Located in the historic market town of Llandovery, in the heart of the Breacon Beacons, the Kings Head Inn has a bar, a restaurant, comfortable rooms and free Wi-Fi. All rooms have a private bathroom and a plasma TV. A full Welsh breakfast is served every morning. The Kings Head’s restaurant has a relaxed atmosphere and a menu that incorporates locally sourced produce. The 1700s building was once The Bank of the Black Ox, one of the first banks in Wales. Fantastic warm welcome from Claire ( She was the former manageress, returned as holiday relief ) and was outstanding throughout our visit. Nothing was too much trouble.Bar and restaurant were very comfortable. Customers were very friendly. Breakfast was freshly cooked and made with 'proper' sausages and bacon etc. Room was comfortable, clean and everything worked. En suite was very good with nice whirlpool bath. Some nice extra touches like bottled water in room fridge and hot chocolate along with the usual tea and coffee made for a very relax stay and at a bargain price. Highly recommended. Cups in the room were too small for hot chocolate. As we booked out I jokingly mentioned it and was assured that if we had asked we would have been given mugs. I assured Claire that if this was my only complaint she had done well.

Atmospheric and friendly, helpful staff. Good food and reasonably priced. Character rooms and comfortable. The downside of an historic inn are creaky floorboards and lack of good sound proofing between rooms.

The hotel was clean, our room was a good size with everything we needed, the bathroom was large and well appointed. The staff were pleasant and friendly. We chose this hotel because of its location, within 5 minutes walk of the friends we were visiting.Overall we had an enjoyable stay, and will use the hotel again. Breakfast was a bit hit and miss! A long wait for food on first day, and kitchen problems on second day meant a long wait for just toast. However, staff were apologetic, and we did recieve a small reduction on our bill. This was our second stay at this hotel, and we had the same delay for breakfast last time. Despite this, we would stay again because the hotels many good points outweigh this minor glitch! Our first stay was during summer months, when hotel was busy, so a delay with breakfast is understandable. But our second stay was in December when hotel was quiet, so delay not so easy to understand.

As a venue the Kings Head is not flashy, its just an Inn in a town; however what really made it stand out for me was the friendly accommodating nature of the staff and the punters. As a solo business traveller I recieved a genuine warm welcome and was able to enjoy a drink and a chat at the bar very comfortably. The rooms are clean and comfortable, the food was very reasonably priced, well presented and tasted good, and they have some local beers on hand pump. I'll be sure to call at the Kings Head again, alone, with family, or friends. Will

Very comfortable bed. Good and spacious en-suite facilities. Very good breakfast with tasty sausages and superior quality bacon. Good bandwidth Wi-Fi. Excellent dinner for my organisation, both in quality and quantity. The starters alone were practically a meal; clearly a lot of thought and care had gone into the meal which was also very good value! Good beer and friendly regulars. Helpful and friendly staff. Nothing really - even the broken television was fixed.

Ideal location for our sightseeing programme. Pleasant town - warm welcome from management and staff; large clean room (lighting circuit failed on the morning we were leaving but presumably that was a one-off). Pleasant ambience in the bar/restaurant.

I have visited the Kings head many times as I used to live in the area. This is the 2nd time I have stayed here. I found the rooms to be very comfortable especially the beds which contributed to a good nights sleep, and the food excellent. The hotel is looking a bit tired and could do with a little tlc. On arriving here I notice flower pots with dead plants and weeds in them which doesn't give a good first impression. The bathrooms are a liitle grimey and could do with regrouting and paint needs touching up. Although saying this they are kept clean. The service was not good at mealtimes and some staff were a little off hand, not what I would call welcoming.

Very friendly and helpful staff. Really good food. Big room. Nice pub and restaurant. Free parking at the back. The Inn has an old and neglected feel to it. The room we stayed in was not clean. Dust everywhere. The bathroom has not been well cleaned for a very long time. In the restaurant/pub the tables were "sticky". Maybe this is a due to the fact that only one person has to clean the rooms and the pub? That is a shame because it really is a nice place to stay.

Cental location in small town. We found the Kings Head Inn comfortable and the food was good. To find fault at all would be nit picking.

Comfortable bed, good explanation by staff at booking in on room access, meal times etc. Good atmosphere in bar area. Restaurant prices - being on a limited budget meant we had to go elsewhere (Blue Bell Inn)

Homely atmosphere and old world charm. When we arrived at the Hotel we were told that there was no booking for us, that the Hotel was full and were unaware of our booking. Fortunately I produced the paperwork indicating that I had booked in mid Feb,quoting the booking Ref number of "Booking.Com".At which point the receptionist took another 10 minutes to confirm that a double booking had been made for our room, but they would make alterations to accommodate us which they did.We have never had this experience before which was a bit offputing as the overnight stay was for a family wedding the following day and there was nowhere else to stay in the town.
