Nice big clean room, great value Checking in took a long time on this occasion, toilet seat would not stay up (must be a female toilet). No coffee sachets in room,

I thought the staff were the best I`ve experienced for helpfulness and manners. From the deskgirls to the lads and ladies at breakfast, all of them were very mannerly. I really liked the ambience of the hotel too. Thank you.

It was a pleasure to find a Hotel with nice friendly staff they made you feel welcome which also makes your stay much more pleasurable. The food which we had was first class and could not be faulted. It was also a change to be able a house wine which was good and affordable. The next time we are in the area we will be hopefully staying at this hotel. We have already been telling our friends about our time at the hotel. No lift.

Poor experience. First room was totally overheated and on the railway line and 20 young girls walked past on their way to a big night out with tesco bags full of alcholol. I asked to move and was given a quieter room but the heating and bath taps didn't work. I did get a discount.

Although my booking included breakfast they refused to feed me. Watch yourselves here as they do not care about fair play, The beer is is well worth avoiding, If you stay here and like clean rooms take a duster with you. My room had cobwebs in the bathroom, If I ever stay here again I will bring a bedside lamp as my room was dark, If you enjoy picking fault then this is the place to go although it will be easy The location is perfect with plenty of places to eat and drink nearby

Good location, nicely decorated My room was freezing old and there was insufficient bedding - only one blanket on bed and no quilt. I found another thin blanket in the wardrobe but was still unable to sleep due to being too cold. I had to get up several times n he night to put additional layers of clothing on and ended up keeping with leggings, socks and jumper on and still had difficulty getting to sleep use to cold

Nice and convenient for the Station - just over the road. Good value for money. Just a little tired and dated and bathroom a bit grubby. Was put off by notice that extra tea and coffee was available for purchase - even the Guest House that I stayed in recently in Portsmouth cheerfully topped up and had a really good slection.

For £35 a night i cant complain! The room was comfortable, had tea/coffee facilities and a TV. A bit dated and rough around the edges but this is reflected in the price charged.Ideal if you just need somewhere to get your head down and location perfect for the train station. Staff all very helpful and friendly.

We did not get off to the best of starts - we arrived to find our online booking had not been received by the hotel and that all of their double rooms had gone. The manageress was rather defensive about this - not the kind of reception guests arriving on a cold winter's night appreciate. Eventually we were offered the last room, probably not used in normal circumstances, but it was unspeakably grim. We settled instead for a twin room. This was fine, albeit overlooking the railway line. Breakfast the next day was basic, with limited healthy options. All in all, a rather sad experience - a once proud hotel in need to some investment. From a health and safety perspective, the car park and entrance area were extremely icy on our arrival; no attempt had been made at gritting these public areas.

Young lady on the desk was smiley and very helpful. Breakfast on the Sunday morning was good and was able to help myself. Manager/bar manager found more tea bags and milk for me. I was going to leave a message. Kettle in 203 leaks and lamp does not work. Draws in wardrobe on left hand side totally useless because you can't open the main door far enough. Not enough tea bags or milk. The lady in the breakfast room charged me £6 ! If she was that desperate for 5p may have given her one. Ketchup not made available. Had to ask. Bar not available Sunday night Whilst I accept running a business means keeping overheads down etc I think it's gone too far. 'On a shoestring.' Not saying I wouldn't come back though.Just a little disappointed
