Great hotel, friendly staff and great rates. One drawback for anyone staying in Barrow, and this is not limited to Jeffersons Hotel. The nearby Townhall clock strikes every hour and half hour 24/7. As a light sleeper I suffered.

The hotel was ideally located three doors away from the Forum Theatre, which was one of the stops on my agenda. The staff (in particular Chris and Stu) were exceptionally friendly and helpful. The rooms are of a very high standard and good sizes as well as tastefully decorated and very very clean. The accomodation is above a lively pub, but fear not, only regulars enjoying themselves, with doormen to keep the underage and less sensible out. With double doors on the bedrooms and double glazed windows the extraneous noise does not affect a good nights sleep. Excellent shower, tea /coffee/ hot chocolate facilitites in the room and a tv with a dvd player! The food in the hotel is good homely grub, very good value and large tasty portitons. Added to this there is a taxi rank to the rear of the pub making travelling around town for those who have arrived by train, a doddle. Station is ten minute walk or a £3 cab ride. Highly recommended.
