you out-booked us to the burn hall hotel which is a glorified travel lodge! so bad we didnt even end up sleeping there. awful
Hotel was lovely, staff were friendly and helpful. Definitely worth paying up front for breakfast. At £9 still a bit steep but it was very nice.
we had a disabled access room which wasn't great as it certainly wasn't requested and meant there was no bath, which was a real shame as it would have been nice to have a nice soak on such a cold weekend. Room itself was lovely and clean though. The park and ride is handy for through the day, but if you plan on going into York for the night, add £20 in taxi costs for a return trip and as a result may be worth considering paying a little more and staying in the city centre.
Room was palatial but passed it's best
Very cold room and no heat in bathroom at all. It was minus 3 degrees outside.Noisy all night with creaking floorboards and banging of doors.
GOOD SIZE ROOM CLEANLINESS GOOD STAFF FRIENDLY
Impressive public rooms Good breakfast Helpful staff
No lift tosome bedrooms Bathroom old fashioned:bath with high side: fixedhead shower: ceramic bath: no grip handles: no soap holder. Bed too high. Lights above bed too high to reach from bed. Attic room heating not functioning when set at 20C but satisfactory at 25C. TV poor: no teletext. Onle one chair in double bedroom Hotel not suitable for disabled or handicapped
Comfort in room Iiiiiii
Friendly staff and excellent location near the park and ride.
Lovely hotel with excellent staff who couldn't do enough for you. The breakfast was also very good. I will use this place again.
Quick booking in and out. Comfortable room and bathroom. Personal greeting on the TV!
A bit too far out of town. Bathroom fan not too effective as the mirror steamed up whilst taking a shower making shaving more difficult that it should have been.
Staff are friendly but lack polish and professionalism. Food was surprisingly good.
Room was cold. Chair in restaurant was covered in some sort of sticky substance which I sat on. they changed the chair but there was no follow up as to my clothing which got the substance on them.
Reception area was attractive. Good wifi.
Location - good 5 miles from York and only one bus an hour unless you walk 15 mins to the park and ride. On main, busy road. Health club a drive away. Beds really uncomfortable and rooms seemed to have absolute minimum - had to search for a second towel and only two tea bags and no biscuits. No fridge. Noisy, ineffective fan in bathroom. Really unimpressed - for a four star hotel, it was disappointing to say the least.
Food ok Handy for park and ride
We used 3 rooms First room had an unbearae smell of drains Second room had a kitchen extractor outside window so loud we couldn't sleep Third room ok but all bathrooms looked tired But the staff were fine about us changing rooms perhaps they've had these proems before
The room was excellent - a very nice size for both the suite and the bedroom. The four-poster bed was very comfortable. The hotel is extremely close to the Rawcliffe Bar park and ride so it was very easy to get into York.
The shower over the bath didn't have much water pressure. It would have been nice to have a separate shower.
Reasonably stylish hotel but looking a bit tired and in need of updating. OK as an one night stay
Bathroom fans in rooms very noisy, woken up every time neighbouring rooms used the bathroom. Zip up double bed very uncomfortable.
The wedding going on downstairs impacted on our stay due to very loud music being played which we could hear in our room after we had gone to bed.
Staff very helpful regarding all requests.
Nice reception area with lots of seating, for drinks, chatting etc.
Slightly frosty reception staff
Damp on walls , no pressure on shower, funny smell, bar closed Saturday night at 11pm , no drinks or biscuits for 100 pound a night with no breakfast very poor value for outskirts of York
The setting and the comfortable feel of the Hotel. The Restaurant food was excellent as were the staff. Overall we had a very enjoyable stay and would go back. Katie B
Rooms we booked were not available because of a flooding issue, which was ok as unpredictable. But we have been transferred to a 3 stars hotel (downgrade) in the disable room, 30 minutes away from York. Eventually we managed to get a slightly better room, but this was totally unacceptable.
Staff very good
No TV remote in room, only 2 Tea bags and expensive.
Beautiful Hotel. Lovely decor and surroundings. Not too far out of city centre.
Same price as Premier, nicer surroundings
Bed was past its best
Nice room, Friendly staff.
I was very disappointed that the breakfast was only available on the Sunday morning from 8am. I had to leave before 8am to get my flight for my next business appointment. Definitely not a hotel for business people that is on the move early.
