Location, within walking distance of Bishops Stortford town centre. Good bed and linen
Bathroom could do with updating and an extra chair would be good
The room had a coded lock. There was no internal locking mechanism. Anyone who knew the room code could enter my room. As a woman travelling alone, I found it unnerving and insecure.
helpfull staff and friendly very clean throughout
Walls a bit thin
both the hosts went out of their way to welcome us and accommodate our requirements. The room was clean, and just what we needed
You have to sign terms and conditions on arrival, which is the last thing you need after a long journey. The room was not very clean and the shower was temperamental.
Cnt believe the restaurant shut just as we were arriving back from work,
Poor housekeeping, very noisy at night, and at 4.00 am in the morning. Really basic facilities
The owners were very nice and helpful.
I was staying on own, stayed two nights and had drunks shouting and swearing outside my door at 3am in the morning for both the nights, felt very vunerable and hated my stay.
Friendly landlady and staff. Room basic but spotless with good shower. No breakfast or snacks available but we knew that when we booked. Cafés and restaurants and shopping centre within easy walk.
Road traffic never really stops.
Twin rooms perfect for me and my mum
So close to road a lot of lorry and vans quite noisey
All the staff were so welcoming and friendly, they made our stay fantastic, we felt like family. The landlady went out of her way to help us with travel arrangements Lovely place to stay
I myself was unable to travel but my brother who had come from spain was very pleased indeed I am thinking of coming down and will certainly consider staying.
Staff very friendly, selection of drinks good and a pool table to boot. Rooms clean and tidy, very good showers
Tv's in the room need to be updated.
To access your room you are simply given a code for the door which saves time and fussing about checking in the usual away, especially if like us you are arriving late, you can just go straight to your room, the same with check out. It was the cosset reasonably priced hotel we could get close to sonisphere festival at short notice, Bishops stortford is a lovely little town!
The only thing would be that the walls are very thin and you can hear your neighbours every move , so I can imagine if you had a particularly noisy neighbour it might make your stay a little unpleasant
Jackie went the extra mile for me as I walk with a stick. She went out of her way to make sure we had all we needed and told us to inform her if we had a problem and she would do her best to solve it. We were attending a wedding and she made sure we left the hotel in good time as there was a carnival on and the roads were being closed! she was there when we arrived back at 11.0p.m. asking if everything went o.k. Adam was very pleasant and friendly as were the rest of the staff. I would recommend this hotel to all.
The only thing was the traffic BUT she had no control over that
Location perfect for theatre and town centre.
Very noisy road - lots of traffic til the early hours of the morning.
Easy walking distance to town. Comfy bed. Parking. Very helpful staff.
Freindly staff and convenient location, late night bar at the pub might not be to everyone's advantage but it suited us.
Not filthy but not pristine either. Parking on site limited. With no breakfast option £60,00 is a lot to pay for average accommodation.
Good location, only 10 minutes walk to railway and bus stations, which is only 15 minutes away from the airport. Although located on a busy road, it was very quiet and night. Nice sized room. Parking you car there for a short time is well recommended.
Fullers London Pride for £3.90!!
Clean rooms, well equipped, 5 mins from town centre. good real ale pub.
The location was excellent, just a short walk into town. The staff were friendly and welcoming.
The carpet and seat in the room needed a good clean. The shower wasn't working very well. The TV did not work late at night but was ok the rest of the time. The music from the pub was very loud for some time after midnight. Unable to feed this back as no-one around at checkout time.
Friendly/helpful staff .Location within easy walking distance from town.
Traffic-noise -early morning was the only ' moan'. Double-glazing would help.
The staff was very helpful. They put my suitcase in my room as I dropped it off early to store before check in. They made me feel very welcome, excellent food for lunch in the pub. On my departure Jackie ( runs the facility) phoned to order my cab for me and then was up very early the next morning to make sure it arrived as I had to go to the airport to catch a flight. I would definitely stay there again as it was like I stayed with family!
Perfect for a one night stay. Loads of space to put your things. Everything was spotless except for glass door in shower. Very small TV, instant coffee, kettle, tea bags, sugar filled up, pub right next door. No room key, rooms work with codes. Friendly staff, good atmosphere. Very simple, basic accomodation that I would recommend for a one night stop.
Shower wasn't completely clean. Too expensive for what you get. Everything is very simple really which I didn't mind, I was just expecting it to be cheaper since they don't provide any extra services.
What a great place to stay, and Jackie the Manger and her staff really are a great, genuine bunch. If you want a spotlessly clean place to stay, be looked after but at the same time have your privacy respected than the Jolly Brewers Inn is the place to stay. The rooms have everything we needed with ample space and although there was not a fridge in the room, that was not a problem as we could put our food and drinks in the pub fridge in the kitchen with easy access when we wanted something. The towels are changed every day without fail and rooms the rooms are thoroughly cleaned, in fact Jackie really does put her customers first. The rooms are set-out like a Motel adjacent to the pub, which again was great for us as we had our own front door with a security code system which is constantly changed, no worries about remembering or loosing keys, it really is great. I also felt incredibly safe and happy. I was also very shocked and surprised that staying at public house, (we were in room 1, closest to the pub), I was expecting a certain amount of noise especially at ‘chucking out time’, we heard nothing, no noise at all, the customers are precious and understand that rooms are next to the pub and leave quietly, what great people. Being alone with a teenager, I never venture out and have not been in a pub for years, especially alone I do get shy, however, again I loved popping into The Jolly Brewers and again was made to feel welcome. I felt right at home. Another great advantage to stay at the Jolly was the home made food, which I would recommend over and over again, we wanted a cold drink or a nibble, everything was there on our door step, and it really was a great stay and value for money is an understatement. Our special thanks to Jackie, Dean, Adam and the staff at The Jolly Brewers.
