Very handy for the m74. Hotel is 2 minutes and perfectly sign-posted off the motorway. An excellent stop over on the way to Glasgow after a long drive up through England We were in the chalet situated in the grounds of the hotel. The main London to Glasgow train line is c200 metres away. There were frequent trains running throughout the night which no amount of double glazing can dampen!! On arrival we were 'welcomed' by a gentleman who seemed to resent the fact that we had booked through a late booking web-site and had therefore got a good price. He argued that an extra bed could not have been ordered for the price being paid; equally that breakfast was not included for that price; both issues were resolved on production of paperwork but a certain level of resentment appear to have remained.

Its a beautiful old building with lovely features. Handy for motorway stop on way to other cities further afield in our case Durham! Friendly owner and food was very good. Room a wee bit noisy due to central heating perhaps but good value for bed and breakfast.

Easy to find and surprisingly quiet, given its proximity to the motorway. Beautiful room with the luxury of a roll top bath in the en- suite. Evening meal should be noted for its quality and its generous portion size! Just stayed overnight but certainly worhtwhile!

My wife and I opted to take our evening meal at this hotel and we thought the food superb. The proximity of the a74m on one side and the railway on the other side of the hotel.

The owners of Kirkconnel were relaxed, friendly and very interesting people. They obviously have high standards but make guests feel unhurried and at home. The entrance hall was a total surprise and utterly unique - super! Our room was spotless and had everything we could have wished for. We thought the hotel offered excellent value for money as an overnight stay. Our evening meal was far better than we had expected - beautifully cooked meat and an unusual choice of vegetables. We particularly enjoyed the home-preserved red cabbage dish. The home-made desserts were also first class. If we lived in the Ecclefechan area we would definitely eat at Kirkconnel Hall if we wanted a special meal out. We hope to return and to stay for longer next time.

Very welcoming staff who couldn't do enough. This hotel is an old world classic, very Cosy but quirky! Not perfect, it has it's faults but that's what makes it interesting. The reall surprise was the food, massive portions of quality homemade food. Try the mixed grill at your peril!! A little tatty in places outside but you will forgive that.

The breakfast was nice The hotel is right by the motorway and windows are not double glazed, we found it quite noisy. The corridors stunk of dampness. The honeymoon suite for the price stated was appalling, the carpet in the room and bathroom is stained, the wood around the jacuzzi bath seems to be rotting from the water. The four poster bed was rocking! And the cable for the tv aerial was unplugged. The toilet by the bar downstairs has the lights switched off and only switched on from the bar. The owner has a dog which comes to the restaurant during breakfast and stinks.

Convienient stop over for travelling to main destination as it is verry close to motorway connection. Desk attendent mader it clear that as we were on a special offer price for the room, that we were not at the top of his priority list with information or service.

Kirkconnel Hall is a really lovely place to stay. As we're a family staying there we stayed in the chalet. It was perfect for us. Very spacious and everything we needed it to be. Anyone that's attending a wedding at the Mill Forge its perfectly placed when staying here (only 6-7 mins drive) and in my opinion a much better place to stay. The staff are lovely too. Highly recommend!!!! If anything, there is a train line running close by but its easy to forget its there and would only really effect people staying in the chalet.
