The friendliness, wonderful rooms, super bathrooms. Excellent food. Host who know exactly how to cater for their guests.
Could not fault anything.
Maurice and Wendy the owners are terrific, very friendly. Wendy says she's the cook, but I told her she is more a Chef than a cook, her scrambled eggs at breakfast were to die for! All other meals I had in the evening were excellent. The bedroom was spacious and clean with a large picture window looking over the moor. So quiet at night and so dark outside you could see the Milky Way. Can't wait to get back there!
Warm welcome and attentive service. Good sized room (room 3) with views. Very acceptable food. Reasonably priced.
Maurice and Wendy were helpful from the booking stage right until we left.Nothing was a problem for them ,the room was spotless and so comfortable with terrific view. The food all cooked by Wendy was tasty but reasonably priced as was the cask ales.It was perfect.
Having to come home
Great food Friendly landlord and landlady Quiet location Lovely views from the bedroom window Good value
Bathroom was small
Good beds Value for money People
Food Room was cold, heater did not work?
Good food, good beer, good prices adequate facilities.
Roads in the surrounding countryside a bit narrow & not many road signs. Mobile phone reception non existant.
Great food too
car parking staff attitude cleanliness comfortable beds will take a well-behaved dog, we might take one next time and would recommend relations/friends/dog lovers to look here. good menu with any combination of courses
morning coffee was weak
Location, food, staff, room, views, all excellent.
I thought the remote rural location on the edge of Dartmoor was delightful. The local customers were clearly well known to the staff and to each other, as were their various dogs.
The Kestor Inn lies outside the range of my mobile phone provider which also meant Google Maps was not available to guide me to my night's accommodation. That's not a criticism but part of the charm of the place.
Food was good quality as was the beer and our room was very clean, spacious and comfortable.
Tiny point - perhaps some music at breakfast time - just a personal preference.
Friendly people. Countryside. Dartmoor and fresh air and near all the places i.e. Chagford, Fingle Bridge and various Tors on the Moor so a lot of nostalgia. Peace, freedom and happiness.
No downsides - just loved it.
Great service, great food and a lovely pub. If you´re looking for a quiet nights sleep in Dartmoor this is a superb choice.
Location if you want to get out and about on dart moor.
Looked a bit drab on entry but is undergoing revamp
the advice on walks, value for money, the hospitality, the comfort, the views from our room, the big windows, and staying in an independent family run Inn. It was great to come back after a long walk to a hot shower and an honest home-cooked pub meal and a pint of Dartmoor Legend!
Everything was fantastic from location, friendliness, rooms were immaculate, food excellent and the beer was amazing too - we would to go back.
Good hospitality, very welcoming. Friendly owners and staff, VERY GOOD HOME COOKED FOOD!! Lovely views over Dartmoor.
Small bathroom, but everything worked efficiently. Having to leave!
Excellent fare, great base for exploring Dartmoor and friendly and helpful staff.
Rooms newly renovated Cleanliness Very familiar atmosphere Meals are tasty and are prepared freshly Arrived at a time of little business, so the owners told me I could have breakfast at whatever time suited me best. Same for check-out, I was told to take as much time as I wanted
Had to hire a taxi to get there because there is no public transport apart from a bus that only goes twice a week Generally, really difficult to get around the area without a car Had a room at the back of the inn, so wifi signal was weak
Very friendly staff, good food, made our dog very welcome too.
Single occupancy at a reasonable price makes a refreshing change! Great food also at reasonable prices, attentive owners and a lovely breakfast cooked on request and brought hot to the table.
Three out of four roads into the village are VERY narrow and overgrown. Both door mirrors brushing the hedges! Approach from Bovey Tracey.
The view and the food. I had a whole sole and some salad; both the cooking and the freshness of the fish was as good as I've eaten anywhere in the world. Breakfast also excellent I was made very welcome and enjoyed the local cider.
Bit noisy until inn shuts but then this is a CAMRA listed pub, which makes the beer excellent and it's lovely to see locals gather, so not a big deal
