Everything excellent. Enjoyed the companionship of the watchful goldfish. An unexpected pleasure.
Staff fantastic, lovely surroundings.
Bed was far too small ,even though it was very comfy! Room 21
The staff were very polite and extremely helpful. The breakfast was outstanding and the complimentary items in the room were just perfect. A1 condition and i would definitely stay again and would highly recommend it to anyone especially if it was for a special occasion.
Staff were friendly, helpful and knowledgable. The evening meal was perfect. The whole hotel, lounge, dining room and bedroom were second to none. Atention to detail and decor was traditional and beautiful. I cant wait to return.
Having to leave.
Beautiful location opulent surroundings ..comfortable stay despite rock hard bed ..which I struggled with
£1.85 for a pkt of crisps from mini bar how can u justify that!!!!
Everything! My husband and I travel a lot both in the uk and Europe and this is one of the best hotel stays we have had. Genuinely caring staff, lovely bedroom and garden views, comfortable bed, super clean plus some great extra touches like sherry and chocolates in the room each night - highly recommended!
Good service, helpful staff
Lack of info on wi-fi, TV
the staff; the grounds;the room; the general ambience
No hand rail around the bath
The location was great. the staff were very helpful. Weird thing was the goldfish bowl in my room.
The hotel has the home from home feel with warm and friendly staff. The room was comfortable and spacious.
The fact that there are no draws large enough in the room in which one can place underwear, jumpers, t shirts etc. Also that there is not a safe.
Enjoyed the quietness.Food was excellent, staff were helpful and friendly without being gushing. A very welcome and enjoyable stay, will definitely return.
The friendliness and attentiveness of the staff. The food but we think the menu should have more variation .
Everything! I travel a lot and this hotel although 3 star was quite simply the best hotel I have stayed in for many years. The little touches in the room and the care the staff take to assure you are content were second to none. I wish this hotel could be transported to every location I need to stay in the UK but sadly it would only spoil me
Fantastic scenic gardens Bed very comfortable Room clean, love the vintage feel about the room and hotel, Hotel surroundings beautiful Staff friendly
Drinks at bar far too expensive also Mini bar in room far too expensive for what was in there eg mini bottle of spirits £6.95?? 35ml bottle of wine £16.95 ?? Who thinks of these prices?
We had a warm welcome. The staff were very friendly and efficient. Food was fab. - the service, presentation and taste were superb.
The lights in our room gave a cosy feel and were fine for relaxing or watching TV but difficult for reading in the evening.
Excellent restaurant, attentive staff.
Room dark, bed not great.
Beautiful location, very friendly staff and not too big. It had a homely feel about the place, room was clean and well presented, we also had a very nice breakfast. Would recommend to friends and family. A return visit will happen soon.
Drinks were a bit pricey
The service was outstanding the restaurant is exceptional in every sense and the event that they arranged for my fathers ninetieth birthday was fantastic!
Room and breakfast, the gardens
The smell of cigar smoke in the lobby/reception area
Friendly, competent and very professional staff. Comfortable well-appointed bedroom. Extensive grounds and garden. Excellent restaurant and wine cellar.
Nothing to express as strongly as "like" Food supposed to be gourmet but good is all I would decribe it as on the basis of dinner. One hard and one soft poached egg for breakfast takes some doing.
Shabby decor - needs a make over. Overpriced by some way. Service mediocre. Feels like it is living off a previous repuation. Shower in room 18 was so scaldingly hot it was impossible to have a shower. On checking out the bill included someone else's dinner and that took another 10 minutes to resolve on checkout. No offer of any reduction for the inconvenience or shower.
