This well-priced hotel is in the center of the city, just over a quarter mile from Newcastle Train Station. It has large and light rooms with private bathrooms with showers.
Score from 886 reviews Very good
Located in the heart of Newcastle, Surtees Hotel is a 5-minute walk from the city’s main train station. The bars, restaurants and attractions offered by the Quayside are less than half a mile away.
Score from 988 reviews Good

Location view staff xx
superb view on river tyne
paying car park private to the hotel
The location was very good , lovely room very spacious
The parking situation is terrible! No were near enough spaces
Location is great and its a lovely walk along the quayside. The staff are very helpful and all the rooms I have stayed in are lovely and clean. The air con/heating is an added bonus and the shower is brill.
The rooms are a bit sparse a picture or two would brighten the room.
Very friendly staff. Excellent breakfast choice. Location. Triple room availability. Room to store luggage after checking out to enable more sight seeing whilst collecting luggage later.
Can't fault it. Only minor issue is bathroom had one large towel to cater for a room occupying 3 individuals. Would have expected 3 large towels.
Near enough to walk to City Centre. Far enough to get some sleep!
Parking facilities very limited and can be a problem.
The location was fantastic for our night at the sage
Paying for overnight parking
Great location for wat we wanted
Wifi in all areas comfy beds
Noisy doors slamming
I love the quality of reception office and breakfast buffet.
the location was not quite good as it's not close to the city centre and I had to walk to the closest bus station.
Quality standards very poor sent a complaint to booking .com who passed the buck and never accepted responsibility it was the worst bathroom I have seen in years black moss and stains awfull .never again
Everything was fabulous, from check in to the end check out. The entire Jury experience was so good, the staff are so positive, the breakfast was everything that others have said. |How could this hotel improve on a breakfast. The preserve jars for the fresh food and smoothies was outstanding, all cooked breakfast was perfection. eating overlooking the Tyne was just a perfect start of the day. Walking into Newcastle over the modern and ancient bridges was so simple. Next to the sage and Rank arts events was so handy and impresive.
Make sure you park in the car park, nearest to the hotel, not the one closest to the roundabout. £3.00 mistake. Just common sense no reflection on this excellent hotel.
Said breakfast was only till 10 and my friends got one @10.45
Didn't know wifi was included until we'd left
Very conveniently situated for the Baltic, the Sage and the Quayside area generally. Complimentary wi-fi. Comfortable room and copious breakfast.
The location of the hotel is fantastic and the staff were really friendly.
Hen parties/ stag dos was a party until 4am next to us.
the staff were exceptional especially the bar staff very helpful
Clean, quiet, spacious room and brilliantly placed for local attrations or a night out in "Party City".
Functional rather than stylish or homely.
Clean spacious room. Good bathroom. Buffet breakfast excellent .Helpful staff on reception.
Coffee at breakfast was awful. Deliveries and the moving of waste bins creating a great deal noise outside just after 6am was very loud and we did not appreciate it at that time of the morning and were unable to get back to sleep.
Good location. Good food and drinks. Nice river view room.
Shower not powerful enough. And a very small car park. To to park In car park next door. Cost £20!
A scenic short stroll across the millenium bridge then uplhill to centre in minutes (or take a frequent kryside bus)
Limited on site parking. Not very obvious exact location until you know where it is.
Cleanliness. Staff attitude especially in restaurant. Overlooking river.
Immediate area a little drab.
Value for money Good bar food Spacious room
I made a mistake on the booking and the staff went out of their way to correct it and avoid any additional costs to our booking. The hotel is in great location and the rooms are good. I will definitely stay again.
Parking was a bit limited if you arrive later in the day.
we really enjoyed our stay, its in the perfect location just 5 min walk to the bridge. we will defo be returning to this hotel
