One of the best hotels we stay at for value, location and comfort

We always stay here when visiting sheffeild, the price is very good, the staff are always polite and it's in a terrific location and yet just over a mile from the city centre

Poor housekeeping, hotel needs to devote more resources to this area.

The pool/spa facilities were good and easy to use.It is near to the city,which gives a choice for eating out of the hotel.Because of the grounds and Lake it felt like being at a country retreat,the Location is very good.

The Hotel is in need of refurbishment.Small details spoilt the Stay.Things like the Hot/Cold markers on the taps for the bath were missing.The tea/coffee and bottled water supplies not renewed.The tv in the room was old. Most places have flat screen tv's these days.

We really liked the location in the middle of a wonderful garden of this nice hotel. We enjoyed very much the size of the room which in addition to the part with the bed comprised a kind of living part (I guess that we were upgraded). The facilities offered by the hotel (swimming pool, steam room, sauna, free parking, free WIFI) were much appreciated. The staff was friendly and helpful. Finally we were very positive about the fantastic breakfast offering a large choice as well for a British as for a continental breakfast.

The cleaningness of the rooms was not at a high level, layers of dust were present on some parts of the furniture of the room and bathroom. The bins were not emptied every day.Some parts of the equipment were outdated: the carpets in the corridors was worn, the paintwork at the ceiling was crackeled, the plastic mixing tap in the bathroom looked cheap and not clean (bottom side). Despite all this we had a good time at this hotel and we think that by only improving these few points it could become a real top-class hotel.

A quiet,leafy setting with comfortable rooms. Pleasant restaurant. Free parking.

The decor of bedroom especially bathroom in need of refurbishment. Checking in seemed to take for ever!

check-in: I booked a twin room, but the hotel had reserved a double room; we were told that the conversion of a room from double to twin would take 10-15 minutes; however, we waited for over an hour; I would have expected a discount of some sort or at least a complimentary cup of coffee while we waited, we didn't even get an apology facilities: we chose this hotel especially because it was stated that it had a sauna, however, sauna was closed and again no refund or discount or another offer to make up for it little things: one had to go to the reception to pick up tea bags/coffee; very limited shower gel available in the bathrooms

The food was splendid.

I thought the hotel looked lovely on appearance although some of the staff seemed quite abrupt, also the hotel was cold, when we arrived to our room later on in the evening we had to request the heating be put on as the radiator was cold the gentleman which dealt with our complaint was helpful and gave us an electric heater although this did not work. There was only one flat pillow on the bed and enough coffee for only one cup each. The room was dusty and hair on the bathroom floor. I thought I was booking a luxury hotel but found the standard to be that lower than a budget hotel.
