Pleasant facilities, good quality fittings, very well placed in the town Car park difficult to access, access corridors too narrow for larger cars, on Friday night access was impossible despite a few places being vacant - had to park in nearby (free overnight) town carpark. Bar meals only, restaurant apparently not in use.

The friendly staff, warmth of the hotel. The ability to manage own heating level in the room. The choice for breakfast was excellent. No shelf space in the en-suite to place toiletries etc. These had to be placed on the floor

Friendly, helpful staff. Lovely room - very spacious and the most comfortable bed I've ever had in a hotel. Good size car park. Very central. Breakfast was a little disappointing - not cooked to the standard I expected from this otherwise excellent hotel and coffee only barely warm.

We really appreciate the position of the hotel in the middle of Dorchester. We stayed in Room 102 which overlooks the back and the noisy heating or refrigeration unit. Larger curtains are needed and a blind or net curtains should be fitted to improve the view.

Friendly staff. Good room. Odd lighting in room. No teaspoons and only 2 teabags ? Breakfast ok, but not as good as one expects for the price.

Friendly greeting and good service on arrival. Good breakfast for rreasonable price. comfortable bed. The bedroom which I had overlooked the High Street I stayed on Christmas night so there was little traffic but that which happened was quite noisy. If I stay again I will ask for a room facing the back. Also, a temporary glitch, the electronic key given for access in antisocial hours, did not work.

We have stayed on numerous occasions and have never been disappointed. A lovely 'olde' county town hotel with good, comfortable accommodation, pleaseant staff and an ideal location - all at a very reasonable price. Could't open windows (but, being winter, think it was due to wood swelling in frame)... Nothing major!

Friendliness and helpfulness of staff Difficult to get shower water to stay at same temperature. According to the desk staff in the morning there is something written about how to contol water temperature in the leaflets on the desk on the room. We had not opened that and think there should be something in the bathroom to help.

A well furnished historic hotel with modern facilities. The evening menu was good with well presented food although a little on the pricey side. The standard double room was a reasonable size, the bathroom was rather small but adequate and spotless. Check in & Check out was quick and efficient. Good car park on site which is a bonus and unusual for a historic building in the center of an ancient town. I would certainly stay again and thoroughly enjoyed the experience.

On our way through to Dartmoor, so was most impressed with everything. All the staff were extremely helpful. The room was fantastic (113) and the breakfast was the most selection we have ever been offered. The price was also very reasonable for what you were given. Well done Best Western shall recommend your hotel and also the one in Eastbourne and Moretonhampstead.

We had room 111 and it was great, almost like a small apartment seperate lobby area for the bags, bathroom then bedroom, great room. Food in the restaurant did not live up to the write up in a local tourist review and as we were over looking the carpark very noisy we staff arriving and leaving in the early hours.

We were really impressed that the hotel manager (Steve) took the time to sit down and talk to us when we were in the bar on our first evening, and after that asked us how we were every time we saw him. He also provided some really good advice on local restaurants. The room (106) was spacious, comfortable and quiet. We would certainly consider going back as it is a good base for seeing Dorchester and the surrounding Dorset countryside and coast.

The staff were very welcoming, especially the hotel manager who greeted us upon our arrival and reassured us that they were aware of our special dietary needs and that we would be looked after. The hotel was in a great location, central to the town so it was a good choice for visiting near by sights and attractions. Breakfast was excellent one of the best we ever had in a hotel, the staff were extremely helpful, nothing was too much trouble and the food was plentiful with lots of variety and choice. we would definitely stay again. The bathroom extractor fan took a long while to go off once the light was switched off, which made it difficult to sleep at night

We are extremely impressed by the pub / restaurant. The dinner we had was amazing and the food quality is comparable to the michelin star restaurants. A truly hidden gem in Dorset.

“Not being accustomed to using B &B very much we were more than pleasantly surprised to be met by Karen who could not have been nicer or more welcoming. The Tack Room was perfect for our needs, spotlessly clean and very comfortable with lots of extra little luxuries. Breakfast was amazing in the beautiful main house. 5 stars and more for a lovely family and home in a stunning situation.” Kathryn, Long Lane. Heath Charnock, Chorley |
