A very nice place to stay. The location was right on the center of the village with shops and restaurants all around it We had a family room that was beautifully decorated. The breakfast was also good.

Owner was extremely friendly and very, very helpful. Room was great, comfortable and clean. Breakfast excellent. A fantastic spot to stay with many things to do in the area.

    Parking could be tricky.

The friendliness of our host, Simon. The excellent & flexibility of breakfasts. Having a comfortable settee in a spacious room. Easy access with our own key. Central location for all of our orienteering events, and also plenty of eateries nearby so we didn't need to go far after a strenuous days activity.

Not enough shelving in the en-suite to put all our toiletries on.

    Breakfast

The bath room is outside the family room - very misleading. The place not close to the 8.6 review - very disappointed. 3rd floor, 36 steps. Very small and need and update. Noisy until midnight from pub across the street. Uncomfortable mattress.

Lovely room, the bed was extremely comfortable. Ensuite was lovely and clean. Ideal room. Excellent location and very friendly staff

Parking was an issue. Sharp left from the road and very very steep. While their grand daughter was a lovely girl, she was very full on at breakfast time, mithering all guests.

Everything was excellent. Thank you to Simon for making us feel at home and going out of your way to cook us a very early breakfast on Sunday morning as we had to be at a charity row before 8.am. The rooms were pretty, clean and very comfortable. The hospitality was second to none and the location perfect. Would definitely stay again and recommend.

    Nothing to dislike at all

The room was lovely and quiet and the huge breakfast was delicious

Parking was a bit scary as you have to reverse uphill to park but you could park nearby and they would give you a permit.

Location was perfect. Friendly staff. Lovely breakfast.

Shower tripped off, whilst halfway through. En-suite not in room, on landing. The owners 7yr old daughter was a bit too full on.

Both Simon and Sandra made our family feel at home with their helpful advice on what our family could do in our 2 days at Lake District. Our kids also got on well with their very helpful Olivia which made the atmosphere lace warm and cosy. Our room was very well maintained and well stocked with toiletries & refreshments, and we all had a good 2 night's sleep. Both mornings we had at Lake District were greeted with a freshly cooked hearty breakfast which kept us filled for much of our activity filled days. Ambleside too, was a rather pleasant change to stay from the more crowded Windermere during previous visits.

Getting up the driveway was definitely a challenge for a first-timer, but fortunately we were closely guided by owner Simon who was expecting us, and our car was automatic.

    Loved the location

The room wasn't worth £250.00 it stated on the web site 'family room with private bathroom' there was nothing private about it! Had to cross the landing to get to it!!
