We loved the room. We stayed in the original part of the manor and it was traditional old world style which was quiet grand. The bathroom was spacious with a lovely deep bath which was big enough for sharing. Also, there wasn't the usual background noise that is associated with hotels It would be nice to have bathrobes |

Room was extremely comfortable, easy to get to and within a good distance from York centre. The outside smoking area was not under shelter and the breakfast seemed rushed and very busy. We were not asked if we wanted tea/coffee or toast. Some of the breakfast food was very sloppy too. |

All the staff were very helpful and friendly. We could not increase the heating in the room. It was costantly chilly |

Large, clean comfortable bedroom, friendly helpful staff and a great restaurant. The coffee making facilities were a tired old white plastic tray mounted on the wall, with a couple of sachets of Nescafe instant coffee. Seemed a bit 1970s! |

Accessability to the city the bathroom was not very clean, there was discolouration on the tiles behind the toilet, the toiilet bowl was dirty, and the floorcovering was coming up.The drains did not flow away from the basin, there was an unpleaseant smell. and the room was made up for one person. We would have had better value for money at a Premier Inn, which on reflection, would have been a better option. |

Peaceful surroundings and attentive staff. Staff were happy to upgrade us to a different accomodation as the previous room had a problem. The hotel bar could be more secluded. On both nights of our stay, music from wedding parties could be heard from the function room, the TV noise and the pianist playing! |

The staff We did not get a good night's sleep as there was hammer blow in the pipe which the staff were obviously aware yet we were still assigned the rooms. Consequently it was far from value for money and I will be writing to Customer Service. Also the bath jacuzzi did not work. |

Location, staff and the bar area was excellent Our room was not clean. There was someone else's old bar of soap on the bath rim. The pink chair in the corner had a very visable line of grey grimy dust around the seat - I would not like to sit on it. |

Easy access to York and the surrounding countryside The Manageress in the Dining room could have greeted guests in the morning more warmly and with a smile like the rest of her staff. |

The breakfast was very good and the breakfast times suited us as they were later times at the weekend. The bathroom door didn't fit properly and could not be closed. The hotel was not within walking distance of the town and parking in York was a nightmare. We took the park and ride scheme on the Sunday which was fine although finished at 8pm. |

I have to be honest and did not rate the hotel highly although the staff on the reception were polite enough. The hotel was very dark inside with poor lighting, it lacked any kind of atmosphere, it was old fashioned decoratively and really needs complete refurbishment. I was very disappointed! I stay in hotels on a regular basis including many hotels in York so I can give an accurate review. Also, some member of staff had been in our room whilst we had gone out on the night! |

The restaurant staff and sevice were excellent, and the surroundings were quiete even though there was a wedding reception taking place. The attitude of the receptionist towards me when my booking was confirmed for a twin room and not a double as I requested. |
