Score from 2163 reviews Very good
Size of bed and room. Good bathroom facilities. Excellent breakfast choice and quality.
Bathroom basin did not drain easily. Radio didn't work
The staff and the atmosphere of the hotel was excellent
The fact that the lights had blown in the room when we arrived, which took twenty mins to resolve, and then the same thing happened again the day we left. Must be an electrical problem somewhere? The car park is a bit difficult to get around.
When requested early check in and late check out both we're granted, train station right opposite hotel, room was spotless and beautiful hotel with comfy beds
Excellent. A very peaceful weekend relaxing with a bit of retail therapy hotel was perfect staff were very professional. Spent Saturday afternoon sitting in front of open coal fire in the Albert room it couldn't get better not our first visit and certainly not our last. Alan + Gwen Aberystwyth
Room was nice as well as open fire in lounge area
Lack of swimming pool
Very close to city centre Comfortable hotel, very spacious . Staff very helpful, good value for money.
No afternoon teas of a Sunday, We would have enjoyed one before our journey home.
We stayed four nights in a Delux King Room with oversized bed, which was extremely comfortable. The room was spacious and beautifully decorated. Staff at the hotel were all helpful and very pleasant. My husband assured me that the room was a very comfortable temperature, but one night I had a chill, and asked reception for an extra blanket. A blanket was delivered to our room along with a small heater in case I needed it...very thoughtful.
I agree with other reviewers that given the costs of the room we felt charging for parking was offputting. I would understand the charges for anyone attending a one day conference or a function, but not when you are a paying overnight guest of the hotel.
No pay per view films or Sky TV.
Clean and very good location
£15 parking charge. Overall value for money was not there.
room/bed very comfortable/clean Breakfast was very good and plentifull
Receptionist on arrival didn't speak very good English struggled to communicate. Dining room where breakfast was served was very dark + too warm
We stayed at the Kings for my 50th birthday, the room we had was lovely, clean and very comfortable. The breakfast was fantastic with many choices available and plenty of it. We had a meal in the restaurant which was alittle pricey but the quality and service was excellent. We would definitely book there again.
The only thing I could say I was a little disappointed with the price of the drinks in the bar, they were expensive. A double JD & coke was £10, it was only £1.25 in the pub over the road. If the bar prices had been cheaper we would have spent more time in there as the bar area was nice.
Good room and quiet ness
No fridge in room , silly light switches , bedside lamp faulty
Decor in the communal areas very nice, especially the Kings.
Rooms very ordinary not as tasteful or luxurious as they think. Stained furniture in bedrooms. Garden area a bonus but would benefit from a good gardener, needs more varied planting. When asked by reception " had we enjoyed our stay" to which I replied in the negative, there was no response, clearly not interested in the answer.
We stayed in a suite on the top floor - it was beautiful. Room was available when we checked in and reception staff very pleasant and efficient. Hotel was clean in all areas and staff very attentive. Breakfast - amazing - fill your boots for the day! We will be back.......
Nothing not to like at this hotel....!
staff overall ambience complimentary upgrade to suite which was well appointed no need to get passkey for free wi-fi close to canal with restaurants
service in main restaurant slow; food expensive and unexceptional at best loud humming noise like a generator at night drinks even in 'pub' very expensive bill all wrong, had to be re-done not once but twice a bit of a trek to city centre
Rooms are ok, nothing like the website would suggest however, soiled armchairs, torn pillow cases, ragged pillows and air con not working. Bathroom lovely, staff friendly.
The shower in the room was lush so was the bath tub .food was excellent staff polite and curtious allways .we will be definatley staying agen as it's a beautiful hotel and near everything thanks for a great stay x
Think the £15 car park charge was a bit unfair for hotel users.:(
Staff Room Food Service Italian Garden Location
Staff very friendly and efficient with good food options.
Nothing except the rainy weekend.
Great Hotel stayed there many times.
Double their prices when Chester Races are on, very naughty!
Couldn't fault the bar staff in the kings bar in the new part . Ryan was exceptional he's a credit to the place
15 pound a night for parking is pretty shocking when the train station is only 4 pound
Location and friendliness of staff
Parking is extremely expensive (£15 on Sunday) considering the hotel is not the cheapest
Excellent staff nice room
