We were in one of the rooms in the court yard and found it both comfortable an spacious. The staff were incredibly helpful and friendly. Also excellent sausages!
Nothing of note.
This hotel was just what we wanted and the staff were very welcoming and friendly. The whole place was really clean and the food was good too.
Our room No 12 was lovely and clean but it was a bit dull in decor and perhaps a little refurbishment would make a difference.
great room and location, comfortable bed
little things like a valance to cover the bed base, toiletries etc
Room and breakfast were excellent
The bar was excellent, serving good quality black sheep and old peculiar. Friendliness and helpfulness of staff. Good parking
Too small TV in room If only having a couple of items from the cooked breakfast then didn't get more of each item than if had chosen every item
Excellent hotel, ideal location, room was immaculate, staff very friendly. Great trip
All the staff were extremely friendly and helpful. We were made to feel very welcome. Our room was reasonably spacious with a view over the square which we liked. There wasn't a hairdryer in our room but a brand new one was quickly produced. Apparently some guests seem to think it is acceptable to take the hairdryers and irons! The breakfasts were filling with a lovely selection from a light choice of fruit, yogurts etc to a full cooked breakfast. Overall a lovely 2 night break.
Welcoming and comfortable pub accommodation.Great food ,well cooked with a good value wine list.Great selection of very local ales.Best feature of hotel though are the fantastic, friendly unobtrusively efficient staff.
Beautiful room with old fashioned furniture. Great shower and separate bathtub.
Mattress was a bit flimsy and old.
friendly staff and professional, tea and coffee
no personnel touches ie box of tissues, shampoo, hand cream, etc just hand soap and shower gel and the biggest surprise was no breakfast in the price, most of the guests went over the road to the square to the cafe.
Location excellent. Good food.
Shower overspilled the tray on use. Room quite gloomy even when lights on.
The staff were friendly and helpful. The good served at the restaurant was delicious and fairly priced.
The room was a little basic but the price we paid was fair
Location ,friendliness of the staff, quality of the food
Although there was free internet access it was impossible to sign into the web
the room bar and restaurant
lighting in room was poor
All the staff were really friendly and helpful. They went out of their way to make our stay excellent. The location of the hotel is excellent for visiting the local breweries and really close to the river for a nice walk. The room was excellent with a lovely view of the town square and we had peaceful nights even though the hotel was busy. We ate at the hotel on both evenings and had different meals each time, all the food we had was of excellent quality and very well presented.
If I had to say anything negative about this hotel and I am really digging deep \i would say their onion rings need to be crispy :)
Originality runs through the hotel like the huge oak beams in the ceiling. The rooms tastefully decorated, bathroom immaculate, food gorgeous, staff refreshingly friendly.
Location. Good food. Friendly staff. Our dog made welcome. Ideal for taking dog for a walk in local area.
Only thing we didn't like was one of the locals foul language who was sat at the end of the bar. Obviously a regular unfortunately!!!
no hassle / no fuss and under control.
The quality and location of the hotel is very good, good atmosphere and great staff thank you for looking after us !! Room was fab
located in a beautiful market place. lovely hotel with lovely accommodation and friendly restaurant.
+dinner +breakfast +choice of ales +bed was very comfortable
-room in the annex had many spiders on arrival, I understand they can be difficult to keep out given the rural barn conversion, but there were a lot! After I cleaned them out, next two days were better.
Great location and nice and peaceful. We stayed in the courtyard which was lovely. The staff are very helpful, friendly and can't do enough for you.
I had the worst nights sleep as the mattress was not great. However I did mention this at recpetion and the staff were very apologetic and even offered me a voucher to go again. I was told they were on a rolling program replacing all their mattresses so they wanted me to return to convinve me that one bad night was a one off. (Hubby slept OK but I have a lot of scarring and I could feel every spring)
Location. Staff. Restaurant food.
Bathroom with dated decor. Cobwebs at high level.
The location and most of the food
Wife's steak quality was poor. Room was very small and in summary not the best value for money
The staff were superb in their approach to everything. Always courteous and helpful and nothing seemed to be too much trouble (even, for example, offering to go out at 2130 on a Sunday night to buy me a toothbrush). My wife and I had a serious complaint which was handled brilliantly and without and any hesitation or argument. The food and service in the dining room was perfect.
We stayed for two nights and were first located in room 6. This was directly above the kitchen and the perpetual hum from the refrigerators made sleep very difficult. At 0630 we were rudely awakened by the fans from the kitchen below which sounded, at that early hour, like a jet engine starting up. I was forced to go downstairs to see if the noise could be reduced but was advised not. I stated that we would have to move out after breakfast as another night in that room was clearly unacceptable. On coming down for breakfast, I was offered a new room in the annex which was guaranteed to be quiet and at no extra cost and the staff would move all our belongings over. This was done in the most efficient and pleasant manner. I would suggest that room 6 be used only in extremis! Both my wife and I are in our seventies and reasonably active. However, showers within baths are difficult and there were no hand rails available to assist in climbing in and out of the bath. I feel that one should be made aware, when booking, exactly which type of bath and shower arrangements are available. A walk in shower should, in my opinion, be the standard.
