With a peaceful location, surrounded by century-old trees, this beautiful and historical 4-star country house hotel holds a Silver Award and 2 AA Rosettes.
Score from 152 reviews Superb
access, comfortable bed
room very cramped, whole of wet room floor deep in water and therefore dangerous and unpleasant to use
As I said, did not know the hotel existed but will certainly be using you in the future for our many visits to Pontefract and District during the year. We have been coming to Pontefract now for 26yrs. wish we had known of your existance before. Cannot find fault with anything 5*.
No Faults with anything.
Breakfast was excellent wifi signal is very good and fast the building is beautiful as well as the surrounding areas
Loud music until 1:30 in the morning was a massive annoyance where the breakfast was held needed to be directed a lot better and general maintenance needs to be done inside few leaks from ceiling in hallways little bit of damp in room skirting boards coming of in places for £60 was ok but won't be staying again
I stayed in the new bungalow section of the hotel. Very good value for money. Good bar with decent prices for a hotel. Staff were very friendly. Tuesday steak night was very good.
They offer a bar menu which finishes at 5pm so the only menu for night is the full. Although the chef was happy for me to have something off the bar menu. I would prefer the bar menu to be available without request.
Excellent value for money and beautiful surrounding; lovely hotel!
Man came up and just said it won't work, no apologies, he couldn't have cared less, we then had to ask where we would be having breakfast and that was the worst thing, ran out of bread, eggs, had tok keep asking, dreadful, won't be returning
Arrived at 11.30pm after a 4 hour drive, staff just pointed the direction of the rooms to us which were on different sides of the hotel as we had 2 double rooms, I told them we couldn't get the rad to work in our daughters room, the
Food excellent Cleanliness very good Lovely staff
Layout of the hotel. Obviously a function venue and you had to walk through bars and function rooms to get to reception and breakfast
hotel in lovely grounds and stunning views, went for a special weekend, was put out of the hotel in a extension through a fire door over looking the building site to a extention, through a fire door, came home from our evening out, from 1.30am, the shouting and swearing started, we were at the first room (14) so everyone passes our room banging shouting, and all night a light was on on the site right outside our window shining in all night, we had very little sleep, after breakfast witch was very good and the staff were very helpful, we checked out, when asked if everything was ok, i explained eveything to them saying i wasnt happy, i was told "sorry about that" i said i felt sorry wasnt enough it spoilt our weekend, and all the receptionist said "all i can do is apologies", well if thats how you treat customers think its disgusting, our freinds who live in sharlston asked if we had a good stay and was shocked and upset for us, the duty manager sat at reception the whole time i spoke to the girl and never once intervened with any comments. i would like a reply please. mari lampkin. kings croft hotel, nr wakefeild rs, casteford. el
Friendly staff, nice and clean ,roomy, privacy
We have stayed here several times before and would stay here again, but this time the room was cold and we were not informed how to adjust/or turn on the heating .breakfast was not as good as normal
The hotel was able to cater for a large group of family for a birthday celebration meal. Food was OK for the price , but was more like bar food than restaurant food.
Rooms were pretty small. Breakfast - the orange juice tasted like squash - the buffet was not kept very well stocked and was a bit haphazard.
helpfulness of the staff, our room was modern clean and comfy, nice restaurant area, well prepared and food served was excellent as were the staff serving the restaurant. will go again.
only niggle was in the wet room bathroom the basin tap was a bit loose.
The gardens were nice and the heritage style building .
Pathetic bar area , tv area poor , bar area very tired and uninviting it made you feel uncomfortable . Sitiing eating food at such a low table left me feeling ill. Bedroom was stupidly small , showere flooded the toilet area , far far far to pokey , I would never recommend this hotel to my colleagues who need to visit this area often.
location and facilities
no sandwiches available only cooked food which was good.
We liked almost everything about the Kings Croft, especially the food which was superb.
We had room 7, there was a droning noise day & night coming from something outside the room, a generator, or extractor. couldn't sleep at all. The Kings Croft is lovely, as long as your not in room 7
Spacious and comfortable accommodation in nice surroundings. Good breakfasts.
The hotel is frequently very crowded and noisy due to hosting large events. Very surprisingly no special arrangements are made for the comfort of paying guests in terms of having a private residents only bar and lounge to relax in!
Situation near crematorium, on main road. (We were there for family funeral). Reception/bar area seemed OK.
Attitude of staff. I had a confirmed booking yet they did not recognise their obligation to provide a room. They offered inadequate annex with 2 twin beds plus put-you-up for 3 adults. They diverted us to Kyte Hotel, who suggested that the Kings Croft staff regularly fail to update their availability data, hence poor service.
upgraded room excellent clean and very comfortable.Reasonably quiet location even though it is situated(but set back) from the main road.
Breakfast, would have liked fresh fruit or tinned grapefruit to be provided.but found the meal adequate.
Just having a great nights rest after the drive from Scotland was made very welcome
Food - good quality and price. Comfortable room but decor looked a little 'tired'! Location - very pleasant.
no draft guinness only canned.not good for a good hotel or a guinness drinker ?.
Normally, I would rate this hotel as well above average but I asked for a quiet room for business and relaxation. Due to an extremely busy function in the hotel, which I was not warned about and didn't expect on a Wednesday it was impossible to get a drink or table. Astonishingly they didn't make any provision for residents over one off visitors! The heating in the room didn't work and it was so loud upstairs from the disco music from 5pm until 10.30 that the bedroom was literally vibrating and shaking. Complained on the phone and via their website addressed to the senior management and owners but received no reply!! I have never complained about a hotel before and hope that this is not typical here as the staff were nice and professional. Disappointed as the hotel could be great if they make greater provision for looking after paying residents, rather than one off visitors.
Clean bathroom and bedroom. Excellent breakfast and friendly pleasant service.
There had been a mix-up with our booking and there were no ground floor rooms available and they didn't have a lift. Their receptionist very quickly booked us into a good hotel nearby at their expense. Really helpful and professional.
Very good value, restaurant food good, easy parking
This hotel hosts large events, possible noise.
