Less than a mile from York’s historic centre, this friendly hotel, built in 1870, retains stained glass windows and a splendid oak staircase. There are good-value rooms and a restaurant and bar.

I really appreciate to stay in this place. Nothing to say.
the hotel is located in an excellent location, right opposite the museum garden. Staff is very friendly and helpful.
the bed is so uncomfortable, as they were joined two single beds to become a double bed. If the bed is comfort I would rate this hotel 9/10.
Bathroom not clean No chairs in the bed room Room very small and classified as a double. Carpet no very clean No cooked breakfast even though stated when accommodation booked. Dark and dingy decour No telephone in the room .Information Book up updating
Location, friendly staff and cleanliness.
Only a continental breakfast due to what the hotel said was unforeseen circumstances??.
I have stayed at the Jorvik hotel twice before as it has such a great location. The hotel is clean and staff friendly.
It's not a hotel where you'd chose for a luxury break in york and when we stayed there, there was only a continental breakfast on offer.
Good location, comfortable and clean. A perfect hotel to meet up with friends and do a spot of Christmas shopping. Would definitely stay again.
I stayed for 2 nights and thoroughly enjoyed my room. It was a nice size and very quiet. I had a small terrace which I'm sure would have been great in summer. I had a lot of bags with me- as I am traveling home- and was given a ground floor room. The location was good- right across from the gardens. About 5-10 minutes to York Minster and city center.
The breakfast was not worth the money. Also the room was freezing and it took a bit to warm up because your room key worked the electricity so every time you left everything turned off, including the heat.
Unhelpful staff Expensive
Hotel was near the centre of York
Massively overpriced. No parking on site and nearest car park had constant lengthy queues to park.No hot breakfast available, continental offer was very basic. We had to go into city to get a cooked breakfast. Room was on ground floor, next to small bar area. Noise into the early hours from bar area and revellers passing window. Bed had a dangerously sharp spring sticking out of it. I have photographic evidence, but nobody on reception when we left in morning (!). The cleaner must have noticed. There was a step between bathroom and bedroom, which couldn't be seen in the dark. The inside of the wardrobe was dusty. I could go on more, but you get the picture...
It was warm
We stopped in room 8, There was a dirty handprint on the wall above the bed, paint is pealing off in the bathroom, picture missing only hook in wall, generally unkept. Not acceptable for the price we paid, considering the fact we stopped in a premier inn for £80 per night the weekend previously in the centre of Newcastle.
Very small bathroom
The location was convenient for the city centre. Fresh fruit and water in room was a nice touch.
Bathroom was small with no where for toiletries, towels etc and shower very small. Booked a twin but given a double which took some time to sort out.
Great location, 5 min walk to shops, restaurants, pubs. But on a quiet street so a lovely restful nights sleep. Friendly helpful staff, accommodated all our needs. Excellent value for money, would stay there again.
Great shower, big comfy bed and very clean.
No chairs in the room. We were informed the night before our arrival that there would only be a continental breakfast rather than a full English breakfast.
Good location. Comfortable bed.
A warning that the stair to the upstairs rooms is very steep. Needed instruction to work the heating - nothing in room to tell you. Shower took a bit of working out. Unfortunate that fire alarm went off when a lot of guests were still in bed.
the layout of the room the ease of heating or cooling the room being able to take advantage of the breakfast-easily the rooms were very quiet- excellent for getting a good nights sleep I think there are more good things than bad
These are little things- as I m sure the rooms would be suitable for certain clientele The twin beds were possibly 2'6" -or felt that small I was in room 16 + I twice missed the step just outside the room the stairs leading to the room were very steep and the rooms that were accessed by them wouldn t be suitable for a lot of customers- I had to really take care on them -esp coming down with a case
Very convenient location, smiling, friendly and helpful staff creating a pleasantly relaxed atmosphere. The rooms are small but I wouldn't put that in the 'didn't like' section because the space is adequate and the standard of comfort and cleanliness is high. Good supply of tea/coffee.
we made the mistake of putting our suit case on top of the wardrobe which when we took it down brought loads of dust with it
duvet - what's wrong with blankets?
For York this is a fairly central hotel at a not bad price. Room was a bit small but clean, warm and comfortable. Staff were just ok, perhaps a bit more focus on the customer. Breakfast could have been better for the price, it wasn't hot but edible. We only stayed one night but would have expected a bit more customer focus if we had stayed longer.
Location was good, a nice stroll through the park to get to the other side of the bridge. Staff were very friendly, rooms were of a good size and clean. Could do with more seating for larger groups in the bar area or lounge. We would stay again.
Staff were very friendly and helpful and it made a very pleasant stay with a lovely view over the museum gardens
Shame to see broken bath panel had not been replaced, made it look a little tired
Internet worked only in lobby.
Location is handy, only a short walk through the park opposite the hotel and you're on the north side of Lendal Bridge. The Yorvik has a fresh clean feel with an attractive dining room serving excellent breakfasts. We always go for the English breakfast which, we recommend, always hot and served on warm plates, faultless!
Minor niggle, no hairdryer in the room!
