I stayed in the Bristol from the 8th to the 9th of April.
I had booked a superior double room for 125.- due to the good reviews here.
After arrival I was welcomed very friendly and decided to go for the upgrade option, for another 30-,as a nice room with river view was promised.
I was assigned to room 616 and upon entering was first surprised by the really nice design of the room.
After returning to the room at night I decided to open the window and moved the curtain ...... and was shocked to discover, that the whole wall was covered with black mold.
I checked closer and found out, that this was the case at the whole wall, it was clearly visible, that te mold must have been growing for a long time!
As you can see on the attatched pictures we are not talking about on single small spot of black mold, but of a completely infected wall, that is a threat to every persons health.
At this point it was 0.30 at night,so I went to the reception to inform the night manager who offered me another room.
After my experience with the original room, I asekd to have a look at the new room.
So we went to rom 602 only to discover, that in the corner of this room black mold had stared to spread as well.
Another room was offered, so I had a look at room 504.
Instead of the paid room with river view, it turned out to be a room with dated interior (damaged bathtub an mirror) and a view to the inner courtyard.
By now it was 1.20 in the morning and I was tired and only wanted to go to sleep. Finally I was offered room 523 which was acceptable, even tough the special features of the Deluxe Rooms like bathrobe, slippers etc. were missing.
Right before breakfast I talked to the duty manager who already had been informed.
She was shocked about the black mold in the rooms and apologised for the inconvenience. She explained, that she had no knowledge about the mold, as it would be housekeeping standard, that every corner of the room gets checked daily.
