On 4 acres of lawns and tended gardens, the elegant Keswick Country House Hotel is only a 5-minute walk from the center of Keswick. The restaurant offers fine dining and lovely views of the grounds.
The Lonsdale Restaurant uses local produce in the creative menu, served in luxurious surroundings. There is free Wi-Fi in public areas, a cozy bar, and afternoon tea is available in the sun room. Some rooms are in the old Keswick Train Station building, and can be accessed by the original station platform. The beautiful gardens at Hotel Keswick have walkways and guests can play croquet on the lawns. Hotel Rooms: 74, Hotel Chain: Choice (UK).

Nice traditional English hotel with comfort and ease of use. Some odd things like not providing guest umbrellas (in rainy Lakes district) and being told the hot water for showering was not available till 7am. When a concern did come up the staff were not that eager to assist. Every extra was charged for so there was little good will if anything additional was needed.

I liked the fact that it was an old hotel with a lot of character. The building and grounds were well presented.

The Keswick Coutry House Hotel is situated ideally for walking in the Lakes. There are numerous walks that can be done directly from the hotel which means once you've parked your car you can have a rest from driving and enjoy plenty of walks and climbs around Keswick. We have been to the hotel 4 times and plan many more visits. Although many of the rooms do need a bit of tlc they are clean and comfortable and the staff are all very helpful and friendly. Beakfasts are very good with a wide choice of hot or cold buffets and the evening meals are good with great food and excellent staff in the restaurant. We did not like the congregation of smokers standing out side the front door. Sometimes it was like walking through a fog to get into the hotel and when the revolving door was folded open the reception area was full of smoke. I wish that the hotel would provide a smokers hut away from the front door.

It is close to Keswick town centre but still has a feeling of being remote. The room was a decent size but sloped slightly which gave a feeling of being tipsy when I am teetotal. The staff were very friendly and the breakfast exellent. The lift worked very well despite the hotel being busy. Reception/check-out was effiicient. The lounge/bar was very comfortable and service good. Attractive grounds to walk around. A lick of paint here and there would not go amiss. The car park, although a decent size was full most of the weekend.

The location was perfect, requiring just a few minutes walk to the centre of Keswick. Perfect for an evening walk. The drawing room was very relaxing, and the hotel had a homely feel about it. Paying at checkin, rather than at check out. Would be far better to take a credit card swipe at checkin, or a deposit only.

The breakfast was very good and one of the best I have ever experienced in a hotel. The hotel was in the process of being redecorated. This was not mentioned when we booked the room. The hotel did need redecorating as it looked like a throwback from the 1970s. The decorators blocked both staircases at the same time making access to and from the room difficult. One at once would have been more thoughtful to the guests. Also the room we got was actually on a slope!

The hotel was extremely over priced for the standard of room and breakfast offered. We were very disappointed at the shabbiness and size of the room given the premium price charged. The bathroom was small (I'm 5ft 6in tall and could touch the walls in both directions). The bathroom fittings were ancient and in desperate need of replacement. The enamel was coming off the bath, the porcelain on the sink was worn, the sink was also cracked and all the taps were losing their coatings. The chair in the room had arms that were black and shiny with ingrained dirt. The mattress on the bed was so thin that if you sat on it too quickly you could feel the base it was sitting on. The carpets were stained. We didn't think much to the breakfast either. The sausages tasted cheap and nasty, the mushrooms didn't taste like mushrooms, we didn't touch the scrambled egg as it just looked too awful. There were insufficient tables some mornings and people were asked to wait until a table was available. There were insufficient parking spaces resulting in some people parking on double yellow lines.

The location was good, good selection at breakfast. Not value for money. Hotel was tired, shabby and depressing. The bathroom in room 222 was dirty/stained and very outdated. The hotel had a general air of gloominess and certainly didn't meet the 3* standard. There was a good choice at breakfast but all the cooked food was either luke warm or cold and the sliced potatoes were more like crisps as they were so hard. The fruit juice tasted watered down and the tea was very weak. The whole place needs modernising or the star rating needs reducing.

Room 105 was spacious with fantastic views. The chef is brilliant, offering a varied selection of delicious dishes. It was great to be able to walk into Keswick and access the fells without having to use the car. Some of the decor is a little tired.

Close to the centre of Keswick and very close to the Leisure Centre & Museum. Excellent breakfast buffet. Real ale in the well-stocked bar. Lovely grounds to walk in after dinner with interesting wildlife on show. Brilliant view from our room - a junior suite, roomy and well- furnished. Scary lift made grinding noises and thumped alarmingly when stopping. Examples of poor maintenance of woodwork both interior and exterior showing rot. Dressing-gowns would only fit 14 year-olds.
