Pleasant atmosphere and decor. Lovely breakfast in the morning. Nicely kept gardens. Both weddings were very close to each other but each suite had their own bar which is a nice touch. Location wise is a positive, within close proximity to Wakefield, Castleford and Pontefract. Close to the M62 and M1 if you drive and good bus links if you don't.
Light in the room didn't work. Shower pressure was poor. Neither me or my husband slept well, possibly due to the uncomfortable bed. Staff advised us to walk through someone's wedding to get to our room! Wifi did not work unless in the bar!
Location was good. Room was clean. Bathroom excellent, with power shower. Reasonable price.
Fan outside room was noisy. Staff pleasant but service was poorly organised, especially in the restaurant in the evening.
setting, food, balcony on room
no draught ale, Guinness from a tin
Room small and dining room a little bit rushed as a function was going on.
Lovely location, beautiful room and friendly staff. The hotel was a little gem.
Slightly disappointed with the evening meal. Uninspiring food and very slow service. The breakfast was fine though.
A member of staff was using a Hoover at 9pm at night next to/under my room. A bit irritating when I had been travelling since 5am that day and was very tired.
The hotel was very reasonable and we had a very pleasant stay as a family. The grounds outside were lovely.
My son and daughter stayed in the family rooms, and as it was a hot night and the window wouldn't open, my daughter had a really poor night's sleep. Breakfast was generous but a bit cold.
Room smelt dirty, bathroom smelt damp. Hotel's primary focus is events, and felt more holiday camp. Reception is scruffy and more like a back office.
Good facilities and parking. Lovely grounds and view.
No mirror near plug point unable to dry hair properly
The location was lovely the staff were fantastic so welcoming and couldn't do enough for you especially the gentlemen that gave us dinner on Friday night they were very good. considering there were two weddings going on.
The noise wasn't good at all till about 3am from the wedding and from guests that were staying in the hotel were very noisy and no consideration for other people staying in the hotel banging doors shouting such a shame such a lovely place would check first to see if there are weddings going on after a 7 hour journey and then getting up in the morning at 6am wasn't the best start to the day...
Space and decor very tasteful , restaurant very reasonably priced and nice quality food ,
Shower wasn't working on arrival but fixed the same day
Brilliant breakfast included in the price!
Diets catered for (Coeliac), Staff knowledgeable and if not sure willing to find out.
Noise at night. I,m getting old.
The handy location to York and shopping outlets. An unusual but wonderful outside wedding venue with lovely views and gardens. Food was good a day the were very helpful and friendly
Having to walk outside to get to the bar/restaurant because there was two weddings at the hotel
Fantastic views, good value for money, staff very pleasant and accommodating, family room was great clean and comfy beds. Many thanks will come again
Food quality and portions were large
Layout of rooms, dripping toilet, cheap mattress, rubbish "Toastmaster" (MC only), rubbish DJ
Room and balcony. Most staff
Broken glass in garden, cleanliness not too good dust around legs of tables, chewing gum left in vase in bar area. Fire alarm went off in our room both days. Noise from two weddings kept us awake until the very early hours. Asked twice for desert menu, left without desert in the end. Glass I had from bar was dirty and chipped. Very disappointed. Did not get what I paid for.
breakfast was very poor, and poorly staffed, room was tiny pleased it was an overnight stay for friends wedding else where
Location & setting very nice view. I was well pleased with room and breakfast. There is plenty of parking spaces. The staff are nice and helpful.
Canned guinness is filled to a point glass and then gassed by us waves gaget seems well over uk average for £3.80. For future UK visits I will ask prior whether direct from keg as i would prefer. Anyway it tasted ok.
The cleanliness of the room, the staff was excellent and friendly and the beds were very comfy
The food could be a lot better, duct tape should not be holding the wardrobe together and even though there was 5 plug sockets in the room only one worked. We stayed in room 4.
The room was lovely
Not much else Im afraid!
Music blasting until 1am that literally shook the building. Staff weren't aware of the discounted rates of our booking. Water all over the bedroom floor. There was a bath in the bedroom!! The open plan shower/wc etc. Preposterous!!
Too small and claustrophobic and large fan outside going all night.we have stayed in a double room before and it was nothing like that, also basin in bathroom wouldn't empty very disappointed
