A very convenient location with easy parking, rooms were clean and of a good standard Menu for dinner was not well advertised. You could not find out the menu for the main restaurant without going in and taking a table, The menu in the bar was not very exciting, so much so that I went to a place I never go the MacDonalds next door.

Car parking facilities and the rooms were of a reasonable size. Staff were unhelpful and not pleasant at all. Everything was an effort and they need to learn to at least smile!

Extremely good value for money. We were at a 50th birthday party in Bushey and so the location was perfect. Room was very comfortable and clean. Good shower facilities and generally a very good venue. We have another event coming up in Watford very soon and will certainly be using The Mercure Hotel again.

it's appearance and the way I was welcomed were very good. The rooms were getting a bit tatty, peeling wall paper etc - a shame really as a little bit of decorating would make this hotel much better in my view.

We booked this hotel the day before and only paid a staggering £29.50 for one night and was really surprised how lovely it was. The rooms were were clean and very nice, with a trouser press, ironing board and iron, also hair dryer tea coffee etc. plus toiletries in the bathroom. The bed was very big and comfortable and it was quiet got a good nights sleep. The staff were friendly and helpful. Plus they have a spa, swimming pool and gym. Would defiantly go back. The bar and food prices rather expensive but I suppose you expect that in a hotel. Also a bit out of Watford town you would need to get a taxi.

The hotel is excellent for a one night stop over, but there is inadequate storage for clothing and the bathroom is extremely small and inconvenient, especially the "miniature" shower. However, the staff, cleanliness, and breakfast were more than good. However, as older people, we found that having to carry heavy suitcases downstairs to our room was very difficult, and it was only thanks to your staff who rendered assistance that we managed.

Where do I start? Firstly it's in a terrible location if you do not have your own transportation. I didn't and spent a small fortune on taxis for the week. The walls are so thin in part of the hotel that during my first night I was kept awake by the person in the room next door snoring. To make things worse the floor outside my room was so noisy it sounded like thunder when someone walked by. In fairness when I asked to be moved to another room the staff obliged immediately and I slept comfortably for the rest of the week. Anybody searching for value for money should stay clear as the hotel itself is not cheap. I was charged £4 for a litre bottle of water by reception staff and dinner came to £24 excluding tip for one main course, desert and sprite. The so called “hi-speed internet access” is anything but and is not free in the rooms. It’s so slow it took approximately three hours to download a small file of 348mb which would normally take 3 minutes with a good wireless connection. Keep in mind I wasn’t using a wireless connection. My laptop was connected to the network cable in the room. The only go really good thing about this hotel is the staff and the breakfast. I’m going back to Watford in June and I’ve booked another hotel.

“Location was good with plenty of restaurants, shops and transport terminals. Also, Hyde Park almost on the doorstep. Very Good! Already earmarked it as first choice for next visit providing the price remains at same level.” John, Hull |
