Good room and quiet ness
No fridge in room , silly light switches , bedside lamp faulty
Decor in the communal areas very nice, especially the Kings.
Rooms very ordinary not as tasteful or luxurious as they think. Stained furniture in bedrooms. Garden area a bonus but would benefit from a good gardener, needs more varied planting. When asked by reception " had we enjoyed our stay" to which I replied in the negative, there was no response, clearly not interested in the answer.
We stayed in a suite on the top floor - it was beautiful. Room was available when we checked in and reception staff very pleasant and efficient. Hotel was clean in all areas and staff very attentive. Breakfast - amazing - fill your boots for the day! We will be back.......
Nothing not to like at this hotel....!
staff overall ambience complimentary upgrade to suite which was well appointed no need to get passkey for free wi-fi close to canal with restaurants
service in main restaurant slow; food expensive and unexceptional at best loud humming noise like a generator at night drinks even in 'pub' very expensive bill all wrong, had to be re-done not once but twice a bit of a trek to city centre
Rooms are ok, nothing like the website would suggest however, soiled armchairs, torn pillow cases, ragged pillows and air con not working. Bathroom lovely, staff friendly.
The shower in the room was lush so was the bath tub .food was excellent staff polite and curtious allways .we will be definatley staying agen as it's a beautiful hotel and near everything thanks for a great stay x
Think the £15 car park charge was a bit unfair for hotel users.:(
Staff Room Food Service Italian Garden Location
Staff very friendly and efficient with good food options.
Nothing except the rainy weekend.
Great Hotel stayed there many times.
Double their prices when Chester Races are on, very naughty!
Couldn't fault the bar staff in the kings bar in the new part . Ryan was exceptional he's a credit to the place
15 pound a night for parking is pretty shocking when the train station is only 4 pound
Location and friendliness of staff
Parking is extremely expensive (£15 on Sunday) considering the hotel is not the cheapest
Excellent staff nice room
Very good staff, excellent breakfast, lovely hotel.
No still water in rooms, when I enquired I was told they had run out - yet I was able to buy a bottle in the bar? £10 per night parking considering amount for room.
The new part of the hotel!!! Where we stayed
Scary old pictures on the wall!!
near to town
some staff not helpful. tried to charge us for bar bill we didn't have .no apology.
Staff were very nice
Loved the breakfast.
1. Air conditioning - unable to control from the room. We had to contact reception to adjust the temperature. We were even offered a 'fan' because it was too warm. Completely unacceptable. 2. Compared to other hotels of the same price bracket I don't think it was value for money. 3. Key cards failed to work on 2 separate occasions 4. Our 'check in' check out' wasn't brilliant. On check out I wasn't asked whether we were satisfied with our stay
The rooms are fantastic, beds very comfy and breakfast phenomenal yet again. Love this place.
The old windows let the overall look of the room down. Unfortunately the aircon in our room was periodically noisy waking us up at one point, the motor made a noise like a hamster on a wheel, forgot to report this on leaving. The lady who check us out was quite abrupt and dismissive. Shame the parking isn't included, or certainly offered at a concessionary rate.
The hotel building was stunning. The bed very comfy ( the bath robes though were very worn and rough .. With holes in !!! ) and the location of the hotel for walking to the centre was excellent.
We stayed here as part of our 30th wedding Anniv celebrations. Firstly parking at £15 was far too much when across the road was much cheaper and at £170 for one night b&b it should be less, if not free. Also having to pay for a coffee in bar area I think is not poor !!!. Lastly as there was a wedding on we most definitely felt that we almost "got in the way". It's the first time, and prob the last, that I will spend so much on one night as apart from the beautiful building, I really felt we didn't get anything else.
The decor & ambience of the hotel and the staff were extremely helpful & obliging. The meal we had in the Kings Grill was absolutely first class and again the staff were wonderful. Especially the cocktail barman, Ryan, who was very attentive and had a laugh and a joke with us. Definitely, one of the hotel's best staff members!
Car parking charges !
The hotel is beautiful and the room was gorgeous. On the Friday night me and my girl went to the cocktail lounge and was spoilt by the barman Ryan, he looked after us really well and deserves a raise
Just a few things : the room promised bathrobes and slippers but we got no slippers, and It said online that there was a steam free mirror in the bathroom but it wasn't. The prices in the waiting room where terrible. I ordered the same round three times and was charged different prices everytime. Wasn't happy.
Great room and made to feel comfortable checking in, helpful staff
Car park charges are very high considering the amount you pay for a room
