Central location Good breakfast
The breakfasts and the location are very good
inconsistent cleaning of the room, no lift to the third or fourth floor and no help carrying luggage upstairs
Excellent location for Fringe Festival.
What's not to like?
Excellent location, superb breakfast, very friendly and helpful staff. During the Festival, when most accommodation is priced out of this world, this is a reliable, very comfortable, accessible place to stay.
Nothing, the place has improved year by year. The bathroom is fairly basic, but has been upgraded as much as is possible. Altogether highly recommended.
Great breakfast - even had gluten free toast. Basic clean rooms.
Very warm in our room on the 4th floor even with radiator off. Only had one velux window to open.
Basic comfort...no frills. Friendly staff. Location. Safety.
Very small bathrooms...tiny handbasin! Very late warning of water cut-off on 30 August. Lack of porridge in (otherwise) a good breakfast. Very small table for 4 at breakfast.
Staff was very kind, Good breakfast. The room was nice.
convenient location: walking distance of Waverley Station and the Castle, excellent breakfast, security safe in room, good price considering the festival was just starting.
a wider double bed would have been nice
Location, very clean! Outstanding breakfast with fresh fruit and great choice. Would recommend for overnight stay!
Basic bathroom/wet room !
Everything in walking distance, freshly prepared breakfast, friendly staff
Mattress was too soft for my liking
Very good breakfast, soya milk, fresh fruit, very helpful staff.
Convenient location Clean, comfortable room Great breakfast
Offensive and unhelpful receptionist on the day of our departure (22 August), unlike the one on our arrival (21 August) who was exceptionally helpful! Doubling of price during the Festival!!!
Very good breakfast Helpful staff Convenient location off main roads A fair price even at Festival time
Rather like student halls of residence Cramped bathroom Some noise outside late at night (bottle recycling?) Weedy coffee
The well designed room. The good breakfast and service, THE RECEPTION WAS PLEASANT AND EFFICIENT, The situation of the acco mmodation wasgood once we got our bearings. The taxi ordering service was vert efficient,
We are no longer in the first flush of youth so the third floor was quite daunting with luggage.
location, excellent breakfast,clean and secure.
Being able to walk to the Queen's Hall and Festival Theatre. Only one or two buses to reach Usher Hall. Ample choice at breakfast and very attentive staff there and at registration
Dangerous pavement in need of repair outside front of Kenneth Mackenzie, but not your responsibility, I think.
Kenneth Mackenzie was exactly what I was looking for for my stay in Edinburgh for the fringe. It was reasonably priced with a great breakfast and really helpful staff! In terms of location it was perfect. A stones throw from all the major venues for the fringe.
I really like staying here. I stayed there last year too but if I had one thing that I didn't like was that it was incredibly loud outside my room with vans and lorries loading from around 7.30 am. But this is nothing to do with the hotel itself which I was pleased with.
We could not fault anything the room, the breakfast, everything was absolutely fabulous, considering we booked it 3 days before arriving we had a fantastic room
Bed was comfortable, Food was beautiful and perfectly cooked. Staff couldn't have been more helpful. Free WiFi was much appreciated during the fringe!
People in rear building took to regually putting large items in a skip around 4am making large crashes waking us up. This isn't Kenneth Makenzie's fault, but perhaps a polite word in their ear? Would have liked to seen baked beans on the breakfast menu.
Staff were very helpful. Booked a taxis when I needed it. Looked things on the internet for me. Breakfast was good with a wide variety of food available for all tastes. Was free WI in rooms. Comfortable clean room.
Was a bit hot in room.
Great breakfasts. Clean central safe accommodation. So close to all the Fringe events but quiet. Basic rooms but comfortable.
Would love to have had a fridge! I was there for a week so would have been handy.
Great breakfast, nice staff, good location.
This is not a hotel - it appears to be student accomodation. Room small and cramped and so hot and stuffy. Taps dripped constantly. Could not sleep due to all that and the sound of snoring through the wafer-thin walls. Way too expensive - I've stayed in 4* hotels in places like Honolulu for this price. Recommend you find somewhere else.
Staff, location & breakfast. Bed comfy.
To use kettle, had to stand kettle on the floor, for socket. Kettle had water in when I arrived. Smell in the bathroom, I think this would be from a cloth/mop that had not been dried open & aired. eg not folded or screwed up.
Excellent breakfast, comfortable room, very friendly staff and great location.
