modern room but in character setting, cleanliness, good parking, friendly staff. Tea/ coffee & bottled water provided in room. The quick & friendly resolution of a problem with breakfast - excellent customer service.
Lighting in room a bit dim - seems to be a common issue these days!
Great room with character and historic atmosphere; food and drink very good; friendly helpful staff. Comfortable bed, everything very clean and well-appointed.
Room a little too warm (on a hot night) with no easy way of cooling it down.
We have stayed at this lovely inn before and just love the ambience I would especially recommend eating of the bar menu both well prepared and reasonable
The suite was fantastic - exposed beams, high celings, yet modern and tasteful furnishings Food was of very good quality Staff friendly and helpful 30 mins from Heathrow, yet buried in classic English countryside
Don't Book a suite on Weekends. If there is a Wedding You will find nö sleep!
The bath located in the bedroom
The lighting in the room both upstairs and downstairs was a little too dark
Location, staff, service all were faultless
The room described as a suite was just a big room which incorporated the bathroom. Not our cup of tea. Next time we will book a straightforward deluxe room.
The property's old English character
Nothing. Liked everything
Fabulous room, extremely comfortable bed. Great location.
Taxi company used by hotel poor, waited considerable time on both journeys. Breakfast appalling, no hot items replenished to accommodate waiting guests! Fire extinguisher propped open fire door as we returned late at night. Lunch time food stops at 3 pm? I did mention all complaints as I checked out, no genuine apology or concern given.
Good service and breakfast
Loved the rustic charm if the place. Town is lovely and great for walking. Tavern was great!!!
Had to have windows open to get ventilation but street noise was bothersome. The street noise is unavoidable because of the proximity of the hotel on the street. I would stay there again, but would try the rooms in the back of the property and not in the front of the hotel, over the tavern(that closed at 11:30)
Breakfast was poorly served. Cold plates. Dinner poor. Two desserts out of four were off the menu and the table we asked for was given to someone else. Bathroom , nowhere to hang or put towel robe; hooks or a stool would have been good, there was room for that. Bed on a slope, could have been fixed straight with wood insert;I know it is an old building, but still!!No lighting or bedside table on one side of double bed.
Service for food is appalling Serve yourself breakfast needs a complete rethink to avoid a constant traffic of guests between table and buffet and hot plate etc. Coffee of poor quality. Did not eat dinner as could not anticipate good service and there is a choice of eating places in the town . Disappointing .Over a six night stay had only one set of toiletries and 3 packets of biscuits two of which were inferior custard creams .Mycomplaints were dealt with by the director. Over A
Very friendly & accommodating staff. Helped us out with an early breakfast & room for our bikes. Great location in the town & safe off road parking.
We were upgraded, but if I'm honest I thought the bathroom was quite shabby. Dodgy shower door & toilet crammed in next to a massive sink. Although we were upgraded the room was right above the outdoor seating area which was noisy with guests until around 11:30pm. Think this should be stated if anyone books this room. We were up early for a very big bike ride & needed a quiet early night. Bed was noticeably wonky on one side...this could be the old building, but this could easily be fixed by stacking up that side of the bed. Only long mirror was I wardrobe & door didn't stay open. If I was to stay again I would call ahead & pick out room after discussing it's location with member of staff. Think £120 was quite a lot for a 1nifgt stay.
Location ideal and beautiful building well maintained
It has huge potential but management organisation and staff was almost Fawlty Towers. Breakfast late and totally disorganised and menu withdrawn at last minute without explanation. Evening meal was ok but very pricey and certainly did not live up to its billing
Bed very comfortable,lovely location
my special requests i had asked for had not been supplied. The room did not justify the high rate, lots of maintenance issues, exposed carpet gripper between bathroom and bedroom as my wife discovered when she walked on it ,bathroom floor tiles had lots of missing grout, wardrobe doors were falling off ,net curtains very dirty ,marks on walls to name just a few . not impressed even with a reduced rate on check out i have had better service from hotels half this price, breakfast very unstructured with staff rearranging tables while we were eating.
Hotel was great
We thought breakfast on the monday was disappointing compared to Sunday morning. We think it should be the same standard.
asked for scrambled eggs with smoked salmon, from the breakfast menu and was told sorry no smoked salmon available
location of the hotel in the lovely historical village of Amersham and possibilities of good walks in the surrounding fields above the village with beautiful views. Delicious fish and chips and great atmosphere in the bistro bar of the hotel. Good roomy private car parking .
Very uncomfortable bed, disappointing to have a soft foam mattress in an "executive "room, had a really bad night . Breakfast service and choice minimal.
Location was perfect on the High Street. Best breakfast I have had in a long time!
Suite was excellent.
Breakfast was a little bit limited on selection.
Staff were excellent - friendly and accommodating, went out of their way to compensate for the poor position of my room and the inconsiderate and juvenile behaviour of some of the other guests.
The general position of my room in the old stable/barn is not a good place to have a deluxe room at a premium cost - the surfaces all slope and allow glasses to slide, the stairs creak, the room is dark and needs colour and the bed pillows are abysmally uncomfortable. I would have liked a working heated towel rail as the bathroom is very cold and gloomy and cold towels add to the discomfort. The room position is too noisy and the thin, un sound proofed walls allowed the next rooms party of 7 people, at 1am, to blast into my room and sleep. These rooms are too open to the courtyard and the pub and the comings and goings of cars and crunching gravel and the yahooing of the other guests and pub patrons. The coffee in the vacuum pot at breakfast was dreadful.
Food was good but expensive.
Room was very small for the cost. Not an executive room at all. Poor value for a premium price.
