Not many kitchen utensils or crockery in cabin.
Very warm and spacious room. Friendly staff. Homemade food, especially good chicken liver pate. Historic character of house which has been well-preserved. Very convenient location. Large grounds. Dog-friendly.
It was an individual personal hotel which reflected the character of the owner/proprietor. Its a great location for long trips to Scotland. the building is wonderful and the interior is no bland premier inn. the rooms are bigger than a normal hotel room.
The breakfast was filling but a bit greasy although there was lots of choice of cereals and fruit which i didn't have. For the more nervous traveler with imagination there is an air of Tales of the Unexpected about it, but I liked it overall.
Wonderful country hall retaining many unique features. Welcoming and very helpful hosts & staff. Good food and comfortable room. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay.
Extremely warm welcome from owners John and Marjory and their two lovely dogs Louis and Rosie.
Personal attention from John and Marjory, and their very friendly dogs Louis and Rosie. Excellent food.
Really enjoyed our stay the gentlemen owner was first class made to feel welcome and food was outstanding
How far from our hotel to the wedding we were attending the next day not hotels fault but bookings.com sed we were 7.7 miles away when in fact if was 15 miles
Good value comfortable 3 bedroom chalet, good for families.
Coffee, but we could make our own.
The atmosphere and helpful staff
No milk for early breakfast
Location - close to M74 and easy to find. Food - very good meal and value for money. Staff - very friendly. Dogs allowed. Owner has dogs which roam around the public rooms. We didn't mind at all but could see it may upset some people. Cleanliness - very good
No English breakfast - which we knew about in advance.
The location, just off the motorway, is good and there was no road or rail noise. The wholegrain toast at breakfast was nice
Allegedly a "honeymoon suite" but the room had a very small double bed Basic breakfast Extremely poor TV reception in the room with no remote controller 'Welcome' tray had just 2 teabags Doggy smell
Food and friendliness of staff.
Owner's 3 dogs having access to Dining Room
The owner was very nice and very welcoming will definitely stay there again
The bedroom and bathroom were clean Wifi available Our very late arrival was accepted
Strange, eerie atmosphere Mannequins in the reception and dining room Poor quality of the breakfast
The location and the wifi
The couple who own the hotel are lovely. We go back as often as possible and have recommended to friends who have stayed. Lovely old house and grounds, an ideal stop on the way up and back from scotland
No WI FI in bedroom
Really enjoyed our overnight stay. The Hotel was in an ideal location, as we were travelling to the Commonwealth Games. We had booked two rooms and they were spotlessly clean. The whole stay was fun and the food was excellent. We were made to feel very welcome. Loved the three dogs, they kept us company in the bar.
Location Decor Old fashioned
The hotel is in an excellent location near the motorway. The staff were very attentive and looked after all needs. The adjoining dining room offered a very fine dinner, and breakfast was a nice spread.
It is a lovely building, room spacious and clean, bar area very interesting.
The breakfast was awful, few cereals, fruit, yogurt, cold meat and toast! No croissants, or rolls for meat, no eggs! If this hotel offered a cooked breakfast it would be great!
Pleasant surroundings, a nice place for an overnight stay / a couple of days. You shouldn't be averse to train noise though - the main Glasgow to London line is quite close by and trains run right through the night!
Not to be recommended
Warm friendly reception from the hosts (and the dogs!)
Room needed a little updating with the plumbing (toilet didn't flush very well) and the grouting in the bathroom tiles needed re-doing.
