Atmosphere and its old worldly charm. No where to put your towels in the bathroom.

Disappointed that I was not informed that they could not accept credit cards due to being taken over and the systems not yet in place. An email explaining the situation would have enabled me to arrange for payment more easily.

It was absolutely beautiful, really old, the beds were comfortable, it was nicely decorated, and it was a good location to explore central Wales. The staff were very friendly, and it was a great place to stay. Only one thing - my single bed only had a duvet, no sheets, and the duvet for the single bed at least was a single, so only just big enough to cover the whole of the top of the bed - it didn't tuck in or anything. This would be fine for most people, but I toss and turn lots when I sleep so I always throw that sort of thing off. But I had a great night sleep!

Friendly welcome. Staff were helpful and informative. Food served was to a good standard. Location in the town with adequate parking a good plus point. The building was unique with a real history behind it and that made the stay very interesting. The dislikes as expressed would have been an issue for more sensitive travellers. Bathroom was tired with stained shower curtain and traces of black mould on the tiling and splashbacks. Timing for breakfast was a little too relaxed, especially as a time had been set but no one was around till 10 minutes later. Could have been irritating if you needed to get off for the day sharpish.

We really appreciated the welcome and service provided by the staff especially the manager Andrew, a credit to the chain. The evening meal was also excellent. Wi-fi wasn't brilliant.

We really enjoyed our stay at the King's Head. Our room was spacious and comfortable - a good night's slepp had by all ! The food was excellent . We had dinner , which was beautifully presented and delicious. Outstanding elements were the stack of onion rings ( freshly made) with our steaks and the home made, individual pavlovas. Breakfast was also delicious and beautifully presented. The atmosphere overall was totally laid back and relaxed. Booking in was really informal as was recording the fact that we had eaten dinner. Would definiontely recommend this delightful pub.

Having arrived on carnival day, without prior knowledge, we were told that our room was at the back of the inn to avoid being disturbed by the noise from the bar and the street. Such was the case in a very comfortable room and no noise reaching us. Staff were very friendly and discreet. I am not sure how long this inn has been doing B & B but one or two things made me think that it was a fairly new enterprise. With the tea and coffee makings in a double room is one packet of biscuits. Breakfast consisted of fruit juice and cereal, no fresh fruit; the cooked portion was superb quality but consisted of one sausage, two small rashers of bacon, three button mushrooms and and very small portion of scrambled egg or one fried egg. The toast, which was only two slices of bread, was also on the cooked breakfast plate and the butter for it was three very small pats of very hard butter served on a separate slate. My wife had tomatoes on toast which turned out to be three small halves of tomato on one slice of toast with one slice of toast also on the plate, this being part of the toast allocation. On our last morning we had a different set of staff who did make an effort at supplying a better cooked breakfast. Also tea and coffee were more plentiful on this last morning. When paying the bill I did mention my concerns to the management who did, at least, make some notes about my concerns.

My only very small complaint would be that there wasn't a full length mirror in our room. We were there for a wedding and so needed to see full length. The only mirror we had was in the bathroom so couldn't use a hair dryer in front of it either. Sorry. The stay overall was fab.

This is a hotel well run by by team of friendly people who are keen to ensure that their guests enjoy their stay. The room was cleaned each day; our large good quality towels were also replaced; the breakfast was freshly cooked to order for us. The rooms are roomy with a separate 'dressing room' with desk and chair which allowed for the main room to remain uncluttered and also provided a place to use the computer / access the internet via the free WiFi in comfort. The hotel is situated in the middle of the town making it easy to have an interesting short walk. We enjoyed our stay. Small gripes: it would be good to have a hook on back of bathroom door and also a place to hang towels. The sealant around the bath / shower area was clean but stained and new would improve the appearance of the bathroom immensely.
