Location modern fit out and clean. Enthusiastic and friendly staff if poorly trained.
Awful pillows, no air con and stuffy room as you couldn't open a window due kids skateboarding into the late evening. An older building so lots of noise from other rooms. Poor level of restaurant food
The staff were very helpful with everything we requested, the location is really good for shops, restaurants and the dolphin centre which we used a lot having two small children would definitely stay again.
The room was very hot, but the hotel provided us with fans which helped a lot.
Clean, fresh well furnished rooms. Great location.
Very helpful, friendly and attentive staff, especially Lewis.
Comfort Friendly staff Pool Middle of town
Restricted parking around back A lot of traffic in town with limited parking
good value hotel nice décor bed ok but not fantastic. food in restaurant very good . staff excellent.
parking very poor
Great breakfast, nice bed and bedding.
Had to get into a second lift on the end of the hall to get up to level 3. Sound insulation could be a bit better.
Staff were friendly and helpful. Food was very good.
Being woken every hour by the council offices chimes!!
The helpfulness of the staff.
Drawer/ cupboard space in the rooms was very limited.
Comfortable & clean, nice decor.
Dining room too small and stressed breakfast staff, had to wait in lounge before a table for breakfast was available. Ordered poached eggs which came hard, very poor.
the central location and warm friendly staff.
the price was very steep for my budget , being an OAP and visiting my son in hospital, I wanted to stay in the center as being on my own I felt safer..
excellent service from reception staff during arrival excellent location free secure parking
quite old fashion room standards that make room seem not that clean (eg carpet) was not aware that breakfast was excluded
We stayed at The Mercure for a long weekend to visit friends and attend a wedding in Darlington. Hotel was fantastic. we have stayed at the hotel as we travel to visit friends every year and we are looking forward to our next trip and we will be booking with the Mercure
the staff were very helpful despite me refusing two rooms as they were right next door to the air conditioning units. finally got a great room overlooking the shops. the staff are always really professional and pleasant. the beds were comfy, the pillows clean and the room was spotless.
have stayed before and declined rooms as they were next to air conditioning units. not very noisy but did disturb me on a warm night with the window open ( no air conditioning in rooms) was moved without any problems to a room over looking the main square. was noise from the teenagers playing outside but as i work with 1500 teenagers, it didnt bother me at all.
Room good Breakfast very good Booking good
Car parking advertised but hotel small car park facility full and had to park and pay in a public car park 300 Metres away.
Central location.Good value for money.
There were no vegetarian sausages when I went to breakfast which was very disappointing. Also, the entrance to the hotel was not obvious being down a side street with nothing on the approach to indicate the position of the entrance. As a result, we walked up and down the street trying to find it. On returning on the evening, there were about a dozen people wanting to enter. The night porter just preesed the button or whatever to open the door. There was no attempt to ascertain if everyone was a bona fide hotel guest.
the rooms were dreadfully hot with no air conditioning. it was impossible to sleep. then because you had to leave the windows open the noise from the streat cleaning , dustmen and the bottle collection was a shocker at 6am
Friendly and professional staff who were happy to assist where necessary. The hotel itself was clean, as was the room I had. Fantastic choice of breakfast items on both mornings that I was there and I would definitely stay there again.
Hot room, limited parking.
Magnificent car parking assistance Perfect concierge service providing my elderly mum with a fan and sorting out her tv remote late at night. First class luggage assistance with two members of staff insisting upon escorting us to our rooms and carrying our luggage. The concierge and bar staff could not have been more friendly and obliging. - Many thanks!
It was a shame about the limited car parking but the dedication of the concierge staff accommodating our vehicle more than made up for it. If I could make on suggestion, air conditioning would make an already lovely hotel even better.
Room small but adequate and with all necessary facilities - a very good value deal.
Town Hall clock chiming every hour, plus quarters, throughout night.
Great hotel, very clean, friendly staff.
Waited a long time for our breakfast even though it wasn't busy.
Very poor parking provision - when on site parking advertised Expensive breakfast
