Unusual and different to most hotels in its layout and ambience. Decent breakfast included although no menu on the table so you have to guess what might be provided if you don't want the complete 'full english' Not possible to see the very small portable TV from the bed, no radio provided either. Ordered a morning paper but the 'newsagent' was closed so we didn;t get it. |

Quirky hotel with individual rooms. A refreshing change from modern hotel chains. Only 2/3 of the rooms appeared to be booked so very quiet. No one in the bar/lounge in the evening nor at breakfast. |

I liked that the hotel is different, different bedrooms, different bar atmosphere. I liked the positive attitude of the staff. The place looks a bit tired. New carpets and decorating is needed. |

Great Little hotel, with quaint bedrooms and excellent service from all the staff. Rooms in need of a little update, but it adds to the place. |

My boyfriend LOVED the maze. He thought it was so fun to look for our room. It was like a game. The breakfast was really good and very big. The staff was extremely friendly and helped find us tickets to a musical, taxi quotes, and directions. Not the most up to date or modern hotel but you are paying for the Victorian experience which is lovely. |

Each room is different, so each stay is a mini adventure! The staff are always polite and helpful, and breakfast and dinner are of a good standard. I have no complaints, but I have noticed that the refurb of the dining area is turning everywhere "cream". Please do not do this to the bedrooms as all the character will disappear. The rooms need attention, but this is more to do with maintenance, than decoration. (Light bulbs, plastering, etc). There are plenty of bland corporate hotels in Brum, please don`t become one of them. |

The atmosphere was welcoming and quirky. The room, though a little battered, was comfortable, spacious and interesting. A great antidote to the souless big chains. Food was good and excellent value. Lots of stairs, though adding to the ambience, would make it unsuitable for the less mobile |

I loved its quirkiness, uniqueness and old fashioned victorian decor with many original pieces. Trying to find the room! Breakfast and breakfast room were lovely. Free car parking. Bus stop for city centre is just a few metres outside the hotel. Staff are very accomodating. Needs some updating in bathrooms. If you are bothered by carpets that don't quite fit in some places and carpets in bathrooms with old fashioned (sometimes scruffy round the edges) fittings and fixtures then this is not the hotel for you. Bar prices are too expensive so we drank at the pub across the road. |

Old fashioned rooms/excellent full english breakfast We could not find our room and staff did not offer to take us there which I believe is requird when the place is like a maze/ although undergoing changes some areas of decoration looked tiredn and messy. |

The whole experience made me feel valued and important. The quality of the food, the approach of the staff and the high qiuality rooms were all in concert. All in all a great experience The smallest gripe about signs for finding your way around. |

The staff were friendly and helpful It was very tired. The heating in my room didn't work and I had to ask for a portable heater and an extra duvet. |

A surreal experience. Inside it`s pyschdelic Alice in Wonderland Victoriana. Open the curtains and there`s a towering Golden Arches sign! Corpoate Gullivers will love it, Corporate stiffs will hate it. Bonkers - I loved it. Would be an idea to invest in softer mattressess and biscuits for the room. |

Due to a massive refurbishment you question whether the hotel should be open during this period. This particular hotel has been bought off the original Jonathan brothers, when opened the hotel was unique and I question if it should have been modernised, it does not work and will struggle with todays competitive prices as now it is just another hotel. |

Trouble with faulty door was sorted out quickly and we received a free upgrade for the hassle. New room was amazing. Loved the very close resturants and facilities nearby. Shower could be more modern |
