We just needed somewhere clean, dry and comfy for one night in the area. It ticked all these boxes for a very reasonable price incl. breakfast! It wasnt luxury, but that wasnt what we paid for. It was a bit tired, but for the price, it was what was expected.

Staff very friendly, arrived after kitchen was closed but had ordered sandwiches which were fresh and nicely presented, My wife is vegetarian but the chef did the meal she requested although it was not on the menu. Cannot fault the friendliness. Only problem was the room was cold as radiator not working but staff had put in a fire and were awaiting plumber to arrive.

It is very well placed for other facilities. The hotel is in need of a complete makeover, it was very tired and dated, and the shower in our room was terrible!

On arrival we were met with very friendly and helpful staff, she did have trouble locating our booking but that was resolved with no issues. The hotel and rooms are a wee bit dated, but its wonderfully clean, tidy and well organised. The breakfast in the morning was very good, with a large selection of continental and full scottish breakfast, all in all a great stay in a friendly local hotel. We were a bit disappointed that we couldnt get bar snacks/food in the hotel before 5pm, we had a long drive and were hoping to get a late lunch, although we did find its only a 10 minute walk along to the shops for a sandwich.

Staff were friendly and the room clean. The location is good for the local countryside and convenient for the railway station. I would classify the hotel as 2-3 star. Comfortable without having any wow factor. An 'average' type of hotel. The room was adequate for one night but not a lot of room for a longer stay.

Staff were excellent when we had problems with room they moved us straight away. A lot quieter and bed was nicer. Bed had zip up middle therefore uncomfortable. Noisy (refrigeration truck in car park) security light kept coming on. Was moved to another room. Toilet noisy and stopped working, after a couple of hours started working again. Shower could not be moved easily and fell out of holder.

Nothing really Grumpy, unfriendly staff, no window in room which was completely filled by the bed. Broken, dangerous stool at desk. Overpriced for what it is.

The food and service in the restaurant was very good and the staff very pleasant. The room was poor. Bed very uncomfortable. `No headboard, no bedside table, no telephone and room only had a velux window which made it feel stuffy. For £85 per night I was expecting a bit more. Our room was also above the function suite and luckily we were out at a function ourselves but it was very noisy when we returned. If you wanted a quiet night in it would have been impossible.
