The welcome, the building, the large bedroom and the massive bed. Only recently under new management with many new staff. Some greater attention to detail is required in order to realsie the full potential for both customers and the operator.

Everythig was excellent, staff very friendly and helpful, couldn't do enough, went over and beyond. I would not hesitate to stay again or recommend to someone else. Everything was perfect, good quality rooms. We stayed for our wedding and it was the perfect hotel. No permanent receptionist

We absolutely loved the hotel and the staff were fabulous, very friendly and helpful. The room was beautiful, would have be 10 across the board, if not for a little repair needed to the bathroom floor, but nothing to worry about. Breakfast was also delicious and served very promptly. Have already recommended the hotel to friends, wouldn't hesitate to return. Thankyou Nothing

the overall design of the hotel both inside and out, really nice and classy. our room was excellent, really comfortable bed, very clean, very nice bathroom and great jacuzzi/bath tub. great options for breakfast. great location in the city centre with numerous bars, restaurants and shops very close by. being charged £216 instead of £196 for some reason? i showed the lady on reception my booking confirmation from booking.com which stated it was £196 but due to the language barrier (she was foreign, I am from Liverpool) she could not help.....I would appreciate some feedback on this as matter as to why I was charged more than i was told i would be.

The location to the train station and to all of the downtown core of York were excellent. The staff was professional, friendly, and accommodating. The room was spacious and welcoming. The bathroom was clean and spacious. The inclusion of breakfast was most appreciated. The choices for breakfast was excellent. The curtains were in need of replacing as they were ripped. There was no hair dryer included in the bathroom.

Really lucky with timing, as hotel had just reopened its kitchen, so we were able to enjoy a delicious cooked breakfast! Staff very polite and helpful, and location superb. Lovely cellar bar too, with seating outside.. perfect for a sunny day, which we were lucky to have! Didn't have a view, as was on the room description, however this did not spoil the hotel for us, as we were so close to walk to all the sights anyway!

We liked the location which is why we booked the hotel. The staff were helpful, warm and friendly. The superiour room was large with the original fireplace. The bed was big comfortable and we enjoyed our stay. Thanks It is in need of some tlc. We had a friendly chat with the manager on our way out of the hotel and he told us of the refurbishing plans which they hope to start in the near future. Keep the tea and coffee in the room topped up, we only had a small selection, not too big an issue.

Very helpful and pleasant staff; comfortable, very clean room; bathroom shower was lovely and spa tub as well; in-room tea and cookies a bonus. The bed was extremely comfortable. Great breakfast and service in the morning. They also accommodated our bags after checking out, until our time of train departure. Wonderful place. Would definitely go back!

Location in City Centre was great. Staff very friendly and helpful. Room décor very tasteful. Cracked and loose tiles in bathroom. Cracked tile taped down and covered with mat. Water pressure in shower made heat control a bit of an adventure. Boutique style hotel should stay on top of these type of repairs. Fire exit light in room, bright green light on all the time. There are other means to mark the exit nowadays which would not affect the light in the room when guests are trying to sleep. Did not realise when booking that there was no facility for cooked breakfast due to work being carried out at hotel. Notification should be more obvious than small print on booking form when printing. Was too late for me to seek other accommodation. Partly my fault for not reading booking form earlier, so did not make an issue of this, but shouldn't have to be like that. Certain parts of room needed dusting, but appreciate this may have been due to refurb work causing a lot more dust than normal. However management should have been aware that this could be a problem and addressed it. Kind of takes the shine off things and makes handsome hotel look uncared for. Also makes you look closer at everything else. Being ex-trade could give lessons on presentation of public areas as well.

The location was excellent and the rooms were spacious and comfortable. We had a view of the Minster from our room window. We would love to have had a meal there but they were still working to get the kitchens ready, that DEFINATELY gives us a reason to return!

The room was a good size and the bed very comfortable. The location was excellent and close to the train station and all attractions. There was building work being carried out during our stay which cause minor disruptions but nothing that made the stay unenjoyable.

Our room was huge, so was the bathroom equipped with a jacuzzi tub. Breakfast was fine. Staff were very helpful. It was a great place to stay for a very reasonable price. I hope when the renovations are finished the price does not go up too much!! The only complaint I had was that the room was very warm for sleeping. We could not find a temperature control in our room.

The room was big, the Jacuzzi was wonderful, and the continental breakfast was tasty. Location was great for most everything. Parking was several blocks away. The scaffolding on the building kept us from looking out windows or getting light. Stairs to the third floor room would keep elderly from staying. There was no restaurant or pub for our convenience. Some of these things are being worked on and improved.

Unfortunately this hotel was in the middle of a refurb although we were informed of this before our arrival and were given the option to cancel. The bar and restaurant were closed but this did not affect us at all and we enjoyed our stay
