Good location in Sheffield Good size room Nice, well maintained grounds and lake
Friendly staff,good facilitesand good position
The room was very spacious.
The decor is a bit dated but realise other rooms are being refurbished.
Nice specious rooms and friendly helpful staff.
We thought that the price of the drinks were far to high - £10:00 for a glass of wine....
Nice quiet location and lovely surroundings but very central for Sheffield. Excellent buffet cooked breakfast and very flexible and friendly staff.
Parking is an issue here when there is a function which there is most Saturdays. Also, water hammer and poor flush in bathroom. TV is very small and old with very few channels.
Convenient location, clean, good breakfast. Nice bar food, but we had to make a fuss to get a snack after 10 p.m. on return from an evening event.
We were kindly upgraded to a feature room with balcony, patio, picture windows floor to ceiling. This would have been wonderful in the Summer, but the room was literally FREEZING on a cold January evening! No towel radiator in bathroom - also freezing cold! Room was miles away from Reception/bar etc. Not an issue for us, but would exhaust someone with limited mobility.
Staff, rooms and breakfast were good, didn't get chance to use the spa, beautiful setting with lovely views!
I didn't like the fact that we'd booked a double room and didn't know until we got in our room it was for the disabled, it also had 2 single beds fastened together instead of a double bed..
The Spa / pool was good.
The food was not good. Also we arrived under the impression that breakfast was included in the rate - as this is what the Booking website said. But it wasn't and it cost our family almost £50 extra for breakfast.
a nicely different menu that for once had a chef who was capable of cooking it. Delightful meal.
Food was first class and the staff were wonderful
The facilities in the rooms need updating, such as the tv and decor.
We liked the friendly reception, the clean and comfortable room, and the gardens around the hotel.
No fridge with drinks in the room, breakfast only until 9:30, continuously smashing doors between kitchen and restaurant made stay at the restaurant uncomfortable, service in the restaurant at breakfast below standard of hotel.
Nice grounds too walk dog in. Rooms are a little dated but very comfortable and clean
Great location, quiet, comfy and relaxed
Country style hotel with full facilities close to City centre
Old box style tv's with channels 1-4 and 5 in fuzzy picture have no place in hotels, even if you do have sky sports. Flat screens and freeview are the minimum requirement.
Breakfast staff and gardens
My room had a door to a communicating door to another room and you could hear the other guests breathe!
The staff were all attentive and friendly, they were all very helpful and polite. The facilities were great and the location of the hotel was ideal for either lazing around or going to explore Sheffield. Fresh towels and bedding were issued throughout the week, always plenty of tea/coffee facilities available in our room.
The hotel from the outside looks 4* but the interior and the fixtures/fitting's let it down. On arrival the plastic room key's wouldn't work, after new ones were coded the card slot (to switch on the lights) fell off the wall after entry to our room was gained. We we're offered a room facing a grass bank and then the room we were finally put in (which was supposed to be an upgrade) had a faulty double glazed window. It steamed up on the inside of the glass and never cleared so the view to the garden was always blurred, not what I expected from a class establishment. The bathroom was very dated and there was a broken hook on the back of the bathroom door. The fan in there didn't work so you had to shower with the door ajar or the whole room filled with steam! The last "Incident" was exiting through the rotating door after checkout. The door jammed half rotation and a member of staff had to assist!. The attention to detail seems to lack in a huge way!
Staff were really friendly and helpful. Breakfast was great and staff went extra mile.
The TV's in the standard rooms are from the dark ages and don't work. The staff were great about it but the hotel needs to upgrade the standard rooms to flat screen TV's which are no real cost.
That everyone was friendly and polite but also left you alone unless you required a service
There was no information in the room about services, breakfast times etc.
The staff were very attentive and polite
The food was awful. Poorly presented, greasy and largely tasteless. The rooms are shabby. Would not return.
Staff were extremely helpful.
Location, space, facilities and value for money.
It was quite a walk to the room, but that could be achieved better by leaving the hotel and walking around to the older part by road.
An ideal pet friendly stay with excellent grounds for exercising dogs.
Charges are quite high for each pet compared to other hotels in other locations where pets go free.
Food fantastic, very friendly and helpful staff
Hotel is very modern, rooms on a par with premier inn !! Photos with old hall in on website are very misleading-if we strained our necks we could just about see the old hall from our 1970's block !! Double glazing units in room all broken so it was hard to see out at all. If you are looking for a relaxing/secluded retreat I wouldn't bother but if it's just a business trip it would be fine .
Great staff. Pet friendly and great food.
Great spa facilities, bar and location. Breakfast was great and the staff were very helpful. Would definitely stay here again.
The heating in the bedroom was turned up too high and there didn't seem to be any way to turn it down!
