Lack of laundry, room service, indifferent food, funereal dining room, off-hand service, noise.
Location, room size, helpfulness of staff
Shower, Location, Staff, Building
the bed is too soft so that I can't sleep very well. it's easier to hear the sound from the other room ⋯and by the way I think something wrong with the toilet.
location expensive for the quality
noisy room no air con so had to have windows open and the train station and road below were noisy all night
Shortbread provided at reception was good. Location is truly nice, right at the city centre.
Room was small for three. Facilities were old. The toilet barely flushes. The shower was inconvenient to use.
Lots of street noise. Completely out of date interiors. Uncomfortable bed.
Friendliness, helpfulness of the staff in both hotel and restaurant. Breakfast, quality of the food in the restaurant. Size of the room was ok. Water pressure and temperature in the shower were good. Internet adequate for email (for extra services eg skyping with videoconnection etc it is necessary to buy a 'premium packet', otherwise the connection is to slow).
The biggest discomfort was the temperature in the rooms. The room was exceedingly warm, even at night. We found no effective way to cool it down. The windows can open the tiniest bit, and while we appreciated this from a security standpoint, it meant that there was very little airflow and the room just stayed warm. Other difficulties with the room: sheets too short for the bed so that the mattrass/mattrass cover is exposed, and only enough tea / coffee in the room for one cup of each per guest.Toilet didn't always flush well.
Location good Staff pleasant and helpful Breakfast good
Toiletries in room not very nice
situation in city. good meals, exc. breakfast.
Location is perfect
Pretty much everything
short distant from station and access to princess street and all visitor attractions. hotel room was clean and comfortable. breakfast excellant.
shower curtain needs weights to keep it in the bath and not wrap it around you when showering. connecting door to another room light shines in around to door frame from next room - and you could clearly here people in the next room.
The meals in the restaurant were amazing. Great service too - friendly and prompt!
Excellent location, public areas very bright & modern, staff very friendly & helpful
Rooms need a bit of TLC our room faced a stone wall, very noisy outside, no air con & because of the noise were unable to leave windows open, had to ask for a fan but the plugs were on the opposite side of the room so the Dan even when on full power wasn't much use. The bathroom was very 'tired' & not enough shelving.
Staff were very attentive and friendly. Breakfast was excellent!
Rooms smelled stale with smoke. Need exhaust fans to move air around.
Staff very helpful and friendly. Location is fantastic! Comfortable room and the view we had was amazing! We also had 2 desserts from the lunch menu and they were really delicious!
Comfort and friendliness of staff
The location is good very central to Edinburgh.
The rooms aren't very sound proof, lots of noise from the street and the neighbours. Very hard mattress
Location good for sightseeing eating places old old and new town for shopping
we enjoyed everything about this hotel....wonderful food for both breakfast and dinner. you can't beat the location in relation to the train....very convenient.
wi fi was a bit of a struggle. should replace shower curtain with a glass partition or something similar. water continued to come from taps even when shower turned on. would benefit from fan in bathroom.
Very near the Royal Mile & to Waverly Station where all the city tour buses depart. City tour Red Line will stop right outside the hotel. Room was clean & bed comfortable. Bar & Restaurant very reasonable. A very good value and location.
Not a thing.
Efficient reception staff in a well run centrally located Edinburgh hotel.
Breakfast expectations dashed. Quality suffers. Hotel serves a purpose but nothing special
That it was very central to The Castle shopping lovely parks and surrounding grand monuments.Any the Very Friendly Taxi Drivers .
It rained one afternoon.
Glad I had no car.
