I live close to the center of Tavistock and was on a trip while I sorted things at home. Sometimes it is good to detach from the absolute familiar. Tavistock is a quiet, dreamy place in the main but has some night life centering around restaurants and take aways . The remaining public houses generally provide a warm welcome with a range of facilities across the board. Shopping: a good range of supermarkets, independent stores and franchises. Leisure pursuits are various in and around the town. It remains a satellite to The City of Plymouth however, with an other worldly quality. Not a suburb. Any recommendations would be biased.

Good Market town with lots of little shops but like most town starting to show signs of a down turn, has some free no street parking which is good but the council are planning to install parking meters which will kill the high street.

Tavistock is a mysterious Dartmoor Market town, with people from all walks of life making the most of its rural and ancient history. There are many places to eat and drink, quirky and interesting. The indoor market was voted the best in its class several years ago. I beleive it's even better now, with modern accessible toilets. There is a really good Weatherspoons large and quirky in places where you can relax for hours with very affordabel ales.......................Or coffee, freee refills. Besides other eateries including the historic Church which serves coffee and cake on certain days. The Church has become a main hub for visitors encouraging a friendly community spirit for all those who value trust, honesty and friendship. Some of the locals tell a very good tale or two!!

Tavistock was beautiful with the Christmas lights.

Tavistock was beautiful with the Christmas lights. We were fortunate to be staying during the Dickensian Evening. There was some lovely stalls, food wagons and street entertainers. The shops were all open and was such a lovely evening.

There is an excellent indoor market in Tavistock selling a wide range of goods well worth a visit. A lot of individual independent shops selling quirky goods are worth visiting. If you wish to explore Dartmoor it is an excellent base to start from.

Perfect location for Tavistock and surrounding areas. Beautiful spacious accomodation with good sized bedrooms and ensuite facilities. A kitchen with room to eat breakfast and chat whilst cooking, a good size dining room and lounge with games and books available. There is a secluded courtyard and a hidden garden with garden chairs etc supplied. A charming quiet spot to while away an hour or two when not perusing the local independent shops and market. A short walk will take you to the viaduct where you can view tavistock from above.

Superb location right next to the fast-flowing River Tavy where apparently you can see both otters and kingfisher. Slight drawback with location is fairly busy road outside which means driving onto and reversing from parking spaces can be tricky. The landlord Paul and his wife Carla were very friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. Breakfast in the conservatory was superb; all products locally sourced, eggs done to perfection on soft white bread and fabulous coffee. Would make a return visit.

Beautifully presented and tastefully decorated. Very comfortable bed. Good quality tv with Netflix although placed too high on the wall for comfortable viewing. Really good breakfast with excellent coffee, in fact best breakfast we have had in a hotel/ B&B for a very long time. Convenient parking area. Really well appointed shower room with superb shower. Friendly hosts.

This characterful property is located within a few minutes walk of all Tavistock has to offer. It was spotlessly clean and comfortable with fantastic facilities for our group of three female friends enjoying a short break. Excellent communication with the host before, during and at the end of our stay. Highly recommended for a stay in delightful Tavistock.

I had the most wonderful stay and Eddy was an amazing host. The place exceeded all my expectations and the facilities as well as being a central location in the town was comfortable and very quiet and relaxing. If you are visiting Tavistock and the surrounding area (including Plymouth) then this is the place to stay.

The property is in a very remote location but that’s what makes it so nice. The Annex is well set out and has lovely decor.Viv and Howard are wonderful hosts and very knowledgeable of the area if you need any help. It’s a 10 minute drive in to Tavistock if you want to go into town. I would definitely stay there again.

The cottage is close to Tavistock and we walked into town on several occasions, which was very convenient. The lounge is comfortable although the TV is very small for the size of the room. The kitchen is well equipped although we did not do a lot of cooking as we have family in the area. The bed was comfortable.
