Matt,
Prestonpans
At the western end of Loch Tay, overlooking the beautiful River Lochay, the Killin Hotel offers rooms with private bathrooms, a riverside bistro and a popular local pub. Built on the site on a 17th-century inn, the Killin Hotel sits across from the local bowling green, tennis courts, putting green and park. Killin Golf Club is a walk down the road. Enjoy the relaxed conservatory and terrace in summer, while in winter you’ll find a welcome log fire in the cozy lounge-bar. Bring a laptop and you can use the free Wi-Fi. Good location, both immediate and for exploring this part of the Highlands. The Hotel is an old building but is being renovated, the vintage lift is wonderful ! Earlier reviews mentioned worn carpets, these were being replaced on our visit. Staff helpful and friendly. Breakfast was part help yourself and part efficiently deliverd by the friendly and polite staff. Would we stay here again? - certainly. Some may take note of old bathroom fixtures but it was clean and functional.

The meal was good. The room we were allocated was in dire need of upgrading the decor was dirty, the tap was loose in the sink, the plumbing made a noise when the people around us were having a shower, the bed made a noise when you moved, the staff weren't very friendly.

A real old style hotel with split floors and wee nook and crannies. A lot of the old timber panelling and beams, etc still in place. Portions of food enormous. Great value for money, but don't expect a modern hotel.

Handy location Very noisy - facilities in room (12) very cramped - had to open the bathroom door to open the shower door - then shut the bathroom door - then the shower door. Says it all!!

I have stayed many times at the Killin Hotel over the years and have always enjoyed my time there. There were a few years when I didn't use the hotel and had to find a dog-friendly one. However I did notice that dogs were again accepted into the hotel and that really pleased me; we spent many times there with our dogs in the past. There was nothing at all on this visit that I was not pleased with. Thank you.

It's location was idylic. The village had everything you needed. The staff were very friendly and the restaurant offered a outstanding choice of meals which were delicious. The price was excellent. Our room was very tiny.

The staff were very friendly and helpful, meal service was very prompt and the lift is charming. We did not get the room in the annexe we were expecting, (apparently there had been problems with the floor) but the one we had was fine. There was only a shower - no bath, but again this was fine.

The location, The food was average! The interior of the building could be doing with being tidied up, the decor is outdated. Quaint as it is it could and should be better for the prices that are charged. I got the impression that the owners want to run the hotel on a cheap budget to maximise their profit. The room we had was small and cramped with just 2 people in it. It would be sufficient for a single room not a double! The main door was locked at night & someone trying to get in at 12.30 had to bang on the door to gain entry! Not very good if your room is above the door! Staff wandered about at breakfast aimlessly and took over 10 minutes to clear away used plates from tables. Definately not on my favourite hotels list - shame really as the location is excellent.

The location The rooms were tiny and thankfully we were only staying for one night, I would probably not stay here again. My main meal of lamb was not really up to standard although my partners meal of fishcakes was very good.

The staff were very friendly and the meals were reasonably priced and you got a decent portion on your plate. Busy bar area so there was always someone to speak to locally or other guests staying in the hotel.
