Lovely country house hotel, different from run of the mill. Service for tea in the main sitting room was abismal. Food over priced.

Block with the suite we stayed in had views of bins and car park, probably overpriced for what they were, also a little dirty in the room and laundry lying around as we came in, tho none of these things hurt our stay

Excellent staff Room badly organised, too dark and with inadequate seating and lighting Restaurant made a major error on dinner reservation and while ultimately trying to do something were very reluctant to admit there was a problem, and one for which they were responsible

Staff were super friendly and helpful, suite was adequate, clean and tidy but slightly shabby I thought, this however did not spoil our stay in any way.

A great experience from being greeted by name by the reception staff, through to an outstanding dinner and one of the most comfortable beds imaginable. Excellent relaxed breakfast the following morning. Attentive service throughout.

It is most comfortable in area. Reasonably convenient. Good standards. Easy parking. Reception area badly designed. Weddings etc. can be a nuisance.

It was simply brilliant, from the moment you walked through the door you felt you were being looked after and that feeling remained for the two nights we were there, nothing was too much trouble. It's warm welcoming and comfortable with a lovely placid feel and the food is fabulous, the seaweed butter is a revelation. We can't wait to go back

interesting historic hunting lodge in wooded dene. Room comfortable & hi-tec.Good food Room rate excluded breakfast & was therefore very expensive. Service not up to expected standard. Would prefer to add own service charge rather than have t added to each item on bill. Cheese board would benefit from the addition f grapes/ celery etc

Convenient location for Newcastle and surrounding area. Very beautifully designed rooms (tho ours was a touch too small for two people!) Excellent staff who made you feel important to them and welcome. Scrummy food! Just the size of our room for the price. (Room 19). We saw other rooms which were bigger. Think we just drew the short straw because every other room related issue was first class!

The hotel is comfortable, the staff are friendly and helpful, the restaurant maintains a good standard, and the wooded surroundings are pleasant. When staying in a room at the front of the hotel, you may be discomforted by the habit of diners and visitors to the hotel's bar who stand outside the hotel smoking while engaging in loud conversations. The acrid smell of their cigarette smoke also leaves a lot to be desired. The management would be doing its non-smoking guests a great service if it were able to arrange a suitable location for smokers at a little distance from the building or in a special smoking room.

The room (no 32): large, fresh fruit, beautiful bathroom, comfortable bed my room was too hot but there was no way to turn down the heating. It was a very windy night so I didn;t want to sleep with the windows open. I think turn the heating down a bit.

Extremely good and attentive customer service. Wonderful breakfast. Excellent dinner particularly the chips! Considering the amount of money spent the room was very small indeed. Wine a little pricey.

Good location near student accommodation in Jesmond. I felt the staff were overstretched - there were 2 weddings going on on both days we stayed and I felt the ordinary customer got sidelined. Our room wasn't ready until 3 pm on day of arrival and wasn't serviced until the same time the next day. There was very little left of the continental style/buffet breakfast at 10 am on the Saturday morning ( breakfast is served from 8.30 - 10.30 am at weekends) - we realised what we had missed when we turned up at 8.30 am on the Sunday. The lounge staff implied we couldn 't use the lounge unless we had booked in for tea - sorry, but where were we meant to go while our room was being serviced? Admittedly they did find a seat for us eventually.
