Everything was great.

The location and decor were great. My wife loved the tub in room 11

Some of the room area was not the best height for people over 6 feet tall.

Convenience for visits to bookshops and historic sites.

Very poor presentation and preparation of evening meal.Unacceptable and prolonged loud "music" (8pm-mn.) From adjacent Club.Non stop and very very intrusive.

Quirky, eclectic mix of furnishing tastes sympathetically used. Bar food simple but well cooked - huge portions! Small dog welcomed (as opposed to just accepted).

I'd have liked to stay another night!

A very clean warm comfortable room with tea and coffee,good shower facilities. the breakfast was fab and the staff were very accommodating and helpful. it was nice to be able to leave the car in the car park after checking out to go shopping.

perhaps the ongoing building work would affect some people.

The individual design of the rooms. Well equipped, the en-suite was superb. The welcome was warm and appeared genuine, the bar had proper beer and the food was first class pub grub. Breakfast was excellent.

Some work not completed on the landscaping and internal refurbishment, but mainly cosmetic.

The Room contained a brass bedstead and this was very comfortable. Also the beer was excellent

Staff were very nice but very thin on the ground. Rooms were very cold and there was no-one to sort it out

We had booked a superior double room with a seperate sitting area. There were 11 rooms at this hotel, 3 including ours was occupied. Yet we were placed in a room that was unheated.The temp outside was around 1 degree centigrade. It was not until 7pm after constant complaining that the only member of staff available, did something about it. We were moved to another room, but only after initially showing my wife the room we should have been in, but demanding an extra 25 pounds on top of 80 pounds already charged.She declined of course.There was no guest seating area shown to us. The bar area was dirty and in need of refurbishment. Prices for food and drinks are expensive. Overall our experience was not at all good.

The owners and staff were extremely friendly, the food was excellent and we were sorry to have to leave!

Staff couldnt be bothered told us no food available on a sunday , bar was taken over by men of hay on wye . thank god we booked old black lion for food the place was bril staff fab.

Friendly, helpful staff. Good to have own car park. Very central for shopping in Hay.

Room fairly small and hot. Noisy from above. Certainly not the views described on the booking opt--only a small window looking on to amother wing.

Attitude of staff. very helpful and willing to offer an upgrade when our ensuite radiator wasn't working. The bed was very comfortable. central position in town.

Noise from the club across the road although this did stop promptly at 11 pm. Parts of the building needed a good tidy up notably areas at the back of the property and the door into the laundry when open one could see a lot of clutter! I am in the process of moving house so perhaps I have a tidy up head on!
