Farnley Tower provides stunning views over Durham Castle and Cathedral.
Score from 565 reviews Good
Just 1 mile from Durham Rail Station and city centre, the Radisson BLU Durham has fantastic views of Durham Cathedral. It offers stylish rooms, free Wi-Fi, a restaurant, bar and modern health club.
Score from 954 reviews Fabulous
Home-cooked food is served in The Garden House Inn’s wooden-beamed, contemporary restaurant and a roaring open-fire features in the bar.
Score from 154 reviews Very good
This hotel offers free Wi-Fi, and is just off the A1 motorway next door to the state-of-the-art Bannatyne Health Club, with free access to guests.
Score from 588 reviews Very good
The Lodge was quaint, charming, and comfortable with a very friendly, helpful staff. Easy walking distance to the Durham Cathedral and surrounding shops and sites.
Close to train and bus stations. Comfortable room.
A rickety half-broken chair had to be replaced
Location to the station.
Poor sound insulation between rooms.
The restaurant was very nice but not outstanding as it had ran out of certain dishes on a Friday evening. The location of the hotel was good although there was a building site next door.
The accommodation was tired. our room was quite small and dark but comfy nonetheless. fine for one night.
We had a lovely meal in their restaurant.
Nothing we only stayed overnight.
Within easy reach of the Centre and station.Large room and en-suite. Wooded outlook to rear. Quiet, apart from building work nearby during the day.
The staff were helpful, the hotel exterior was attractive and inside it retained some nice character features. Plus a good base/restaurant on site.
Our room was clearly over either the kitchen or more likely boiler or plant room so there was a constant hum coming from below and the air was hot and dry, even though it wasn't particularly warm outside. The mattress wasn't very comfy and neither was the bedding in general - very basic and starchy.
Location, free parking
Breakfast was a bit disappointing. The continental breakfast did not have what you'd normally expect a hotel to provide, such as nice breads, ham, cheese etc.. The full breakfast was OK, but thin...I had Bacon, Scrambled eggs, mushrooms and grilled tomato. I got 1 piece of Bacon only, and the Tomatoes were grilled on the outside, but cold on the inside.....
Location - close to town centre
The "double" room we were in would have been small for a "single" and it was honestly the smallest room I've stayed in in ANY hotel or B&B
Clean room&good breakfast
Noisy building site opposite.started at 6.30am in morning!
Car parking was good
The rooms are too hot and not enough ventilation.
Staff were good. Food was nice. Very clean and comfortable.
Our room was over the kitchen it is the hottest room I have ever been in. We had three fans running constantly all night so sleep was difficult with the heat and the noise of the fans. The window water also open all night so we needed midge spray. If you book there check your room is not over the kitchen. It needs air con.
Good location. Breakfast.
Hotel unattended at night. We had a noise problem from other guests which disturbed our night and frankly our stay. Whilst there is a telephone number to ring didn't think this would solve anything at 2 am.
Great staff, location, food, say no more. Not sure but someone in town told us it was being sold---- shame!
The location was good very handy and the breakfast was brill.
Noisy delivery wagons and bin men early in the morning, might of been worse as it was hot and the windows were open.
Helpful receptionist Coffee and tea in room Free WI FI
Little choice at breakfast Siting of TV on wall
Nothing not to like: terrific hotel.
Extremely clean hotel with good service in a convenient position for the centre of durham. The restaurant was also excellent we would definitely come back.
I loved my full stay at the kings lodge and a would recommend it when we return to Durham we will be back to stay there x x
the view is beautiful. the room is kind of traditional and classic.
Location excellent. Food fantastic. Room spacious. Facilities well thought out.
Close to station and city centre but quiet and secluded. Excellent breakfast. Small clean single room with good facilities provided.
Building works across the road might be a nuisance during the week but there was no work going on during my weekend stay.
i like the location
there was some construction around, still very quiet, but not feeling comfortable. A little off the main road to find. Feeling not too much security in General. Also a bit far from city center actually. Long Slope from station.
Restaurant. Breakfast was good and in pleasant room. Helpful receptionist.
Plastic shower cubicle. Very dark room. Window covered by trees. Noisy early morning building site nearby.
