Situated on the A170 between Helmsley and Pickering, the George and Dragon Inn is in the heart of the North Yorkshire Moors National Park.
Score from 167 reviews Very good
Located in the North York Moors National Park, this traditional inn offers spacious accommodations with picturesque country views. It offers a range of real ales, and hearty, homemade food.
Score from 241 reviews Wonderful
The Royal Oak Hotel is located in Helmsley town centre. There is free WiFi access available and there is free parking nearby.
Score from 10 reviews Very good
The Cresswell Arms is 3 miles from the North Yorkshire market town of Malton. It has a traditional bar, a restaurant serving English cuisine, free Wi-Fi and free parking.
Score from 162 reviews Excellent
The welcome, the service, the friendliness, the food.
The wifi coverage, reliability and bandwidth is a little lacking.
Arrived early but room was ready.Had 3course evening meal.Superb.was a disturbance outside at 2am but obviously not the hotels fault.
Mentioned disturbance above.
A very welcoming place, great ale, great food and great staff. We only picked this place as they allowed us to bring our dog (only in the cottage) he was also allowed in the bar.
Friendly waitress, good food.
Traditional pub hand pulled ales great selection of food good quality food good sized portions nicely presented
From the moment we arrived this hotel had a lovely feel to it. The staff were really friendly & helpful. We stay in the little cottage at the back of the hotel. It was very clean, comfortable & cosy. We will be back..☺️
The room was large and clean. The full English breakfast was excellent.
We found the bed very soft in the middle so we naturally moved together. The decor in the room was poor with painting incomplete.
Time it took to get the bill
We enjoyed our Christmas Eve Dinner and Christmas Day Dinner and our en-suite was very big.
We would have liked to have been in a room of people,on a big table and not just sitting on our own for our Christmas Dinner. We had not been away at Christmas before so it was a new experience.
The owners, staff and food all excellent along with a very comfortable bed, nothing too much trouble for owners including very late arrival. A very relaxing stay and fully intend to return
It must be said that the free wifi was very poor though not the fault of the hotel. the service in North Yorkshire is extremely dodgy at best therefore allowances must be made.
We found the King's Head to be a charming inn in a charming little town :) We were treated with incredible attentiveness and kindness from the moment we arrived till the moment we left. Gailey in particular was just an amazing hostess ! Nothing was too much effort for her. Both our dinner and breakfast were delicious. All we were hoping for was a comfortable night's stay en route from London to Scotland. What we discovered was a little gem of an inn we would all love to return to in the future :)

very good throughout, staff friendly and welcoming, good food, excellent value for money, will return
Wi-Fi connection dodgy
Great welcome lovely food. Great consideration for a hyper 4 year old. Cottage unit was particularly good.
Friendly Staff Nice Bar Nice Food
Had to eat in cold conservatory because of a tribute act. Again had to eat in same cold conservatory next morning because cleaners were in. Rooms were clean but ours was dark and dowdy, the shower was new but above a bath only someone under 5'2 could get under it. Excellent bar area but hotel part in need of a refurbishment
Comfortable beds, good warm rooms, nice building, great bar, good real ales, nice single malt whisky collection, great breakfast, superb steaks, good parking
Nothing really. Just had a bit of a hiccup on one occasion with the kitchens full understanding of what foods should be avoided when you are gluten free but other than that, a great value for money in a lovely historic building in a very attractive part of the country.
The staff and food were brilliant the onion rings the best I have tasted. Good selection of well kept beers. Room was lrge warm and comfortable the location was brilliant plenty of places on the doorstep. Will definately stop again.
I gave excellent for staff mainly for the lady who was in the restaurant on the evening and served us breakfast in the morning she couldn't do enough for us,and she was very friendly.
The fact I had come away with 4 teenage girls and all we wanted to do was chill in the cottage and watch dvd's after our evening meal, but unfortunately the dvd player was not working.
Street lamp was on all night directly in my window.
We really enjoyed the relaxing atmosphere and the warm welcome from both the staff and the locals. Excellent food and service to match. Would definitely stay here again!
Usually a problem when we stay away but the electric shower...never as good as the power shower at home!
Everything friendliness of staff. meals were excellent & we will stay again
Staff couldn't do enough for you, pub lovely atmosphere and great food.
Room basic and clean but a little tired.
EXCELLENT VALUE FOR MONEY FOOD AND COMFORT. Very good real ales and bar.
Nice Olde worlde pub feel Good food Staff pleasant and helpful
We used the Kings Head as an overnight stay whilst visiting our family who we're staying nearby in a holiday cottage. The food was good and wholesome and the staff and in particular Karina were friendly and most helpfull.
Very good atmosphere, comfortable beds, excellent breakfast, friendly staff, well-appointed rooms. Location in centre of village makes for easy access to shops and other eating places if required. Reasonable size car park at rear.
