The rooms were comfortable, very clean everything in the room worked. The staff were particularly helpfull especially Chris the manager who was passionate about his buisness. The food was very good even after checking out to go to another hotel for a wedding we went back for another meal there..we had a most enjoyable stay and would recomend anyone needing a place to stay in Barrow to stay here, The outside needs to be painted its no that inviting but there is work going on expanding the accomodation the inside is very appealing and newly refurbished.Coming in through the bar is not ideal but once into the hotel pert it is every bit a hotel.Signaged to reception through the door in the could be better to show where the reception desk is.These are only minor things it is a work in progress with the saffolding removed and the outside painted it will much more inviting from the street.I Enjoyed my stay there, but for being booked and payed for staying in another hotel I would have.

The room was spotless, comfortable and fresh. The staff were efficient and polite. The shower was powerful with plenty of hot water. Good shower gel was supplied in decent quantities (I forgot mine). There was plenty of tea/coffee/chocolate etc. in the room. The finish of the room (no.10) was of a high standard. The breakfast was very good. All in all, probably the best hotel I've stayed in at the price, better than most where I've paid a lot more. For once, an enjoyable experience. Door to the breakfast area was shut the next morning, though I was early, maybe a notice on it giving times (my fault really, I was informed of times the previous evening but forgot)

Pleasant reception. All the staff were very helpful. The food was especially good (too much!), should have asked for smaller portions. However, I could understand that the large meals brought outsiders in which made for comfortable social gatherings. Would definately come again if in Barrow. A lift to rooms would be helpful, but we had no problems. I noticed that the staff were always ready to assist with luggage if necessary.

The hotel was ideally located three doors away from the Forum Theatre, which was one of the stops on my agenda. The staff (in particular Chris and Stu) were exceptionally friendly and helpful. The rooms are of a very high standard and good sizes as well as tastefully decorated and very very clean. The accomodation is above a lively pub, but fear not, only regulars enjoying themselves, with doormen to keep the underage and less sensible out. With double doors on the bedrooms and double glazed windows the extraneous noise does not affect a good nights sleep. Excellent shower, tea /coffee/ hot chocolate facilitites in the room and a tv with a dvd player! The food in the hotel is good homely grub, very good value and large tasty portitons. Added to this there is a taxi rank to the rear of the pub making travelling around town for those who have arrived by train, a doddle. Station is ten minute walk or a £3 cab ride. Highly recommended.

Great hotel, friendly staff and great rates. One drawback for anyone staying in Barrow, and this is not limited to Jeffersons Hotel. The nearby Townhall clock strikes every hour and half hour 24/7. As a light sleeper I suffered.
