This Grade I listed hotel, pub and tea room is just a mile from Portsmouth’s Continental Ferry Port. The George Hotel’s en suite accommodation comes including free Wi-Fi and breakfast.
Score from 382 reviews Very good
This modern hotel is in the middle of Portsmouth, just 1700 ft from Portsmouth and Southsea Train Station. The Ibis Hotel Portsmouth has a 24-hour snack menu, on-site parking and a stylish restaurant....
Score from 1462 reviews Good
The Royal Maritime Club is just a 5-minute walk from the Gunwharf Quays waterfront development and Portsmouth’s Historic Dockyard. It features free Wi-Fi, a swimming pool and gym.
Score from 675 reviews Good
Superbly located in Portsmouth’s lively waterfront development, Gunwharf Quays, this hotel offers bright, modern rooms with buffet breakfasts. Stores, bars and restaurants are on the hotel doorstep.
Score from 824 reviews Very good
Close to amenities. Able to park and leave car for the duration. Good breakfast provided and suited to all tastes
Only the fact that the hotel decor is looking tired.
Friendly and helpfull staff and an excellent breakfast.
Staff all very friendly and happy to help. Great breakfast. Charm of the hotel including the old fashioned lift. Location is great
location breakfast staff
the rooms are clean but need refreshing
Facilities , no shower no hairdryer carpet in bathroom. Furniture and decor very old and poor condition. Breakfast terrible
The location of this hotel is ideal if you are going to the Portsmouth Maritime Museum. As we were able to park our car in the hotel's car park while visiting the museum it made our stay very easy. The rooms lack charm but are clean and satisfactory for a short stay.
Great location, very good breakfast, excellent parking.
A wee bit tired and had to go downstairs for internet.
Very good breakfast.
Bed creaky and moved when we turned over
free car park, lift, views
The staff were fantastic, helpful and the breakfast is freshly cooked to order. Due to its proximity to the Historic Dockyard and the history of the building it was a place I wanted to stay...and will stay again :)
Due to its age the hotel is in need of an internal face lift, the period features are lovely but the rooms/bathrooms need freshening up/decorating. But they are clean and functional....
If you can see beyond the decor and are looking for a clean place to lay your head after a days shopping and a few drinks then this is the place to stay, so reasonable and with parking and breakfast included you can't go wrong
Old building with character. Large Room. Good location for Dockyard etc. Helpful staff. Good breakfast & service.
Faded feel to carpets, paintwork etc. No shower, only bath. TV didn't work properly. Creaky bed and creaky bed in room above.
Excellent position near to Historic Dockyard, shops, bars and restaurants and travel interchange.
Trade off for position is that hotel surroundings are very noisy. Hotel interior is very 'tired' and seriously in need of refurbishment.
Perfect location close to all amenities . Friendly staff good food
Basic facilities in the room no hair dryer available in room Despite this I will be returning to this very popular hotel hair dryer in this net time
Excellant location, parking close by, very helpful staff, food good.
The street noise. The hotel is directly opposite a diner and it is popular all through the night. Just remember to include your ear plugs.
The wonderful breakfast in the lovely dining room and the bar lounge was relaxing with large comfortable armchairs. Free wifi downstairs but weak in my bedroom. Staff were friendly and helpful. Handy to Gunwharf Quays shopping complex.
The old hotel is overall rather shabby and in need of maintenance, especially the paint, wallpaper and dining-room ceiling. The lift was shakey and the lock on the bedroom door should be easier to use and a security chain added inside. The view from my room was of a dark grey brick wall and some dilapidated buildings.
We wanted to spend two days exploring the Historic Dockyard. The Hotel was perfectly placed and there was free parking. In the evening the restaurants in Gunwarf Quays was just a short walk away. We really enjoyed our stay and would recommend it.
Location Convenient parking Friendly staff Good breakfast Cheap so overall reasonable vfm
Bed a bit uncomfortable Bathroom from 70s, cracked sink, no shower, only sachets of shampoo that weren't replaced when used General decor very tatty throughout
train station next door. Good value for budget traveler. Good breakfast with attentive service.
Location. Period features.
Needs modernising a bit.
If you are visiting the Victory and Mary Rose, this is a perfect place to stay. The hotel could be in better shape but the beardfast wa good.
Hotel is a bit run down.
The hotel was close to Portsmouth's Historic Dockyard, where we wanted to be. Good car parking available. Friendly welcome with very helpful guide to locations and shops. Room fairly small but adequate, and well apart from the noise of the nearby road and rail station. Breakfast served efficiently and good quality.
Hotel badly needs a makeover. Paintwork needs redoing, and there were shabby worn carpets on stairs. Our room was hard to reach with luggage, a long way from a lift.
Staff. Breakfast. Location
A bit tired but good value
Excellent breakfast. The sense of history which pervades.
The hotel needs a decorative overhaul. It has a shabby and uncared for feel which is such a pity as the location for the harbour, museums and shopping centre is perfect.
Location, Service, Staff
The room decor is dated which is not to everyone's taste but they are clean.
