I was there for Great North Run so the location was excellent. The cost for the saturday night was very high as it was an event weekend

The reception staff were very helpful and clearly under-resourced, but did their best to keep up with demand during a very busy check- in period. The location is good. I was very disappointed. £250 for a room, even on Great North Run weekend, is expensive and you'd expect something pretty good for that. But the price didn't even include breakfast. The room was poor - no better than a Travelodge. No info about the hotel. No movies and not even any soap/shower gel etc... other than the stuff stuck to the wall (presumably to stop people nicking it); as a result if you have a bath you have to stand up to get soap. The bed wasn't properly made up. Service in the restaurant was appalling: they were grossly under- staffed. People have to queue to pay their bills is not a good image or a good customer experience.

The only reason I would stay here again is if I am going to the metro radio arena again. The fact that we were at no point told it was a 90% hen and stag do venue, therefore extremely noisy. Total lack of sleep and drunk people lolling everywhere.

I thought the location of the hotel was great, being in the centre you were close to all bars, restaurants and shopping area. Hotel is also very close to the train station which is good. The bed was also extremely comfy meaning I enjoyed a really good sleep. I may be being picky here but as I was staying on business, and had come to the end of a very long day, especially with the travelling, I didn't want to do much when I arrived at the hotel. The hotel doesn't have it's own parking, although there is a large multi storey car park over the road, which I wasn't keen on as I was on my own and arrived late in the evening. Also, there is no room service available at this hotel, which I found a bit of a hassle, as I had to get dressed again to go down to the main reception to pick up my order and take back up to my room.

Location was fantastic! Less than a five minute walk to the train station. It took about 10 minutes to walk to St Jame's Park, 'The Gate' and Eldon Square. Staff were very friendly. We arrived in Newcastle just before 11am. We turned up at the hotel, just asking if we could leave our luggage, but the deputy manager checked us in and gave us a room straight away. Breakfast was great. It was included in our room rate. Only a few minor points. Firstly, the hotel is a favourite for hen and stag nights, and large groups of people in general. Therefore, it was noisy. Once people went out for the night though, the noise died down. Only other thing is that we only had one pillow each. I asked on 2 separate occasions for another couple of pillows but these never appeared.

Fab location right next to the central station and close to the shops and night life. We arrived by car on new years day and parked in the near by times square car park which cost £12 for 24 hours. We were allocated a room on the 5th floor and were not disappointed. The bedroom was freshly decorated, the bed was comfortable and the bathroom spacious and clean. As you would expect, the rooms had tea and coffee making facilities, a desk and reading light, and a Flatscreen TV with a selection of channels. The hotel was very busy with a young clientele, but I would recommend and use again.

As a Fellow of the Institiute of Hospitality I dont normally criticise hotels and restaurants I visit. However the following constructive criticisms may be helpful to you in future. ( please see below) We had an evening meal. As vegetarians we know there is always a limited choice. After deliberating and choosing a dish we were informed that "that isnt on tonight".When I asked if there was an alrernartive I was told just whats on the, menu. The restuarant was very cold and the waitress knew nothing aabouut the wine menu and had to go and ask somebody when we asked her a question regarding the wine. The meal and wine we did have was very nice.

Style; Rooms; Cleanliness; Good public areas; Location For a first visit it was very difficult to find, despite satnav. Address on website Scotswood Road, but you have to turn off to get to hotel. No signs anywhere. Address at hotel shown as 1 - 3 (St. James Road, or similar) why not on website??? Satnav would have found it. Plus, the direction we came in at the Jurys Inn sign itself was not visible. The breakfast 'registration' desk was a fiasco, with queues of people, even late on. People were actually having to pay at the entrance desk! Just slowed the whole process down considerably. Breakfast itself was good. Plus, there was not enough room around the buffet bar I recommend below because of the positives, but these two items need sorting. I would tell my friends to beware the breakfast.

Nice and clean, liked the range of soft lights. It was close to where I wanted to visit things so location perfect, despite being next to the dual carriageway. It was really important to have friendly staff, and they were. Would have liked more tea and coffee stuff - I kept running out of milk. We would have eaten breakfast in the hotel but it was too expensive, especially as the price was the same for children - small children don't eat much !

Breakfast was pretty good. Location to the train station was the main reason we chose Jurys. Very surprised there was no air-conditioning or mini-bar in the room. Hotel room was very basic considering the hotel is fairly new. Had a room at the back which was very noisy due to a busy road/bypass.

Room stank of urine. Unfortunately, it was late at night and there was no alternative. They did send someone to clean it but this was not satisfactory really. Staff did not seem either surprised or bothered.

Beds were very comfortable Did not explain about using the key to turn on the lights and power - had to go back to reception to find out. Notice in the room or above key slot would have been helpful. Shower very disappointing - too high and not adjustable. Bath handle too high for getting out of bath easily - slipped as a result

The bar and lounge area was comfortable. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The breakfast choice was very good. There is no car park. The beds were not very comfortable. Our room was not very quiet due to traffic noise and knocking pipes/extractor fan.

The hotel is very convenient for the station. The room was fine. I stayed for two nights the first night which was Thursday was fine, but the second night I was continually disturbed by noisy young men in the corridor and had a very bad nights sleep. The manager did come and ask the guests to be quiet but it didn't have much effect. I did tell the reception when I left that I was very unhappy.

When I got to my room it smelled of smoke also after arriving back after a night out I was escorted to reception by a doorman to check that I had paid for my boyfriend to stay the night. He was checking to make sure that I had not just picked him up in town and was taking him back to the hotel for the night!!! Won't be staying again

Jurys inn is clearly used as a stag and hen party hotel , NOT the place to book families in to . therefore on arrival we were advised that there could be a little noise more like a incredibly loud noise .When making a reservation customers should be made fully aware .
