Undertaking major refurbishment in main Hotel which I was not advised of when booking. Alternate arrangements made in Kingsclub for Dinner and Breakfast but had to walk across cold car park to get there. Unavoidable I know but guests should be advised pre booking , not upon c/in.

My wife and I had booked a Christmas Break - we had our little scottie dog with us and there were some little dog biscuits in the room on a saucer plate - nice touch by hotel staff. Every one on staff very helpful and pleasant - it was a joy.

I stayed in one of the newly refurbished rooms, excellent, will be back and look forward to rest of hotel meeting those standards. The gym , slightly lacking in space and equipment, was especially busy and the changing / shower facilities need some attention and redecoration.

Got room upgrade and it was very luxurious. Huge bed, a good sitting area, and a balcony. the breakfast was excellent. Evening meal was not very good and very pricy. My wife, for example, had Battered Haddock which was just frozen chips and the fish batter was unedible. This was just a badly cooked fish supper for £14.00. We complained to the waitress but all we got was sympathy. If we used this hotel again it would be for B&B only. Keep away from the house wine as it's the price of a bottle for one glass.

The staff were outstanding, can't do enough, yet without being intrusive. It looks good when you arrive. Ate there too, food was very nice. Felt thoroughly relaxed and spoiled after our short break there. Would most certainly return. A lampshade in the room needed to be replaced, not an issue but should have been spotted. Did not detract from our excellect experience though.

The staff were friendly, the rooms were clean and inviting and the location was good. The food. The food had 4star prises but was very disappointing, the food was either greasy or over cooked. Really let the rest of the hotel down. I would stay there again but I certainly would not eat there.

I liked everything about the Kingsmills Hotel. We only spent one night there as we were travelling from Glasgow to Inverness for the Pantomime at the Eden Court Theatre. My son and daughter in law and granddaughter were travelling down from Thurso to meet us there. They had stayed at the hotel overnight for a wedding the year before and recommended it to us. We did not have the opportunity to use the Leisure Facilities as there just wasn't time but my granddaughter loved the games room. We had a beautiful room overlooking the gardens. The only thing I was disappointed in was the cost of two small glasses of red wine which we ordered when we arrived after the long drive from Glasgow. At £10 I felt that this was very overpriced.

It fitted what we needed. The cost of drinks - >£12 for 2 drinks, which in my opinion is grossly overpriced.

Comfy bed We booked the deluxe room which was to include fruit and complimentary water. On arrival we found that the fruit consisted of 3 apples one of which was rotten and the water was in the bathroom which was extremely warm. Bathroom could have been cleaner - the soap holder in the shower had soap residue left and the holder was falling of the wall, the toilet roll holder was also falling of the wall and cracks in the tiles on bath pannel. Overall we did not feel this was a deluxe room as stated on the website.
