Everything. This Hotel needs shutting down ASAP. Dirty disgusting & dangerous. Health & Safety issues all over the place. My mother, I & my two young boys went, excited about Cadburys world trip. This Hotel spoilt the trip. The night of arrival & before our trip in the afternoon, we wanted to come home. It's a half way house for the homeless, mixing with tourists. Nothing against the homeless, but I don't know why they are there & was always having to keep a close eye on my childrens safety. No bins in the room. People wandering about. Dirty baths/showers. Mine & my childrens room was in a different building. No lights from reception, holding my childrens hands to stop any broken ankles. Mum stayed with us for the night, in our room, for fear of her safety & belongings. Her room wasn't used. 3 in a bed for me, great.. Staff in the customer lounge, mixing with us, like it was their lounge, with their shoes off, feet on coffee table, smelly feet, which seriously offended my mum. No breakfast, as no staff to be seen. We were promised a Continental Breakfast? This surely breaks the contract. Two hungry young boys & no food in the morning..!!!!. How do I explain that to them??. I want a full refund please. This place can't be real. It's a joke. I am currently in touch with Envoirnmental Health Birmingham council to have it shut down. In the breakfast room/kitchen, there is a sink with pots that must have been in there for days, probably the homeless guests. Advice. DO NOT HAVE THIS HOTEL ON YOUR WEBSITE. Please contact me as to how I get a refund & also to inform me when this place is shut, or is just for the half way house homeless only. Pete
Nothing at all. Total disappointment . Continental breakfast was suppose to be offered according to the website, but in the morning we were surprised to see that nothing was prepared for us. None of the staff showed up. Absolute disaster. It should not be called a 2x or 3x hotel. It is even worse than a backpacker. Never again in my life will I book there.6
Cheap, I knew it wasn't going to be palatial! Fresh towels. Comfortable bed.
It's seen better days, scruffy reception, no breakfast, no milk with beverage making facilities in the room.
Location for purpose of visiting family living nearby.
Everything else. Not fit for purpose. Major work needed to bring to acceptable standard. No breakfast / staff on morning of departure and filth of kitchen cause of major concern.
near to edgbaston cricket ground and bus stop out side door
bit to plane 2 star
DO NOT STAY HERE Reception area smelt and was locked, nowhere to wait. Area was also a dump once inside. Holes in wall in the room. No clean towels, had to ask for these along with cups for the shabbily presented tea making facilities. Light in bathroom did not work, was fixed once this was pointed out. TV did not work , no offer of one that did. A Wham Chew Sweet Bar found in the bed. Curtains not ironed or hung correctly. Floors and walls dirty. Furniture tatty and some of it broken. Breakfast was not continental as advertised. False advertising all round. No lock on the room door, but the annex building had a dead lock on the front door, could be a fire hazard. No notices for fire precaution or fire hydrants. No emergency notices.
close to my son's university residence
the whole experience, matress was lumpy and gave me a backache, bathroom was not clean, did not use the shower at all. Room smelled stale and mouldy. Breakfast service was diabolical. No cloths on the table, frozen bread, chipped crockery, dirty equipment , staff very unfriendly . The staff literally threw the breakfast on the table. It was not ready when we arrived . This hotel should be closed down. The website and its pictures were very deceiving. Will not recommend this to anyone.
Victoria features and the toaster, clean sheets
Where does one start. Dirty, mouldy, dirty, matteress springs, faulty alarm. Broken doors. Etc etc
The Kensington is a grand looking building. The sheets seemed to be clean.
The damp, mildew smell as you enter the building. The curtains falling off the windows. The 'ensuite' was a sliding door at the end of the bed that didn't work (Like sitting in a wardrobe). The TV didn't work...small aerial in room in this day and age??? Cheap tasteless coffee and tea in the room.Dirty carpets. The staff were nowhere to be seen on our last day. The toaster would have set light to the hotel if I hadn't switched it off before I left and dropped the keys in a box at the door on my way out. Very overpriced for what you get.
This is not a hotel but a low budget guest house. The room was clean enough though smelt very damp & muggy. The "en suite" bathroom was terrible - we only used the toilet if we needed, and coudn't bring ourselves to use the shower! Plus no continental breakfast to be seen anywhere!!!
