We enjoyed our stay at Thistle. Our party included myself and my two adult daughters. We stayed in a triple room which was neat, clean and roomy. We really liked the large bathroom and the fantastic shower! It was perfect for us, near the Tube station and the little gas station/store right nearby was perfect for those snacks, drinks, etc we may need. We enjoyed the nearby restaurants and the Starbuck. This hotel was perfect for our needs out early for sightseeing, in late and a comfortable bed to relax.

Lovely hotel as describe in other peoples reviews. The refurb is beautiful from the bedrooms, bathroom, reception, dining room and lounge area. The room was spotless. The bathroom luxurious. Although we did not eat in at the hotel, we did have a drink one night in the lounge. I must say, it was very nice. I also thought it was good that we had to use a key in the lift to get up to the main reception and our room. This stopped anyone not staying at the hotel coming in. We recommend the White Swan pub just further down the road. Very good meals and some nights had live entertainment. It was about 15mins walk to Oxford Street and directly across the road to Kensington Gardens. We arrived at Kings Cross Station and caught the 390 bus just further up the road costing £2.20 each. It dropped us off directly across the road from the hotel on Bayswater Road. We did the same when we were going home. Very handy and stopped us getting lost on the underground or paying pounds for a taxi. Would stay at this hotel again.

Polite and friendly staff very clean and comfortable rooms nice bar area. The concierge was situated on the ground floor whilst reception was on first. Concierge not always in attendance so a delay in collecting luggage from storage occurred.

The hotel was in a fabulous location, next to Hyde Park and Kensington Gardens. It was a twenty minute walk to Oxford Street. Directly outside the hotel was a bus stop and the stop for the Big bus tour around London. The hotel was very clean. The tea and coffee making facilities in the room was a great bonus.Breakfast was a reasonable price at £10 per head. The room was really small. The food served for breakfast was just satisfactory and basic.

Staff were without exception kind, helpful, professional and friendly. Breakfast was wonderful with a wide selection. The bathroom was modern and clean but very small. The ( executive) bedroom was also a little bit cramped.

Very polite, friendly and helpful staff. The Hotel was ideally located. within 250 yards of Queensway Station with good bus links. The surrounding area was well served by restaurants and pubs although visitors should be aware this is a tourist area and prices refllect this. Drinks in the the hotel were expensive (£4-50 for 300 mls of London Pride). The breakfast was excellent and we took advantage of the special offer of £10. The rooms were excellent, very clean and with all the facilities you would expect from a 4 star hotel. The hotel was good but be aware that you may pay a premium for a room with a view of the park

My stay at the Thistle Kensington Gardens was totally successful. I have stayed in several hotels in the Bayswater area, with different standards but just about similar hotel rate...and have given my opinion each time. This hotel won my approval. Even our wish for feather pillows was granted...as it was a natural thing to ask, I found out. Another element that was also very positive ( the only hotel with such a service!)... The flexibility to dine in our room . With a full room service menu from which we selected dishes, served like a gourmet restaurant would. Finally, I wish to name and thank Mr. Sam Dias, Housekeeping Manager, who took the time in his very gracious manner to give me a tour and see different rooms! He also noted my comments and answered them with honesty and respect. He scored high in my hotel appraisal! There were a few details in my room ( Executive Double Room #911)...that Mr. Dias ( see above) noted. The room is very spacious but if one orders room service, which is brought and served so elegantly,, the small "coffee- " table does not do the honour to receive it on ! There is space enough to include a larger table ... The desk itself is... A desk, not a dining table. On each side of the bed, a nightstand. But no drawers. Only 2 drawers on the desk. One has the tea maker, cups etc... and the one under has the hairdryer... I would have liked more space to put our things away. Another bothersome detail: The noise made by slamming of room doors. Most people ( guests) do not understand how to " close" a door gently and the "hinge"mechanism does that for them... But with a loudness that disturbs one's sleep or rest. I told Mr. Dias about it, detail he knew, and he assured me that the doors would be adjusted, and also have some kind of simple " buffer" on them in order to moderate its noise when shut. I would very much appreciate www.booking.com to pass my comments to Mr.Dias with all my gratitude for his excellent services!

Perfect location over looking Kensington gardens! Quiet after the hustle and bustle of central London. Clean rooms, friendly staff, comfty bed. Close to tube station. Pubs and food places convenient, cash point. The breakfast was not worth it's value - not very nice coffee ! Bath tub didn't drain when taking a shower.

The staff, from the housekeeping we saw in the hallway all the way to the reception, concierge, and restaurant, were all incredibly helpful and friendly. The hotel is lovely inside, although the family room we stayed in was quite small. The breakfast was very good, but also very expensive. It was very clean, as well, and the location is superb for staying in a nice part of the city with easy access to tourist buses and all the main sites you want to see as a tourist in London. Also quite handy for the American Embassy, which is why we chose this particular location, as we were combining business with pleasure this trip. The internet access was non-existent as they were out of vouchers and the website would time out before any could be purchased. The elevators are incredibly tiny and very slow and the key cards you have to use to make them work don't work that well. It was a recurring problem, not just for us, but others in the hotel. There is a gas station/garage under part of the hotel, so when we had our window open, we were inundated with fumes. The bed and pillows were very uncomfortable. All in all, not what you would expect for as much as you have to pay to stay there.

This was booked for my mum & dad as a Xmas present. They wer upgraded to a suite. They raved about the hotel and location. They thought the staff and food were excellent. The service was (in their words) first class. My mum is a stickler for cleanliness. Her opinion was excellent. One quick tip, I didn't book the breakfast online, due to the £15 charge. However on arrival were offered breakfast at £10 each. They took the offer up and said it was worth the cost (considering it is central London). All in all, they were happy, so I was happy. Gonna book myself in there, to check it out.
