We chose the hotel as it is dog-friendly and although we arrived late at night we were made most welcome.

I found the staff extremely friendly and the atmosphere within was great. The hotel is in a perfect location. It's obvious that the hotel is in need of some refurbishment which probably money doesn't allow. However there are small decorative repairs, I.e like resticking wallpaper etc. which could be achieved without a great deal of effort or money spent.

The service at breakfast was second to none. We were a large group and the staff went out on their way to accomodate us. The locality was great. The beds were very comfortable. The decor was very tired and the whole place needed a good makeover. There was wallpaper missing from the walls in the bedroom and other bits peeling away. There was one very surly member of staff in the bar. The seating in the bar was uncomfortable. All high seats, so no good for short legs or bad backs. Parking is advertised, but the car park is minute. The location of this hotel is brilliant, but it does not do the location justice. This hotel has potential, needs a complete refit.

It's location The room was too hot and noisy as it was by the kitchen, when the staff turned on the ventilator at 6.00am it was too noisy. Parking a problem. Carpet worn and wallpaper peeling off the walls. Its a lovely hotel and staff are friendly, finishing off the bits and pieces and sorting out the temperature problems would turn this from an okay hotel to a great hotel.

As requested we were given the room we wanted overlooking the square. The food was excelent together with the service. Staff made you feel very welcom. 2 things that were not up to standard. The bed/settee was very uncomfortable as a settee, we had to put pillows from the bed to cushion us from the frame, this really needs looking at. We also noticed the a water leek had lft quite bad stains on the ceiling in the foom, a quick lick of paint would have been better than leaving it as it was.

Great location - very central in the town. The room was shabby and smelly, half the ceiling had been re-plastered but not re-painted and the whole place felt tired. Definately the most over-priced hotel I've stayed in for a long time.

The breakfast was excellent - in fact the best we had during our 3 weeks in the uk. However, the kippers were processed supermarket ones and not up to the standard of the other options.

Location for Tivoli theatre which was the purpose of our visit. Tired, tatty rooms. We turned down the first one we were offered as the window opened on to the dustbins (copious flies) and noisy kitchen extractor. We were offered another room by a nice member of staff - room was better but still tired and not particularly clean. Buffet items at breakfast very sparse and disappointing.
