna.
Score from 370 reviews Very good
This thoroughly modern hotel offers dynamic, contemporary accommodation at an affordable price.

The Camden Arms Hotel was built in 2007, a new building on the back of an 18th-century coaching Inn, opposite the village green in Pembury.
Score from 144 reviews Very good
staff were very helpful.
Room too hot bathroom outdated and noisy.
The staff were very good and tried hard to please in tired surroundings. I asked for additional towels and these were delivered immediately.
Bar area was cold and towel rail heating not working so towels remained damp between showers. Breakfast was poor, egg only in watery scrambled form. bacon also sitting in water. Toaster not suitable for large breakfast room and only sliced bread available. Overall expensive for the quality on offer - expected better.
Staff were brilliant Superior Room lived up to its name Food was excellent They take Tastecard, therefore food was half price
Restaurant was a little cold
The floors are noisy when you walk, creaking floorboards so I was awoke from people above several times. Heaters in rooms which were left on so I didn't know it was on until it woke me clicking because it was getting too hot. Staff in office having a chat when I arrived and I had to wait for a long time to get checked in.
Rooms were fine location ok
Restaurant ambience we were put near a vent close to smoking area so fumes came in. Service was very slow and room was freezing cold. Pool area was shabby and looked tired and dirty due to wear and age.
I liked that the staff were friendly, accommodating and helpful. I had a few last minute requests and it was no trouble for the staff at all which helped to make our stay more enjoyable.
The breakfast was not satisfactory and not really worth the price.
Room was a good size, bed was comfortable and breakfast was really good.
After having two failed room keys that wouldnt grant me access to my room the nightporter let me into my room with the master key. This left me however without my own keycard for the room which concerned me. Also wasnt too impressed with the location of my room. After driving from the west (4 hours drive) i needed a good night sleep as i was there for business and didnt get one as i was positioned under the main staircase for the hotel. I was woken up by loud banging everytime someone used the stairs. When i told reception when i checked out they were less than apologetic which did end my trip on a bad note.
I had a normal room, with a comfy bed.
I was on the ground floor and one of my windows was unlocked on my arrival which would have been rather unsafe, if I had not noticed. The heating was switched off on my arrival, and it took a long time to get warm enough to sleep. Last time I was allocated a room with a four poster bed that cracked with the slightest of movements, which interrupted my sleep. This time I requested a normal room, with a normal bed, and happily received the same. However I was told by a member of staff that they knew the room I was talking about and that everybody hated it. I think it unreasonable for the hotel to continue to knowingly use an unfit room, and to charge the full price for it.
Front reception desk very professional.
Poor organisation and under staffed. Dinner not enough staff, mix up with food as they were so busy meaning we had to get up a couple of times during the meal, plates not cleared quick enough after eating. The steak was fair but not great. At breakfast no clear tables to sit at, no bowl or cups to use. Not enough choice for food, no cold meats and cheeses.
Bed was very comfortable Wifi was great Plenty of parking nice to have the swimming pool Waiting staff were very young but friendly
scruffy common areas food trays and other items left in corridors for hours on end Struggled to cope with breakfast demand (many items out of stock and had to wait, probably needed more staff on duty). Food was less than I would expect in a 4 star hotel. I would have expected more from a 4 star hotel. It has the facilities but the service and conditions let it down.
Great facilities Well equipped room Extremely comfortable Exceptional quality
Oversleeping for breakfast! : (
quiet in the evening.
i tried to have a morning sleep but the maid left the trolley outside my door and kept banging it every 10 minutes despite the do not disturb sign on my door. breakfast was late, they ran out of my chosen probiotic drink which they apologised for but then forgot my toast! the dinner was ok but the dessert I chose was not that good (eton mess). they have a pool but no gym!
Poor breakfast service , inadequate resources to cope with number of guests
Comfortable accommodation & bed.
Staff seemed to lack good customer service skills. Breakfast expensive for what was on offer.
The TV in the room was very poor and intermittantly working. The room was very small and not really anything special. I've stayed at a few of your hotels now and this has been the worst. I paid the extra money as i thought the Mercure hotels are a very good quality chain. My confidence in the brand has reduced considerably.
The Location and pool
I have spent 6 nights there. The worst experience ever! Room services were rubbish and kept entering our room without knocking the door ! I didn't get the baby cot until my last night !! They kept calling me Mr D then I figured out they have given me the wrong room and didn't tell me until I asked ! And most excitingly the reception lady let saying ( it's not my fault !! , I was away for 3 days and I dont know what you're talking about ?!!!! Obviously more training is needed
we had a privilege room, it was spacious&clean. the bed was very comfortable. The staff were generally friendly & helpful .
we were disappointed to find a busy bar ran out of southern comfort . which resulted in my poor wife stayed sober!
Poor service: waited 15 mins to check in as no one on reception. Called reception from room, no answer after 10 mins. Called room service, no answer at all! Decore etc all tired and shabby. Breakfast: cooked food, poor quality.
Bed too firm
Front desk was helpful and friendly, no obvious major problems, poor ok
1) for long periods no-one at the bar (a bit odd as there was a thirsty wedding party there!) 2) A little scruffy round the edges 3) Grounds limited and dull Not sure this was value for money - the Spa hotel was vastly better for little more money (Our friends stayed there) and it was in Tunbridger Wells proper, sadly it was fully booked.
The pool facilities
Uncomfortable beds and very hot room. Expensive poor quality breakfast.
Clean comfortable rooms Facilities excellent
No tea, coffee etc. in room. Breakfast table not cleaned before being seated. Had to request milk with our tea.
I had to laugh rather than cry
reception no attention to detail, I got a key for a pre occupied room and walked in on them. the bar ran out of all the brands of bitter. the restaurant seemed to struggle with 25/30 covers the bill took two attempts to get it right.
Food in the restaurant was good and the room was nicely decorated. Pool area was also a pleasant experience
My room was close to the bar area and therefore I could hear noise when trying to sleep albeit I did go it bed at 10 which is quite early but after a long drive and day it was what I needed. Pillows were too hard and no variation of choice offered.
street signage obscured by shrubbery; hard to see. Was not on my gps either.
